5 out of 5 eggsWorks

Pros: Does what it's supposed to do without any fiddling.

Cons: I'm not convinced the heatsinks do anything non cosmetic.

2 out of 5 eggsNOT THE SAME MEMORY AS PICTURED

Pros: Works, sort of

Cons: It is not the same memory as pictured. I bought this to ad a couple of sticks that would be compatible with my old memory of the same type. This new memory arrived and it has different specifications. It runs at 1.5v or 1.6v max not the 1.6 or 1.65 max that the old ripjaws did. After numerous problems i found that If I want to use the new with the old I had to make sure they weren't used on the same memory channel. Even the packaging is wrong. It lists a different voltage than is listed on the sticks. As a result I have had to lower the memory voltage and some timings so both types will work together. I would be returning the memory except nothing else is even remotely compatible. And I plan I building a completely new rig within 6 months.

Other Thoughts: GsKill decided to reply to my last review with some incorrect assumptions. They said

"Sounds like 8GB of this RAM is working just fine in your system."

First off I now have 10GB of RAM because they don't sell the triple channel packs anymore. So assuming what hardware you customer has is not good business and insulting. Also it is not working fine. If it was I would not have had to slow down some times and the voltage.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Memory components of the same exact model can change over time. Only a single kit of RAM is guaranteed to work properly in each system. If you choose to mix-match separate kits, the rated specifications are no longer guaranteed. To attempt multiple kits in the same system, make sure each kit is installed in the same color slots, and expect to lower frequency or increase timings for them to match well enough to work together. We do not mean to insult you, we simply want to make sure the RAM is working fine in your system. If you are having problems and the memory is not working fine, we hope that you will contact us so we can help make sure the G.Skill RAM is running at maximum performance. Although we highly recommend going against utilizing multiple memory kits, we will still do our best to make sure your computer is 100% stable and as fast as it can be.

Thank you

Other Thoughts: Don't buy as an upgrade if you have older sticks of the same ram. Best idea is to buy new sticks of different ram.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

The memory specifications may be slightly different, but they will perform the same. The new RAM may be slightly lower voltage, but it can work just fine at the higher voltage as well. Only a single kit of RAM should be used in a system, but if you are to attempt multiple kits, it is best to have each kit installed in the same color slots. This applies whether the specifications are different, or the same. Sounds like 8GB of this RAM is working just fine in your system. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsgood memory-plug and play

Pros: Price. Certified compatible with the ASUS M5A78L-M USB3 motherboard.Hassle free install, just plug it in and go!
Easy to overclock and runs stable when OC'ed.

Cons: Size, Would have preferred 4gb in a single stick so I could have 16gb total ram in this system. But no biggie.

Other Thoughts: what's to think about? It's good solid memory and it even looks pretty with the heat spreaders.
