5 out of 5 eggsBurns Brightest

Pros: This is some awesome ram. Had it up to 1040 mhz, no sweat. It did die on me, as others have said.
RMA with g-skill was painless, fill out a form, email, get rma number, mail in, just got it back, no hassles.

Cons: Well, it did die on me, one stick, then the other a little bit later.

Other Thoughts: Any good product wears out, these just wear out faster. But, I paid about 150 for mine, and just got new ones. So they are still going now, for the original price, plus shipping.

5 out of 5 eggsStill running great since July 07'

Pros: Highly overclockable and stable. Price although high for today still much better than the 200+ I paid originally. My pair was used with a E6600 @ 3.4 for the 1st year and since has been paired with a set of 2 Gig Patriot sticks in a 3.1 Q6600 system all at the 4-4-4-12 settings.

Cons: Original cost. Comparative cost in todays market. Low life expectancy.

Other Thoughts: If you want to hit some benchmarks then this memory is great. Reported speeds of up to 478 not uncommon for this memory.

1 out of 5 eggsDefinitely not worth it

Pros: Fast

Cons: Constant problems with this RAM. Computer not POSTing, one of the sticks will stop working, etc. This is the worst memory I've ever bought.

Other Thoughts: It has completely died now (1.5yr later) and I'm not going to even bother RMAing this. I regret not buying new non-G.Skill memory sooner.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product and Customer Service

Pros: This memory is one of the few modules that has the Micron D9 chip in it. It is by far the best chip out there in terms of performance. The only limits to its speed is the skill and ingenuity of the owner. G.Skill may not be the biggest or most established company out there but they are working hard to change that. Their company website includes a forum for owners/potential owners that is manned by experts who typically respond to all questions within 24 hours. If you have compatibility questions, want timing specs, or need an RMA then this is the place to go. No other memory company gives you this level of personal support. I made the mistake of assuming that they were like every other hardware company and only contacted them when I needed an RMA. After realizing what kind of company I was dealing with during this process, they have earned a customer for life. I cannot give a higher compliment or better recommendation than this. It is a great comapany and has great products.

Cons: The Micron D9 chip is infamous for it's short lifespan. If you do not take care of it then you will shorten it even further. Mine lasted for about 14 months before it went down. Many companies have stopped selling the D9 chip because of it's high RMA rate. It is the best chip out there but it will eventually break down on you. If you want it, you had better find a company that stands behind it's products. The upside of all of this is that G.Skill has a product-line lifetime warranty. You will get another D9 chip when yours goes down. You do not get forced into a lessor product or get hassled about the RMA like some other companies. You may be able to find a cheaper D9 chip out there but I doubt you will get any use out of it after your first RMA with another company. You get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: I've read several reviews that have inferred that somehow G.Skill is liable for the sort lifespan of the D9 chip. This is absolutely false. Regardless of where you buy the D9 chip, it will have the same inherent issues. If you have decided to get the chip, the only important decision left is the warranty. I don't stay up at night worrying about my D9 chip. G.Skill has me covered. Also, I have read reviews that have been harsh on G.Skill's customer service reps for not speaking perfect English. This is a growing company based in Taiwan. Perhaps we should learn Mandarin and speak to them in their native language since we bought their products. That was our choice. Personally, I place more importance on the product and the end result. Regardless, my experience with the company website and the USA office has been exceptional. They had my RMA out in the mail back to me the same day they received it! Now that's service! Who cares if they haven't mastered the language?

4 out of 5 eggssecond set I've had to send back

Pros: Overclocks really well and at stock speeds it does what RAM is supposed to do.

Looks pretty :)

The price has finally come down which is good! This stuff was the most expensive DDR2 800 RAM on the block for a while and I'm not sure any DDR2 800 RAM should have been that expensive. Just my opinion though. ;)

Cons: It's not necessarily the fault of gskill, but the micron chipsets have a terribly short life! This is the second set of these I've had and they lasted about 16 months. If you're overclocking this RAM make sure you know what you're doing with the ram voltage and memory timings or I suspect you're going to shorten its life.

Other Thoughts: I ran this memory at just below DDR2 1066 with my timings loosened to 5-5-5-15 and my voltage relatively low, at about 2.175 or 2.2. Seeing as I considered my overclocking to be responsible and moderate I don't think that's what caused the problems. If you read any of the forums you'll find that just about everyone has problems with the micron 9 chips, so it's not just a gskill problem.

Still, for what I paid for this RAM I can't help but feel annoyed that I find myself processing an RMA form for the second time!!

1 out of 5 eggsDies very fast!

Pros: When it works, it is some of the fastest ram around.

Cons: This stuff dies fast and easily. I have 2 different kits of this that are dead or dying as I type this. One kit was bought from Newegg and the original kit died around 6 months ago and was RMA'ed back to G. Skill. The replacement kit died on me totally 3 days ago; just gives memory error post beeps suddenly one day. And this was not pushing the ram hard either, running it at stock timings, speed and no more than it's rated 2.1 volts. So now I have to talk to G. Skill's tech support to get them to send me a call tag issued to send the second bad kit back on their dime and not mine. The second kit of this ram I bought from a forums Classifieds area and now I have a stick of the kit kicking out Memtest86 errors. I just hope that G. Skill will honor their "lifetime warrantee" on this second kit because it wasn't bought from a store, but rather from an individual.

Other Thoughts: Both kits were tested in at least 2 different computers running different motherboard models with no success. And those computers do run just fine with different kits of ram installed besides the 2 HZ kits.

Another thing that worries me about continued buying of G. Skill products was the answer I got back from G. Skill yesterday about the possibility of getting another kit of comparable ram that wasn't the HZ line, since I have been having such bad luck with the HZ kits I own and also any kit I own that uses the Micron D9GMH chips on them in general. The reply from G. Skill said that they won't substitute a different and comparable model line kit for these defective HZ kits, which directly contradicts some answers I've read here in the reviews at Newegg on some of G. Skill's kits.

1 out of 5 eggsREPLACEMENT DEAD!

Pros: The ram actually came in a box this time...

Cons: this is probably the worst ram i have ever purchased
1. initial purchase both sticks arrived dead
2. rma process with newegg took a unnecessary 3 weeks to ship me a replacement
3. replacements arrive and 1 stick is dead and 1 works
4. i contact G.Skill customer service and some asian woman that barely speaks english answers she failed to even answer a simple question
5. the representative requested i contact the supervisor through email but she fails to even pronounce the email correctly "ustech@gskill.com"
6. at last through G.Skill's website i find the email i send a message and i have yet to receive a response after 2 days

If newegg or G.Skill sees this i want to know what is going on because this is unacceptable

3 out of 5 eggsfast memory but aint relable

Pros: didnt overclocked it.worked good for about 14 months then died

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: would be good for g.skill service to have something like cross shipping so customers dont have to wait like 2 weeks for replacement.
