4 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Fast, stable, runs easily at the advertised timings and frequency.

Cons: Has to be overclocked to run at advertised speeds (because it uses non-standard voltage, and a motherboard would not set that from the spd)

It does, however, run perfectly fine (albeit slower) without changing anything in the bios. You'll find this to be the case with alot of low timing DDR3, however, I'm still docking an egg, 1.9 volts is fairly high.

Other Thoughts: Does what it's supposed to. Don't let the seemingly high timings turn you off from DDR3 though, since the timings are measured in clock cycles, and DDR3 runs at a higher clock rate, the actual amount of time in the delay is similar to DDR2.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Depending on your motherboard and CPU combination, you may need to overclock your system to operate at 1600. Please check with your motherboard manufacturer if you are unsure. Although the voltage specification is 1.9V, it is normal for high performance DDR3 memory modules. These not only operate DDR3-1600, but they are CAS latency 7 which is relatively low. Compared to slower, older DDR2 memory, of course it is higher because you can not compare DDR2-1066 with DDR3-1600. Like you stated, the DDR3 will without a doubt still be much faster. If you have any questions or issues, please feel free to contact us and we will be glad to assist you.

Thank you

Quality and customer service are our top priorities.
