5 out of 5 eggsWell made Memory

Pros: I have this ram in my gaming pc, and simply love the ease of installation and heatsinks work well with fan coolers, I have played farcry 4 maxed on my gaming rig and still haven't pushed my ram to full extent. ran around 45-60fps on ultra high 1920x1080 resolution would recommend for any build that is using ddr2 memory

Cons: none

3 out of 5 eggsG Skill DDR2 PC-8500 1066 MHz Pi Series

Pros: 1 kit (2x2GB) worked well boots fine & is stable.
Shows up as 1066 in Bios (GA-EP45-UD3P Motherboard).

Cons: 2nd kit (2x2GB) had 1 stick that caused the system to not boot at all, the other stick would cause system to lock up right after windows started. Adjusted Bios voltage from 2.0-2.1 volts with same results. Contacted G Skill for RMA.

Other Thoughts: Hard to find DDR2 memory now. Was hoping these would help speed up old 775 socket system. CPU is Intel Core-2 Quad Q9650. 8GB Mushkin memory works fine in this system, but those are in wife's 775 PC- but shows this is not a MB issue.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you had such issues. This memory kit is surely compatible with the Gigabyte motherboard. Once you set the DRAM frequency, timings, and voltage, the RAM should work flawlessly in your system. Keep in mind additional tweaks may be necessary to stabilize full slots of DDR2-1066. The motherboard is only rated for 2 modules of DDR2-1066. To bypass this limitation, it is necessary to boost the MCH Core Voltage, and possibly adjust some advanced timings. Should you need assistance once you receive the new kit, please feel free to contact us directly and we will be glad to help.

Thank you

4 out of 5 eggsupgraded ram

Pros: works with minimal configuration

Cons: expensive ram for such an old system

Other Thoughts: the heat syncs are flashy but also functional, overall I'm happy with the purchase

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory is working well in your system. This is a high performance memory kit that is great for systems that can support it. In fact, this is the lasting high end DDR2 RAM on the market. Soon there will be no more and only standard DDR2-800 RAM will be available. Due to the rare availability, it is reflected in pricing. The heat spreaders are definitely functional in cooling down the modules that can get hot especially during overclocking 2.10V+. G.Skill does not produce any non-functional designs for flashy reasons. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsadded G.Skill with Corsair

Pros: The quality is very good. Prior to ordering I contacted G.Skill support and asked them if adding their memory existing 2 x 2 Corsair dominator, PC8500, 5-5-5-15 will cause any negative issues. They replied same day and gave me advice that I may have to make a couple adjustments and where at (MCH and maybe voltage). Excellent support.

Cons: None at this time

Other Thoughts: I'm pleased to say that adding the 4GB of G.Skill memory to my current 4GB of Corsair memory worked perfect and, I didn't need to change any values. Both brands of memory are PC8500 and same timings, 5-5-5-15. My BIOS detected the additional memory and kept the speed at 1066. All the timings, voltages and MCH are the same. I did not need to tweak any values. I ran memtest86 bootable ver 4.0a for 10 passes and no errors. I ran Prime95 for 6.5 hours and no errors, no warnings. Launching programs is snappier, quicker and even shutdown happens quicker. I think boot time is the same....haven't timed it yet. My MOBO is Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3R,LGA775, intel P45, it likes G.Skill and Corsair memory. When I build another computer I'll use G.Skill or Corsair memory.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works as advertised, good memory. Will run 5-5-5-15 timings up to 1066 at least. Great for trying to get the last bit out of old 775's etc.

Cons: None so far

5 out of 5 eggsF2-8500CL5D-4GBPI-B (8GB)

Pros: Bringing back some life to an aging PC. :) For years had 4GB's module kit and kept putting off upgrading. The old 4GB modules were no longer avail and didn't play nice with the new 2x2 PI's. So ordered a total of 2x4 Pi 1066 kits and still working out the bells & whistles. (finger's crossed).
~G-Skill tech support is Amazing & VERY helpful~

Cons: Nothing as of yet. Hopefully resurrecting an old built without having to 'move to the new tech' just yet.

Other Thoughts: Not really a Con. Due to my intermittent knowledge (Jack of all trades, so to speak) regarding bios & settings, I'm working with the GSkill techs to get it running 'Stable!' I'm not really a heavy gamer, but do enjoy dabbling in Photo/Video editing.

Setup for the 'old workhorse':
GA-EP45-UD3P (rev. 1.0) F10 bios
Intel Core2Quad Q6600 with G0
-on the way- ZOTAC ZT-61012-10M
80GB SSD boot
1TB Veloceraptor

1 out of 5 eggsDead Ram Stick.

Pros: Good Ram Sticks, been using them on my last laptops.

I just had my G-Skills DDR2 8500 deliver to my house, pot them in and nothing. I try each stick one by one and found that one stick out of two is defective.

Cons: On the package states that they are %100 hand tested, In my opinion they are not. I inserted the sticks in and my computer didn't boot. So i try one stick at a time and found out that one stick didn't work.

My fist buy for DDR2 and they Fail, I'm really disappointed.

Now i have to send them back and exchange them for working ones and I have to wait again for them to arrive at my house.

Other Thoughts: Just bothers me that it says they are %100 hand tested, well i think they have to check twice before releasing them for sale.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Customer Service

Pros: I bought 2 of these kits for a total of 8gb, but I had a problem at first getting these dual channel kits to work at 1066 and getting my Bios to see all 8gb, but after contacting G-Skill's Tech support, the kits are up and running at full speed. The tech support department at G-Skill went above and beyond to help me set this memory up on my computer. I would not hesitate in the future to pick G-Skill again!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat RAM

Pros: Installed no problem, booted right up. Smaller heat sinks than the replaced OCZ ram (1 of 4 sticks failed). Now have 4G with 2 sticks instead of 4.

Cons: None yet
