5 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: Its cheap and it works. No wait -- it changed my life.

Cons: It wasn't free.

Other Thoughts: Free shipping was nice, because I'm a fairly patient man. If you're not willing to wait for a week, maybe you should cough up the extra dough to get it faster, because while I've always gotten stuff really fast before, it actually took a full week this time. Maybe USPS cutbacks to blame -- Newegg shipped it promptly, outstanding job as always.

5 out of 5 eggsGood, Fast, Flawless Memory

Pros: Runs at 1.8v.

It barely gets warm to the touch. Heatsink is really unnecessary unless maybe in the case of overclocking, and even then I doubt a heatsink is required.

The G.Skill brand is one of the very top favorites in the enthusiast community.

Cons: It wasn't free.

5 out of 5 eggsBuy with a new laptop!

Pros: This memory module is a great little upgrade for a new laptop, doubling the memory capacity of [for example] a new Acer Aspire E1-571-6680, or any other laptop with 4GB stock memory. For less than $30, the value is huge.

Cons: This memory module is not the very top of the line in terms of speed or capacity, but it *is* the best value in terms of upgrading an entry-level current-generation laptop (2013 at the time of this writing).

Other Thoughts: Few things are more frustrating than buying a new computer and then running in to latency, lag, and unresponsiveness within the first week or two of using it. This can happen easily with an entry-level laptop, usually in the $400 range. For less than $30 more, you can double your RAM. When using my computer, I generally have running:
at least a dozen browser tabs
music
whatever other program I was working in three days ago
some sort of game or other application running in the background.

With this memory upgrade, my computer doesn't even flinch at these high levels of multi-tasking concurrency.

Additionally, computers may pre-load the most often-used programs at startup. Additional memory will allow the computer to pre-load more programs without using a page file on the disk, eliminating the hang time that comes when you open a program (eg, browser, Adobe, Office, etc).

BOTTOM LINE:
----------------------------------
for less than $30, a valuable upgrade for new laptop. I am very satisfied with this purchase.

5 out of 5 eggsUpgrade your Mom's craptaculous computer

Pros: This memory module is inexpensive and has an excellent capacity, particularly for the older-generation computers which it fits. This module is the one of the best values in terms of increasing computer performance for the amount of money you can spend for a computer upgrade.

Cons: none, really. This memory module might not the highest speed, but for an older computer that takes this kind of RAM (240-pin DDR2) , the difference is negligible.

Other Thoughts: Does someone you care about have a very poor, old computer, like an old desktop with Windows XP? This 2GB DDR2 memory module was just the thing for my dear old mother's computer with 512MB of memory, 64MB of which was shared with the onboard video, leaving her with 448MB of memory.

Click ....

(more than 60 seconds later)

... browser windows opens

With this $30-something upgrade, her available memory has increased four-, almost fivefold.

Some older computers, like some older people, can have poor memory and slow reaction times. Don't let this happen to the people in your life who matter to you. Now, my mom's computer is snappy and responsive, immediately responding to input, even when multiple tabs, windows, and applications are running.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's RAM. It works

Pros: It does what it's supposed to do

Cons: DDR2 can come down in price already some more. I promise I won't get upset if it does.

Other Thoughts: Added one of these to a new build (with older components, of course) that only had 2GB RAM. The extra 2GB made a huge difference in overall performance. I'm going to add another 2GB soon to act as a buffer for light gaming. Windows 7 uses enough system memory by itself, and games are power hogs.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Ram for the Price

Pros: 1. Price
2. Low Profile

Cons: None to report, ram seems to work just fine

Other Thoughts: For a brand that I have never tried it worked flawlessly and no problems out of the box. Helped to max out the ram on my compaq computer.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Cheap. 1 of 2 sticks works.

Cons: DEFECTIVE!
Now *I* have to pay to ship it back for a replacement. Not GSkill, me.

Other Thoughts: I should've stayed with Kingston.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear a module is not working properly. Please send it in for RMA exchange and a replacement should work flawlessly. Whether online or physically in person, it is always the responsibility of the vendor to make sure the buyer initially receives a good working product. Once beyond the 30 day return/exchange policy, then it is the responsiblity of the manufacturer if there is a manufacturer warranty policy. So if you receive a defective module from NewEgg, contact them as soon as possible to arrange a RMA exchange. They can have a new module out to you immediately so you can get your system running. For any further questions or concerns, feel free to contact us directly.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Flawlessly (Linux mainly)

Pros: I have a 2 gig PQI memory stick with different CAS (CL) numbers than this GSkill stick. I removed it and did as follows. Unplug the a.c. power cord, press the on/off switch to drain the psu capacitors. Remove the DRAM (ddr, what ever you call it.) Power the computer back up. You will hear 3 tones. Shut down. Unplug power. Touch on/off switch to drain capacitors in psu. Plug in both memory sticks. Close up box. Power up. Enjoy new RAM with differing timings, differing voltages. Even though, the day after I purchased this memory from Newegg a leading competitor had a 2 gig stick for $5 less, I would not have known to do the power down/remove all memory trick if it weren't for Newegg. I read it in one of the above reviews. So the $5 difference is more than worth the price on the aggravation I saved by knowing what to do, before I did it.

Cons: none. Well, I cannot post a jpg of the two banks of RAM as seen by the BIOS Memory-Z. It shows the tiniest difference in timings. And voltages.

Other Thoughts: As I write this the memory has been working 2:38 and I'll update this if anything goes wrong. But as it's running fine, that is unlikely. Does not remember my name. (when powered down)

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good R.A.M.

Pros: Bought this for a broken stock stick that came in a pair so I have one of these and a stock stick working together and i must say its amazing, My "R.a.m-ometer" on windows 7 never goes above 50 percent no matter what im doing even gaming or have multiple tabs open so imagine i had two of these.

Cons: none G-skill really impressed me

Other Thoughts: Lifetime warranty is a big plus aswell
