5 out of 5 eggsWorked In My Old LGA775 Motherboard

Pros: Worked In My Old LGA775 Lenovo Motherboard.
Sick Looking Heatspreaders.
Good Price.
Boosted My PC's Performance.

Cons: None really. Packaging left a bit to be desired though.

Other Thoughts: G. Skill RAM has a rep for being good quality and has been known to be some of the best on the market. My ageing LGA775 Lenovo M58 was in need of a performance boost... So I decided to try this RAM out. I was a bit worried that the old motherboard might not work with it.. But I threw it in there and she started right up. No problems at all. It gave me a noticeable boost in speed. Highly recommended for people with old PC's like mine that need a bit of love. I'll be ordering another set.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent value

Pros: It came assembled in original packaging. It performs at the specified timings (though I had to manually set those, more my motherboard than this memory's fault) and so far is an amazing value for the money spent. G.Skill has my business (for now... there's always room for failure right?).

Cons: None so far. I had some trouble installing them, but that's my motherboard not liking how I tried to install them... so that cant really be counted against the memory itself. I did and did not like the package. It was easy to open, but it wasn't "sealed" exactly and could have been opened before. Reduces confidence... it was easy to open though... and... eh. Buy the RAM anyway.

Other Thoughts: I am satisfied with my purchase and it plays well with the other sticks of kingston RAM (I only know it is kingston because I used CPU-z to read the model and googled it... it's very generic kingston RAM, really weird.. and it runs at the timings THIS ram runs at, go figure).

You will probably need to manually set the timings. Maybe your motherboard will properly detect them though? An excellent buy and I will buy more for my next computer.

5 out of 5 eggsNo problems

Pros: Has been completely reliable since install.

Cons: None thus far.

Other Thoughts: I have a Lenovo work station which just seems to hate any RAM which isn't timed in the 7-7-7 (All Seven Fever!) arena.

There aren't a lot of budget sticks in that setup, and I picked these up because they got decent reviews, wouldn't break the bank, and met my timing requirements.

I've not been disappointed. The finicky CPU hasn't had a BSOD since they went in, and there's not a lot more you can ask from workstation-grade RAM than that.

The styling is a little silly for something so humble, but you're likely not sticking these in something you're showing off in a transparent case anyway, so no biggie.

5 out of 5 eggsLifetime Warranty

Pros: One of the two 2g memory chips was defective upon purchase in 2009. However, I failed to return them for warranty replacement until recently. I used the GSKILL website to apply for an RMA. There are a set of shipping instructions that must be strictly followed to facilitate a flawless exchange. To this end, I used a shareware product called Memtest86 to ascertain the requisite proof of defect. By testing each memory chip independently (remove all but one from the motherboard), I was able to isolate the chip that was defective. As I had purchased the chip in a set, I returned the pair in their original packaging. I obtained proof of purchase from via the Newegg "My Account" feature which stores a record of all purchases. The only downside to the entire warranty procedure was the USPS shipping costs and padded envelope. The GSKILL RMA department was extremely courteous and prompt in its replies. There was a 5 day turn around time from the day of shipment.

Cons: None; performance of replacement memory is rock solid. I am using it in an overclocked configuration.

Other Thoughts: Do your homework. Buy the memory that best optimizes the performance of your particular system (Overclockers should pay special attention to timing specs). Keep original packaging for potential returns.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Looks good
Easy to install
Noticeable performance increase
Arrived on time
Easy open packaging

Cons: None yet, other than having to wrestle my wiring bundle out of the way to access the RAM slots.

Other Thoughts: Picked this up to augment the 8GB of RAM my PC came with originally. Arrived on time, was very easy to get into, and once I got my wiring harness out of the way, while making sure not to knock into my graphics card, it was easy. Just line up the slots press until you hear a click, lock them in place, and you're done. The only majorly RAM-intensive thing I could try last night, was Secondlife, and even in sims that normally would bog me down for a good 5 minutes while they were loading, it was just ready for me. Granted, only so much of that can be attributed to RAM. But nevertheless, I was tired after work, so I didn't really push it much. My next day off, however, will see a more rigorous use of this product.

Also, Newegg had (Another company) beat this time. I bought these sticks through Newegg for $47.99 with $5.99 shipping, and (Another company because evidently a type of female warrior is a swear word on here) has these exact same sticks on sale for $74.99....ouch.

1 out of 5 eggsDead on arrival

Pros: Looks awesome

Cons: Dead on arrival

Other Thoughts: Amidst real life, I missed the 30 day window to return these. Product never worked, so now I'm stuck with $50 worth of dead memory.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

The RAM may be incompatible with your system, and if that's the case, we can send you a different product that will work flawlessly. This is part of the G.Skill guarantee. Once you purchase G.Skill, you won't need to look elsewhere.

5 out of 5 eggsAbsolutely Stable

Pros: Easy to install, inexpensive, reliable, fast, compatible. Even now a couple of years later it's still good memory. I haven't even tried overclocking it. G.SKILL has become my favorite. I won't even look at other brands.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I bought these a couple of years ago when I upgraded my computer. I don't play many games, but the one I do have is Trainz 2012 simulator and I wanted equipment that could handle the rendering and data manipulation load. I recently purchased an organ simulation program called Hauptwerk by Milan Audio. The program can really throw data (audio) around, especially with a decent size organ with a lot of ranks of pipes. In some cases more than a 100 at once.

System:
MSI NF980-G65 AMD mother board (Intel who?)
Athalon Phenom II 555 dual core CPU at 3.2 GHz
4GB G.SKILL DDR3 1333 RAM 7-7-7-21
MSI GeForce GTX 560 Ti video
Samsung HD103SJ 1TB SATA HD (partitioned into 2 drives)
LITE-ON DVD burner
ULTRA X4 1000W power supply
Antec full tower window case (don't know the model - have had it for 6+ years) with 5 green LED 80mm fans
Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
