5 out of 5 eggsperforms just like on the tin

Pros: a brand well-known for its quality RAM modules. I selected these because of that. There are some not-as-well-known brands which sell for less, but didn't want to take a chance on them, wanted it to work the first time with no fuss.

Cons: price per gigabyte. But what can you expect for tech which is two generations old? Tech is expensive in the beginning, then as R&D and tooling costs are covered, price settles into a market norm. But then as tech standards improve, it's decreasingly profitable to keep producing the old tech, so I'm getting in on the upward slope of the price curve. A similar kit for DDR3 is around 3/5ths the price, and 4GB of DDR4 (doesn't seem to be sold in smaller than 4GB per module) is around 2/5ths the price.

Would be convenient for less packaging if there were a kit of 4 modules, but that's very minor.

Other Thoughts: I got an HP dx2400 for nothing, but it came w/o any RAM. This max'ed it out, breathing new life into this computer. It runs quite well with no difficulties whatsoever.

1 out of 5 eggsOK for almost half a day

Pros: Installed relatively easily. Worked for a while

Cons: One module (out of 2) failed after 8 hours. I think I'll spend the extra bucks and stick to Crucial. I'm sure trying to get a refund will be a delightful experience.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Hi Michael

We are sorry to hear a module abruptly failed. Rest assured all G.Skill memory kits are backed by a manufacturer lifetime warranty. Send them in for RMA exchange and a new kit should work flawlessly. This is an outstanding plug and play memory kit so we are certain you can be very pleased with the performance and reliability. 5 out of 5 eggsFoxxcon AG7M-S AM2 with DDR2

Pros: Installed in old Foxxcon AG7M-S socket AM2 (DDR2 PC2-6400) system and maxed out to 8GB with 4x 2GB modules. Runs in Dual Channel, unganged. All 4 modules run at 400Mhz according to CPU-Z which is absolutely normal. Worked perfectly first install.

Cons: Doesn't come with heat spreader but it has a GSkill hologram sticker on the module so I know it will be supported if I need to contact their customer service with any issues.

Other Thoughts: Nice upgrade for an older legacy system that started off running XP, then Vista, now Windows 7. One of my old ram modules died while on Vista. Decided time for an upgrade. I actually installed Windows 7 on 2 GB and ran it that way for months. Surprisingly it ran pretty well but couldn't multi-task for anything. Now with 8GB it feels like a whole different computer. Can open as many programs as I want simultaneously. 8GB of DDR2 is a great upgrade for older DDR2 only motherboards. All programs work smoother and faster with more RAM.

1 out of 5 eggsDefective.

Pros: If it works your lucky!

Cons: Defective out of the package, good luck with RMA from GSKILL. They have a nice system in place to make it very hard to get your RMA complete. I would not recommend any GSKILL memory product.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Hi James

We are sorry to hear the memory did not work well in your system. This is a great plug and play memory for DDR2 motherboards that can support 2GB modules. With an additional 4GB, the operating system can be very fast and smooth. To determine whether a module is defective, test one stick at a time to see if one performs differently. If both have similar issues, check to see if you have the latest BIOS for the motherboard. Updates are released to improve compatibility. If a module is in fact defective, send it in for RMA exchange and a replacement should work flawlessly. The G.Skill RMA process is quick and hassle free. Complete the RMA form on the G.Skill home page, send in the memory, then new replacements will be out to you shortly. Within the USA, turn around time is typically less than a week, so there is no difficulty at all. With G.Skill, you get the best quality product, price, support, and service.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks and expected & satisified with the results

Pros: Installed this memory into a Dell XPS420 which is 8 years old and still running strong with Windows 10. Upgraded from 3 gb to 8 gb since I am running windows 64 bit. Memory packaged well and had zero issues installing it. Machine runs a little faster but its faster memory than what was replaced. Happy with the purchased and it was about the right price.

Cons: None

1 out of 5 eggsNot blue

Pros: It's fine hardware.

Cons: Had several choices when deciding what memory to purchase. Chose this one specifically to go with my blue motherboard. They're green!

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Glad to hear the memory is working well in your system. This is a plug and play 4GB memory kit perfect for any DDR2 motherboard that can support 2GB modules. With an additional 4GB of capacity, never worry about low available physical memory. The operating system can remain nice and smooth under any memory intensive task or high load situation. Lag and delays should never happen. With regards to the PCB color, unfortunately it can change depending on batch. If you need green, contact the G.Skill RMA dept. to see if they have any green available for this particular model. We can exchange it if it is possible. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

2 out of 5 eggs3 of the 4 sticks work.

Pros: Stable, affordable, good price.

Cons: 1 of the sticks didn't let me load Windows. after taking it to a repair shop, i learned that 1 of the sticks had a bunch of memory errors on it. Will RMA soon. A BIG headache all around for troubleshooting.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Glad to hear you got the memory at a good price and it is working stable in your system. This is a very popular plug and play memory kit. With additional memory capacity, you can expect the operating system to remain nice and smooth even during memory intensive situations. To troubleshoot RAM, test one module at a time to see if one performs differently. All modules should perform the same, so if not, send them in for RMA exchange and a replacement should work much better. To prevent headaches in the future, please feel free to contact us directly. We will make sure G.Skill memory is operating at maximum performance in your computer.

5 out of 5 eggsA snap to install

Pros: These work well in my computer. Install took about 8 minutes. DDR2 can be difficult to find.

Cons: I know it is dumb but they aren't blue like the picture, just standard green.
