TRIM Support The OCZ Synapse Series offers native TRIM support featured in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. Designed to maintain the performance of SSD at an optimal level over the lifetime of the drive, TRIM functions by actively deleting invalid data from the SSD’s memory cells to ensure that write operations perform at full speed. Since a memory block must be erased before it can be re-programmed, TRIM improves performance by pro-actively erasing pages containing invalid data, allowing the SSD to write new data without first having to perform a time-consuming erase command.

No issues I set it up and on second boot it just failed. Did not show up (tried on two computers). Sending for RMA. Not hopeful for any reliability after this. Writing to say that the Dataplex software that ships with it DOES work with Secondry drives. It also works in Windows 8 by using W7 combatability mode. Dataplex is saying since December that W8 version is being worked on but have not done ANYTHING or said any where on timing. It was bought by Samsung in December so I assume they are working for thier new Master and OCZ, Cruicial etc cache drives are NOT their priority. Although the software works, there is alternative if you have a SSD. Its called VeloSSD and can be had for $10. One more note is that this SSD shows 64GB at BIOS level. Cons: Included 2.5" to 3.5" metal SSD adapter wouldn't take my screw-less connector rails. Other Thoughts: Performs as advertised... The capacity (trashed in another review) of 64 GB provides excellent look ahead for 95%-99% of all disk reads for frequenty used software, slowing only when used new or rarely used software calls. The dataplex software blows Intel caching (on the Z68 & Z77 platform) out of the water. Plus it is a solution for any computer running Windows 7 or 8: not just the LGA 1155 platform. Cons: Dataplex software limits caching to the boot disk, so you cannot use the SSD caching with other storage HDDs. Other Thoughts: Any criticism of this drive on the grounds that it provides only 64GB of caching is technically naive. First: if the critic read the specs of the drive s/he would have seen that it uses 64 GB for caching and 64 GB for background operations. Second: the same caching technique is used by all other caching solutions to some degree. You will never get the full capacity of a caching SSD because of the need for look-ahead overhead. And caching SSDs are not storage devices in the first place. A caching SSD provides no extra storage: it only bridges and sppeds up HDD reads. 4 out of 4 people found this review helpful. Did you? Cons: The first time in my life when I purchase a 128 GB and I'm only can use 64GB!!! its I only can use 64 of the 128 why they don't ad this thing as 64GB? During normal operation with Dataplex, the entire Synapse capacity is hidden from Windows because it functions as a cache device. The 50% NAND overprovisioning used on all Synapse models (translating into 32GB and 64GB cache capacities) is maintained as a performance feature to increase the lifespan of the drive, accommodate software features, and accommodate the writing of "hot" user data. Since the Synapse acts as a cache for file/program copies vs. typical data storage, the "free" capacity will be sufficient to deliver the full benefits of Synapse for any personal usage pattern.
