5 out of 5 eggsSometimes better than its own controller

Pros: It's time proven and reliable. I already had a pair of these in this particular computer, so I thought to upgrade it to 8 GB while I still could. Price was reasonable considering DDR2 costs more than DDR3. The heat spreaders aren't flashy, they're nice looking and compact.

Cons: With previously only two sticks (one in each channel), I could get them to 1066 MHz no problem, but with 4 sticks the AMD cpu controller limits the speed to just 800 MHz. Can't fault the sticks themselves, just the controller. Fortunately, I also had the option of tightening the timings to 4-4-4.

Availability of DDR2 memory will only continue to worsen.

Other Thoughts: Using an Asus M4A785-M motherboard and a Phenom II X6 1090t CPU.

2 out of 5 eggsstandard ram; misleading name....NOT PERFORMANCE

Pros: Lasts long if you run stock

Cons: Misleading label
will burn out easily
NOT PERFORMANCE MEMORY
high price

Other Thoughts: This is really just their ddr2 800 sticks that you can run at 1000 if you crank the voltage up. Huh....people would be doing that anyways with the ddr2 800....I guess the extra charge price is for.....nothing?
I bought these around five years ago and they're still running decent (don't overclock much, mainly due to these ram sticks), bought another pair to match what I have.
A friend had the same sticks that he ran overclocked, and after extended use, he tried to sell them to me, but they would only run stable at the higher voltage. Stock would give mem-errors.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you are not satisfied with your purchase. We can help clarify some ideas you have. This memory kit is rated for DDR2-1000 5-5-5-15 2.00-2.10V, meaning that these specifications were tested and guaranteed capable from factory. If you think any DDR2-800 RAM is capable of these specifications, feel free to give it a shot. With the proper settings in BIOS, the memory should last a long time at the rated specifications. If you think the kit you have is out of spec, don't worry, you are backed by a G.Skill manufacturer lifetime warranty. Simply send it in for RMA exchange and we can have a new kit out to you immediately. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsWow... Just wow...

Pros: Amazing...

Cons: None that I can think of other than its not DDR3, and the fact that you can get 16GB of DDR3 for just a little more.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this RAM in 2008, its still going strong, never a hiccup. Definitely a great buy.

5 out of 5 eggs5 years and still going strong!

Pros: Reliable - Dang, these sticks are resilient. I bought them nearly five years ago and they've never given me a hint of trouble. G.SKILL definitely built these to last.

Overclockable - With minimal tweaking, these will easily operate at DDR2 1066 speed with stock timings 5-5-5-15 stable.

Cons: It's Old - It's DDR2, so it's definitely out of date. DDR3 is faster and uses lower voltages.

It's a bit pricey - You can get DDR3 that is far superior for half the price these days.

Other Thoughts: If you're looking to put some more RAM in an older system that's still chugging along just fine, this stuff is absolutely for you. If your system's on its last legs, skip this and upgrade your rig - DDR3 is superior in every way and cheaper.

Mad props to G.SKILL for making a memory set that's still making my first gaming rig build work. I'll certainly be considering them for my next PC.

5 out of 5 eggstitle

Pros: I've had these sticks since 2007 running in the first custom PC I built. I still have them, and still use the computer, but have since upgraded other components. I suppose I should get DDR3, at some point, and upgrade from 4GB....but whatever.

Cons: None, really. They didn't OC, very well, but I never cared much about that. Just need a simple, cheap way to get somewhat fast 4GB sticks in my custom PC.

Other Thoughts: Cool color, can't find this color or style in DDR3. Love G.Skill.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat RAM

Pros: Great DDR2 RAM and high quality. Bought a pair for new built back in the days and they have been running great with no issues. Totally plug and play!

Cons: Still Pricey! Affordable back then but I don't know why these are still expensive compared to newer technology RAM for today's standard. I can buy DDR3 RAM with more capacity for a much cheaper price today.

Other Thoughts: Should had bought 8GB (4x2GB) sticks back then!
