4 out of 5 eggsQuite literally, the best RAM available... just barely within your price range.

Pros: I know what I'm getting when I buy G-Skill RAM, quality.

Cons: For un-researched and unknown reasons, DDR2 RAM, remains the most expensive aging technology in the consumer memory market.

It can make justifying costs difficult, especially to your higher ups.

Other Thoughts: You know you gotta have it, especially if your working with aging CPU's.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. DDR2 is expensive because it is no longer produced. Prices follow global supply and demand so we have no cotrol of it, but you can rest assured G.Skill will always have the lowest pricing compared to other brands. This is a high performance plug and play memory kit so it should work very well in your system. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

4 out of 5 eggsgood

Pros: good and cheap for restoring an older comp

Cons: none

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory is a good and affordable for boosting an older system. The main cause for older systems to slow down is low available physical memory. With today's high memory usage tasks, it can drastically slow down an older computer. By adding 4GB, it will be plenty of space for internet browsing, streaming, gaming, all at the same time. The lifespan of the computer can be maximized and prolonged, rather than purchasing a new computer. For any questions or concerns, please feel to contact us directly.

3 out of 5 eggsUGGGH!

Pros: Beautifully Logo'd/packaged module (heat spreader). No memory errors, was recognized and started to do it's job. Confident that G-Skill memory products are good.

Cons: Priced rediculously High! I could easily get 8GBs and possibly more for what I paid for this 1 module compared to DDR3 memory (even from NewEgg). But I don't have a DDR3 MB.

Other Thoughts: I have an older Asus M3A78-EM DDR2 MB and I've had my share of issues with it. Overcoming the last major ongoing issue has been memory and BSODs. Lost 1 memory slot and a 2GB memory module-dead. To get back to 8GB RAM, I had to get this 1 4GB module. It's wrkg, though after installing it, I had a SATA cable failure after data errors and transfer time-out problems "just mysteriously appeared". So I hope this module will be worth the trouble cause in in addition to all dat, for the 1st time ever, I had a shipping and CC fiasco with NewEgg!!! And no apologies.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Glad to hear you like the appearance of the module and the memory is working well in your system. This is 4GB single module that can greatly improve your system performance. Especially for older platforms, insufficient available physical memory can cause lag and delays. With a memory upgrade, everything should run much more smoothly. With regards to pricing, unfortunately that is something we can not control. It is based on global DRAM market price, so that is what we follow. But if you compare G.Skill to other brands, you will find that we are still most competitive. With G.Skill, you can't go wrong with the best quality product, pricing, service, and support. For any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Ram

Pros: Went from 4gb of ram to 12gb of ram with just 2 sticks that i added to my build that included Two 2gb gskill sticks and system is perfectly stable, The ram works great, i can compare my speed to a friend with 8gb of DDR3 and all without having to dish out money for a new Mobo.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Didn't even know 4gb sticks existed for DDR2

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great in an HPxw4600

Pros: I installed 4 of these in an HP xw4600 Workstation and it was recognized by the bios instantly! All 16GBs was available for use! The performance rating by WIN7 Pro 64bit gave it a score of 6.7! I am very happy with the fact that I now am able to use all 16 GBs if I need it without hitting my Harddrives Pagefile! I play alot of FPS Games and hated the infernal out of memory errors I had previously. With these babies installed I have had no Problems with Memory errors or Performance issues whatsoever!

Cons: Nothing wrong with the This Memory! However if you own an HP xw4600 Workstation and thinking of Maxing out the RAM you must first disable the ECC Checking in the bios before installing these Modules because these Modules DO NOT Support ECC.

Other Thoughts: I am thoroughly Satisfied with these Modules. I plan on Upgrading my Wife's and my Childrens PCs too! They also have HP xw4600 Workstations as well. What can I say we are a Gaming Family!
