TRIM Support The OCZ Vertex 2 Series SSDs offer native TRIM support that can be enabled in Windows 7. Designed to maintain the performance of SSD at an optimal level over the lifetime of the drive, TRIM functions by actively deleting invalid data from the SSD’s memory cells to ensure that write operations perform at full speed. Since a memory block must be erased before it can be re-programmed, TRIM improves performance by pro-actively erasing pages containing invalid data, allowing the SSD to write new data without first having to perform a time-consuming erase command.

Since I didn't get the rest of the parts for my computer for about 1 month after I bought this, it was too late to return to Newegg, so I RMA'ed it directly to OCZ. pacanes 4/4/2013 2:38:38 PM Tech Level: 4/5 Ownership: 2/5 Verified Owner	Rating: 4/5Working so far Pros: Wasn't DOA. Came unformatted and with an older firmware. So needed to update the firmware using the OCZ utility. It's 90GB, which formats to 83.7GB. Seems like a new drive because the SMART data showed very little power up time. Cons: Wasn't as fast as I thought it would be. I'm using this on an older AM2+ board that has nVidia SATA 2 controller and I'm getting less than 200MB/s read and write speeds. I thought it would be solidly in the mid 200's for both read and write. I got disk caching, indexing and page filing all turned off and still can't get it to benchmark above 200MB/s. Other Thoughts: Got this on sale for $50 on sale so really can't complain about the price. Fit into my desktop without adapters because of it's 3.5" form factor size. That's a good thing. Formatted quickly and installed a fresh copy of Win7 and now my older Phenom quad core machine feels new again. Even though it benchmarks slower than I expected, the drive is still plenty fast, especially compared to the old mechanical drive. Well worth the money. Only time will tell how long this will last. I got this lesser than what it is now thanks to a promotion. Ive had no problem works really quick and didn't give me issue time will tell if this will last but I bought the warranty so not worried Cons: none so far Other Thoughts: should have bought vertex 3 for quicker load time. taprice 2/26/2013 8:22:37 PM Tech Level: 5/5 Ownership: 5/5	Rating: 1/5Watch out Pros: 3.5" if you don't have an adapter. Cons: Bought an original (non-refurb) drive, failed in 14 months. That really sucked, but OCZ sent a replacement. This new (refurbished) drive lasted only 6 weeks. Something is very wrong with this series of drives! Stay away! Other Thoughts: On another note, I own several Vertex 3 drives and they seem to be still going strong, so it must be a Vertex 2 problem. Pros: None- what good is a drive that you spend hours installing all your software on just to have to do it again a month later... Cons: Drive worked fine for 28 days. Thankfully that's all it lasted, 2 more and I would have been out of the refurb warranty... HTPC's OS drive here for 28 days, came home that day and I was seeing BIOS, and the BIOS would no longer see the dead drive. No warning, just becomes a brick. Second drive warranty replacement just failed after about 10 months as well! Other Thoughts: Don't buy this old SSD technology. OCZ was fine to deal with the first time, but this time the tech support aren't responding to my questions, just giving me another RMA which I have to pay for shipping, again!
