5 out of 5 eggsWorks good

Pros: I wanted to add to the 2X2G memory kit I'd already installed in this machine. I picked this item because its specs seems very similar to what was already installed, and I was worried about compatibility. This memory has been working file so far.

Cons: None.

1 out of 5 eggsNot the same RAM?

Pros: None yet.

Cons: I cannot update a previous review so I will try to add another.
The problem is this RAM (older purchase) is working in my PC.
I ordered this because it was EXACTLY the same model number and specs as my current RAM. The replacement RAM actually may be good, but then it would NOT be the same RAM as my first purchase.
IMO it should be clearly stated that this may not be the same RAM as the original part number or should have at least had the model number and specs changed if it differs in any way from the original. I have done all the trouble shooting you would normally do on this RAM with hours of web research. My PC will simply not recognize it. I seriously doubt both sticks are just bad. Yes my board is pretty picky about RAM, but something close should at least post then cause problems. This RAM will not post in any configuration or settings I can use. Board is older and BIOS is as high as it will ever be.
On the off chance I am wrong or they actually use varying RAM under this model number at my expense I am doing an RMA. I am not hopeful it will work unless I receive ones which specs are the same as the original. If it fails I will again have to pay to send it back. Not cool.
I would update the review if I could, but I don’t see where it is possible.

Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you are having an issue. Unfortunately, RAM components are commonly updated, so the older RAM is surely much different than the new RAM received. The supply constantly changes based on what is available. From your statement, there may be a compatibility issue with your older motherboard as it may only support an older DDR3 specification. Please contact the G.Skill support team directly and we will see if there is a specific memory kit that will be compatible with your computer. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: None. Although the exact same model number has been working it my PC for years.

Cons: DOA. What can I say.
Have two of the same memory in PC now. They have been working for years. Any combination single, double, swap out existing (same model) RAM and nothing but lovely beeps :)
Tech knowledge - IT sys admin/desktop support 15+ years.

Other Thoughts: Not allowed to say any thing else. Rules:
Criticism of Newegg.com's service or the service of our operations partners. (FedEx, UPS, Paypal, etc.)

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you had such issues. Test one module at a time to see if a stick may be bad causing problems. If both modules have the same problem, it may be a compatibility issue with the newer modules. Check that you have the latest BIOS for the motherboard. Commonly, an update can improve compatibility and stability. It is unlikely both modules are completely dead, but you are more than free to send them in for RMA exchange to see if a replacement works better. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

Other Thoughts: I THOUGHT THE 1ST BAD BATCH WAS A FLUKE BUT THE REPLACEMENT DOESNT WORK EITHER!!!. I BEEN RUNNING THE SAME IDENTICAL RAM IN THE PC FOR QUITE SOMETIME, I BOUGHT IDENTICAL TO WHAT I CURRENTLY HAVE AND I WAS JUST TRYING TO ADD A FEW MORE GB AND BUT SO FAR ALL THE MATCHING RAM IVE ORDERED HAS BEEN DOA ALSO I DIDNT NOTICE UNTIL NOW BUT ANOTHER PREVIOUS REVIEWER SAID THE SAME THING D.O.A IM SO IRRATED

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

We apologize for any inconvenience. It is unlikley for two kits to be completely dead. Most likely it is a compatiblity issue with the latest DDR3 modules. Check that you have the latest BIOS for the computer. Updates are commonly released to improve hardware compatibility. If you continue to have an issue, contact the G.Skill support team directly and they will be glad to assist you. Rest assured we will make sure 8GB of RAM is working fast and stable in your computer.

Pros: nothing good to say about DOA, zero eggs if I could

Cons: dead out of the box. boo

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you had such issues. It is unlikely for both modules to be completely dead. Check that you have the latest BIOS for the motherboard. Updates are commonly released to improve compatibility. Test one module at a time to see if one can boot. 1 out of 5 eggsWhat a dissapointment

Pros: None.

Cons: Arrived DOA.

Other Thoughts: This is not my first set of G.Skill memory and up to now I have not had any problems with them. I am hoping this was just a fluke as I've already sent this set back and I am awaiting the replacements to be shipped out. Will add another review once I have installed the replacements.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. It is very strange the memory arrived DOA and did not work properly. This is a great plug and play memory kit so you should have no issues at all. If you continue to have issues with the new kit, test each to see if the system can boot with one module installed. If neither module works, you may have a defective motherboard or other peice of hardware. It is rare for G.Skill memory modules to be completely dead, so commonly the issue lies elsewhere. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly. We will make sure G.Skill RAM is working fast and stable in your computer.
