5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: Good price, exceptional product, exceptional customer service.

Cons: One stick went bad after about 4 months of use.

Other Thoughts: In my opinion, buying memory is a risk all on it's own. It's arguably the most sensitive part of your computer, it's easily the smallest and probably handled the most during packing and shipping. Who's to say that any of these steps along the way didn't contribute to a possible failure at some point? I had one stick of this memory go bad after 4 months. I sent an e-mail to G.Skill tech support Friday night about it. I received a reply from them the same night about replacing it. I submitted the RMA form later that same night, and received the corresponding RMA back from them within an hour. I packaged up the defective piece and dropped it at UPS Saturday morning. I received the good RAM back on Thursday. For 6 days total turnaround (including the weekend) and plain English instructions every step of the way, I consider this customer service experience to be exceptional. 5 Eggs. Thanks, G.Skill!

5 out of 5 eggsRAM is solid

Pros: I read for hours how ram specifically works and reviews about what gives you the best performance from ram. I work in the IT field and I do enjoy hardware as a hobby. Timing on this ram is pretty good. It is running at the advertised speeds once I went into the bios and gave it the proper settings. Stressed the system with prime95 and it is running great.

Cons: Timing is not listed with the product info. I think it would have been nice to be included. Found most of the settings fairly easily on Gskill's forum.

Other Thoughts: I understand people are complaining about the chips dying them a lot sooner than they would like. If you are running at the advertised settings then you are stressing them a bit more. It is expected I think for them to die on someone.

5 out of 5 eggsPurchased 20

Pros: No significant failures. Some have worked at 1066 without turning up the V. Heat spreader. Compatible with every mainboard I have tried them in. Matches the color scheme of the GA-MA785GM-US2H. Dman, put a light blue cold cathode light in there and it looks good.

Cons: Requires a tweakable mainboard to use at full speed. 2 out of 20* will not work at full speed, but they test fine at 800.

Other Thoughts: The slow(er) ones I put in business workstations and no one notices or cares. *really not sure how many pairs I bought, but its a bunch.

3 out of 5 eggsIs twice the cost realistic?

Pros: Worked for 16 months and very reasonable in cost at $50. for 2 x 2G in April of 2009. After failure of one of the two sticks last week, I've asked for a RMA # and I'm grateful that there's a lifetime warranty.

Cons: One of the two 2G sticks failed and caused blue screen on Win 7 at each bootup last week. I contemplated ordering another pair while I wait for the replacement stick to be sent but having to pay $100. for the exact same memory 16 months later is more than I can tolerate. I'll wait and use the remaining 2G for the coming weeks.

Other Thoughts: Although I can easily afford twice the cost, I have a psychological aversion to being a participant in the so-called "supply and demand" game where the cost fluctuations are so outlandish. Someone much smarter than I will have to explain how GSkill and its distributors now can sell memory at a 100% increase from last year, at a time when the economy is still struggling. I suppose I can partially answer my own question by saying that as long as we continue to buy it, they can sell it at whatever cost they choose.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Glad to hear you are taking advantage of your G.Skill lifetime guarantee. This scenario is perfect in that we want to prevent you from these types of price increases. We do not want your memory to go bad, then have you pay more for a replacement set. Unfortunately the high pricing is something we do not / can not control. It is not the supply and demand of G.Skill memory that controls pricing. DRAM IC chips that are mounted on memory products, are like commodities in the sense that market price fluctuates based on global supply and demand. As you have noticed, recent prices have sky rocketed but hopefully in the near future prices will drop and allow computer memory upgrades to be more affordable. It is much more expensive for us to produce too.

Thank you

Cons: MUCH less when I bought it about a year ago.

3 out of 5 eggsthe hottest part of my computer

Pros: cool looking? allmost four GBs?

Cons: super hot.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

The memory will be hot since it is operating 2.10V, 0.3V over voltage. Rest assured that this is completely fine and safe; it will not cause any harm or damage. The blue heat spreader is there to help dissipate heat evenly. If you have any further questions or issues, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsGood ram, cheap fast, works

Pros: I got this ram for a customer build. I'm a bit depressed their budget didn't allow for me to get DDR3 ram, but DDR2 1066 is what i have in my own system, so i know it is quite fast and dependable enough.

Installed just fine, picked up instantly by the bios, heat spreader works great. The system i put this in has One fan on the back of the tower, one in the PSU, both to draw heat out of the case, and a tube-vent on the side for the CPU to have cool fresh air, just this is enough to keep the case cool, and the Ram happy.

Cons: I forgot to make a video review D:

Other Thoughts: Got this in a sweet combo deal. This is the first time I've purchased G.SKILL, and they definitely get a plus in my book.

5 out of 5 eggsCant beat Gskill

Pros: -Timings. 5-5-5-15.
-Heatspreaders. This particular set of Gskill RAM stays very cool. Make sure your case isnt crammed in however.
-Minor overclockability. It goes up, but get a fan on them. And go up in small increments, using memtest.

Cons: There are no cons. (Notice I didnt say something cliche' like "It doesnt cook me breakfast" That joke is getting old folks. Cut it out.)
