5 out of 5 eggs2nd Pair great as hoped.

Pros: After changing from XP to 8.1 Pro 64 bit wanted to speed up old PC as much as could while decide if want to change over to all new system. The old PC board will run 10,600 max. Change to 10,000 @ 8 MB from 4X1 MB@ 667 was noticeable bump in speed. One pair worked well. However, when adding 2nd pair to system- it came alive and is impressive for age and time. Ram worked great from get, pushed button and system read all ram and liked 2nd pair from 1st boot. The last G skill I used till now chugged away for over 5 years with no issues.

Cons: As stated DDR2 is costly for speed and limited. Seemed I had to live with drop off in speed after adding 8.1 or upgrade all system. Ram upgrade is temp solution. Sort of like money spent to stand in place. Had good long run with XP and was time to change. These facts however have nothing to do with great selection, top rate service, or good price for products as always on my selections from Newegg. So all eggs stay.

Other Thoughts: For now while undecided about total system upgrade the G skill 2X2GB DDR2 ram was very nice stopgap to let system run as well as can be expected while I decide on other option(s).

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Ram ---(again)

Pros: Solid good looking DDR2 Ram even with conservative cooling area. Easy install fit bit tight. Changed from 4X1 DDR2 G Skill sticks 667 speed. MO - BO is set up to run 32 or 64 bit system and 10600 speed ram. Install of 8.1 pro good time to upgrade. Worked great from install and 1st fire as expected. If go to DDR3 system will be using G skill ram also.

Cons: None so far and expect that to be long as needed. Hope Ram works as well as 4X1 667 speed set used for over 6 years.

Other Thoughts: Have to decide soon if going to get new mother board that uses DDR3 as if not need another two sticks of G Skill Ram. Silly but like color. Ram is ram some may say but did notice difference when I installed G skill. System seemed to run steadier, start better, and ran smoother overall.

5 out of 5 eggsSometimes better than its own controller

Pros: It's time proven and reliable. I already had a pair of these in this particular computer, so I thought to upgrade it to 8 GB while I still could. Price was reasonable considering DDR2 costs more than DDR3. The heat spreaders aren't flashy, they're nice looking and compact.

Cons: With previously only two sticks (one in each channel), I could get them to 1066 MHz no problem, but with 4 sticks the AMD cpu controller limits the speed to just 800 MHz. Can't fault the sticks themselves, just the controller. Fortunately, I also had the option of tightening the timings to 4-4-4.

Availability of DDR2 memory will only continue to worsen.

Other Thoughts: Using an Asus M4A785-M motherboard and a Phenom II X6 1090t CPU.

2 out of 5 eggsstandard ram; misleading name....NOT PERFORMANCE

Pros: Lasts long if you run stock

Cons: Misleading label
will burn out easily
NOT PERFORMANCE MEMORY
high price

Other Thoughts: This is really just their ddr2 800 sticks that you can run at 1000 if you crank the voltage up. Huh....people would be doing that anyways with the ddr2 800....I guess the extra charge price is for.....nothing?
I bought these around five years ago and they're still running decent (don't overclock much, mainly due to these ram sticks), bought another pair to match what I have.
A friend had the same sticks that he ran overclocked, and after extended use, he tried to sell them to me, but they would only run stable at the higher voltage. Stock would give mem-errors.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you are not satisfied with your purchase. We can help clarify some ideas you have. This memory kit is rated for DDR2-1000 5-5-5-15 2.00-2.10V, meaning that these specifications were tested and guaranteed capable from factory. If you think any DDR2-800 RAM is capable of these specifications, feel free to give it a shot. With the proper settings in BIOS, the memory should last a long time at the rated specifications. If you think the kit you have is out of spec, don't worry, you are backed by a G.Skill manufacturer lifetime warranty. Simply send it in for RMA exchange and we can have a new kit out to you immediately. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsWow... Just wow...

Pros: Amazing...

Cons: None that I can think of other than its not DDR3, and the fact that you can get 16GB of DDR3 for just a little more.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this RAM in 2008, its still going strong, never a hiccup. Definitely a great buy.

5 out of 5 eggs5 years and still going strong!

Pros: Reliable - Dang, these sticks are resilient. I bought them nearly five years ago and they've never given me a hint of trouble. G.SKILL definitely built these to last.

Overclockable - With minimal tweaking, these will easily operate at DDR2 1066 speed with stock timings 5-5-5-15 stable.

Cons: It's Old - It's DDR2, so it's definitely out of date. DDR3 is faster and uses lower voltages.

It's a bit pricey - You can get DDR3 that is far superior for half the price these days.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking to put some more RAM in an older system that's still chugging along just fine, this stuff is absolutely for you. If your system's on its last legs, skip this and upgrade your rig - DDR3 is superior in every way and cheaper.

Mad props to G.SKILL for making a memory set that's still making my first gaming rig build work. I'll certainly be considering them for my next PC.
