Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you are having an issue with your memory package, but we can definitely assist you with that. Please make sure that memory settings in BIOS are properly set. Make sure memory frequency is DDR2-900. Memory Timings tCL 4 - tRCD 4 - tRP 4 - tRAS 12 - Command Rate 2. Memory Voltage should be 2.10V. Once that is complete, save and exit, everything should be running smoothly. If not, try testing each memory module individually to determine if you have a bad stick. If indeed you do, simply visit our website for complete RMA procedures and we will be more than glad to have that replaced with a new set.

Thank you

4 out of 5 eggsRun at spec'd speeds but don't count on overclocking

Pros: The pro's are the specs.

Cons: They do not overclock.

Other Thoughts: They are good if you don't plan on overclocking. I can't even run my pc 1:1 ratio.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase. In order to overclock with these specs, you may need to relax some timings to 5. Anything near DDR2-1000 will not be able to operate the stock timings. Also, memory voltage should be set to 2.1V. Overclocking depends on the motherboard as well, so make sure actual values are being supplied especially with memory voltage. If you have any further questions, please feel free to let us know.

5 out of 5 eggsbetter

Pros: forget my last review. i hadnt tweaked them enough

900mhz 4-4-4-12 1.8v
1000mhz 5-5-5-12 1.8v
970mhz 4-4-4-12 2.2+ volts (went thru memtest with 8 errors at 2.2 so a couple more notches and it will be stable with these timings.)

Cons: again none

Other Thoughts: same

5 out of 5 eggsgood

Pros: 900mhz 4-4-4-12 1.8v
1000mhz 5-5-5-15 2.0v
they look cool.

Cons: they are tall?

Other Thoughts: i went from 3gb ddr800 to 4gb ddr900 on xp so there wasnt a huge increase in performance but they do the job.

evga 750i for the win. (lol wouldnt let me put the regular name)
c2d e6600 at 3.6ghz

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome deal and great RAM

Pros: Great ram, took it out and slaped it in the MBO and booted Vista.

Cons: It wasn't free and didn't have more of the GSkill stickers...

Other Thoughts: This is well worth the money and a better deal than most other ram kits...

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great Ram, runs at rated speed at 1.9v. Running at 912mhz at 4-4-4-12.

Cons: Doesn't Overclock too well, barely got to 1000mhz at 5-5-5-15, but at 4-4-4-12 it's at 912mhz. Going to do some more tests and see if I can get it to 1066mhz and see the difference in performance.

Other Thoughts: Windows/programs do seem to respond quicker. The heatsinks keep it nice and cool.

4 out of 5 eggsStable so far at ratedspeed, may not OC well...

Pros: Runs stable at 1.95V at rated speed of 900, 4-4-4-12 on P5WDH with E6400 processor.
The 4 GB helped me install MS-Vista to my PC in dual boot with WinXP.
Good price point.

Cons: 1. SiSoft Memory bandwidth tests shows low bandwidth/performance on this RAM...lower than even some PC2-6400 RAMs. But this could be the memory controller on P5WDH. In actual day-to-day usage I have not seen a great deal of difference on account of this upgrade, neither positive nor negative.

2. Overclock: Tried raising the voltage to recommended 2.1V and frequency to 1000 without success. Also tried to lower to CL3 at 900. Mobo would not startup in both cases. So while it looks fine at specified values, any attempt to squeeze out more performance seems unsuccessful. Again this could be because of on Mobo . I have the older P5WDH.

Other Thoughts: I replaced G.Skill PC2-6400 1GB sticks with this 2 2GB sticks of this RAM in my P5WDH. Just before the upgrade I updated by board BIOS from 2400 to 2801 but did not load BIOS defaults after the update. New RAM was behaving strangely...working sometime and not booting up at other times and not allowing processor overclocking. Later I loaded BIOS defaults and re-configured all of my BIOS settings and after that things things improved a lot. I can overclock processor now and run the RAM stable at rated speed and clocks. All of the RAM overclocking described above was attempted after loading the BIOS defaults.

Based on my research as well as on the day-to day performance, this RAM is as good as a DDR2-1066 at CL5. Maybe a shade better than DDR2-6400 at CL4.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear customer

P5WDH 975 chipset is not good to running lower CAS rate. We used to have CL3 DDR2 800 and bandwidth test is slower than 800 CL5. if you are not able to reach over DDR2 1000 CL5, it might be the TRFC since it doesn't have very high TRFC option for this motherboard. use memset to check our what value it use at DDR2 900.

4 out of 5 eggsGood.Skill

Pros: It is really cheap for the quality/performance you recieve.
It does stay very cool

Cons: not sure if its a con yet, but like another reviewer I couldn't hit much above 850MHz even after upping the voltage. I did happen to have an older model of the exact same timings of G.skill only difference was they were .1V higher. I've had my machine e6300 up to 3.1Ghz with just the 2GB kit, but after putting these in, never could get stable past 2Ghz.

Other Thoughts: I will try later when I get time to check the top clock without the older 2GB kit. I'm running a ASUS P5B Deluxe. - Solid board, but even better brand of RAM is G.Skill.
