Pros: The kit installed in an Asus U81A-RX05 laptop. On Asus's support site, the model is U80A(Best Buy). The BIOS (Version 210) recognizes all 8GB of memory. Windows 7 Experience Index is 5.6 for memory. CNET indicates the maximum installed size is 4.0GB. The laptop has the Mobile Intel GM45 Express chipset, further research on Intel's website confirmed this chipset supports 8GB of memory.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: The review by Yuri on February 22, 2010 was helpful. Even though I had a different Asus laptop. This was a gamble and it worked. Price is not too bad for an 8GB kit with 2 x 4GB modules. My second memory upgrade kit by G.Skill without incident. Crucial.com wanted about $380 for a similar size kit, saved about $150 with this kit.

Pros: 1) Cheap
2) It works. :)

Cons: Wasn't free.

Other Thoughts: The PM965 chipset in the Lenovo T61 was never validated to work with 4GB SODIMMS. These modules will work though, since apparently the chipset will work with 256Mx8 chips (which is what the Hynix chips are on these modules). Keep in mind not only that Lenovo never validated this to work, but that Intel never validated the PM965 to work with anything larger than 1Gb tech modules. These modules get away with working on the PM965 since although it's 2Gb tech, the modules are arranged on the SODIMM in a 256 x 16 chip fashion (which apparently the chipset can use). Keep in mind too that 512Mx4 modules most likely WILL NOT work, so you will not be able to use other SODIMMS that only have 4 modules per side of the DIMM.

BTW, I'm using Bios 2.26 on the notebook too. :)

Pros: The shipping was free and came in 3-5 business days. The memory is very inexpensive compared to the price of 4GB modules sold by other manufacturers.

Cons: This memory apparently doesn't play very well with Toshiba Satellite laptops. I have a Toshiba Satellite L505D-LS5005. I inserted the memory and powered on my machine to find a blank screen. After testing each module it was apparent that my machine would power on with these sticks but would not POST with them. Went and bought a stick of Patriot 4GB PC6400 DDR2 So-DIMM and my machine fired up just fine with it installed.

Other Thoughts: If you have similar issues, be sure to test each individual stick before deeming them both defective/incompatible. If they work, great; if they don't, you get what you pay for - cheap memory.

Pros: Newegg shipped it quickly and the price was low.

Cons: It didn't work in my Toshiba Satellite A505D-S6968 with up to date BIOS version 1.60.

Other Thoughts: Trying each chip individually still failed to get it do much more than turn on - it still would not make it to the post screen. Toshiba tech support said that since I have the most up to date BIOS, I was pretty much out of luck. No response yet from G.Skill technical support. Oh well, it was worth a shot.

Other Thoughts: I contacted G.Skill about this ram and there best solution was to check my bios, which is up to date and and I wish that they had a compatabiliy checker to a notice that this ram would not work before I spent my hard earned money on this. I know that they are working with HP on based on the previous posts but I would really like to see a fix for this, and I am really looking forward to upgrading my computers ram. Please G.Skill use your muscle and get this done ASAP!

Unfortunately, for pre-built computers such as your HP, a fix may take slightly longer since the manufacturer does not produce the hardware itself, only assembly, so technical issues such as these may take a bit of time. Pros: Outstanding upgrade for my Asus G51VX. I did a fresh install of vista 64bit when i purchased the pc. I upgraded with 8gb of ram and installed 500GB HD in the expansion slot. The memory that was installed in the pc was a cheaper korean 4gb kit. I can tell a good differance in the stability of the system under stress.

Pros: Price?

Cons: Did not work. Previous review stated it worked in a HP dv7 so I ordered. When I got my set it did not work. Contacted Gskill tech support. There answer was literally was "Dear customer,

Other Thoughts: It would be nice if Gskill had a compatibility matrix on their website. 2 starts was more for Newegg than this memory.
