8GB RAM locking up
- Pros: It looks cool and feels sturdy.
- Cons: I bought these back in mid-August and ever since I have had nothing but problems. It will not run at the rated speed. When my board is set to auto, it runs at 800 Mhz. At 1200, it will just freeze right before the desktop loads. I have been able to run it at 1066 and 1133. These numbers could be a bit off cuz this is from my memory right now. I have tried it on Windows XP 64-bit and Windows 7 64-bit. I experienced locks up on both systems. I had a couple of Mushkin sticks laying around so I tried them and it worked fine. I also loaded WinXP 32-bit and still experiencing issues with the G.Skill RAM. Been trying to email G.Skill to get RMA but nothing yet.. hopefully they will see this review and respond.

Manufacturer Response:. Dear Customer We are sorry to hear you are having an issue with your memory package. With 8GB, you will need to make some adjustments in BIOS to allow for the capacity and speed. Memory voltage should be set to 2.1V. NB Voltage will need to be set to 1.40V. tRFC in memory timings should be set to 88. Please contact us with your computer specifications and we will be able to further assist you. Excellent for 4 gigs
- Pros: Very fast, setup was easy (once I went with 4 gigs instead of 8). They run cool.
- Cons: These are guaranteed speeds for 2x2 gig sticks, so if you're putting in 8, make sure your memory controller is going to be able to handle it.
- Other Thoughts: I would have liked it if I could have installed all 8 gigs, but working now with a 64-bit OS, 4 should be fine. I don't use a lot of concurrent programs running and essentially this is a work/gaming rig.
Great ram
- Pros: This is the memory to get if you're an avid s775 overclocker. It will run stock timings of 5-5-5-15 up to 1300mhz at ~2.2v. One of few memory types that will take a bit of voltage and keep going.
- Cons: price
- Other Thoughts: Works fanatastically in ga-ep45-ud3r (f9 bios) alongside q9650 at 4500mhz. Might keep me occupied long enough so I can wait to upgrade till i9.
