1 out of 5 eggsAARGH!

Pros: Price?

Cons: I purchased this memory to use in a laptop. I
ended up trying to install in 3 different laptops. As soon as I installed the memory and turned any of the computers on, they crashed and would not start until the memory was removed.
I tried with Dell 4310, 6410 and 6420- all with the same result- a computer that wouldn't boot until the memory was removed
When I replaced the G.Skill memory with memory purchased from another vendor, all 3 computers ran/run fine.
I'm sure I'll never use G. Skill again.

Other Thoughts: I handle computer support for our church- 9 laptops and 6 desktops. In addition, I own about laptops.
I have installed countless memory upgrades in numerous computers in the past 20 years and never had a problem with a memory upgrade until trying the G.Skill.

Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you had such issues. Sounds like a module may have been defective and causing problems. To determine this, test one module at a time to see if one module can perform properly. This memory kit should work with those laptops. If one module performs differently than the other, send them in for RMA exchange and a new kit should work much better. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsIt's RAM, it either works or doesn't

Pros: Reasonable price
Decent speed and timings
Worked as expected

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Installed it, ran memtest86+ for a few hours, ran flawlessly.

Was a little disappointed that it's running at 533 MHz in dual channel mode, but that's a limitation of my chipset and not the RAM itself.

5 out of 5 eggsStill going Strong!

Pros: Still going Strong after nearly 3 years, updating my previous review.

Lifetime Warranty.

Cons: N/A

Other Thoughts: Have installed this same exact model & amount of RAM in a 2nd notebook, a Toshiba Satellite A665-S6086 (i3 370M Arrandale). Both notebooks are still running strong, no RAM issues at all.

When it comes to RAM, one cannot go wrong with GSkill, with a Lifetime warranty.

I'm soon considering upgrading my XPS 8700 to the max, to 32GB DDR3 1600MHz (8GB x4) & GSkill will be my first & only choice.

As long as one checks which model is right for their computer, there shouldn't be any problem. If so, the folks at GSkill will take care of it.

Funny, RAM must be a commodity, as the 1st set that was purchased was $29.99 & 2 years later paid over twice that for the same exact set. I don't blame GSkill (or Newegg) for that, obviously the market was saturated with RAM in the fall of 2011.

With DDR4 around the corner, I look for supplies to tighten further, though there will be a demand for DDR3 RAM for years to come. Probably another 10 years after the DDR4 release, which has been in the works since 2011.

Hopefully this RAM will outlast the notebooks they're installed on, if not, I rest assured that GSkill won't forget me.

3 out of 5 eggsWorked for a bit.

Pros: The new ram gave a speed boost to my MacBookPro8,3 over the stock 4GB ram. Also allowed more apps to just continue running without disk swapping or slow downs.

Cons: One stick started reporting failures through AHT, and system stability was getting sporadic. Now i have to do an RMA with G.Skill, because replacing these *now* is actually TWICE the cost of when I bought them originally 2 years ago. (I thought ram prices were supposed to drop for old stuff? haha)

Other Thoughts: This is now the second set of G.Skill where one stick went bad for no reason (no overclocking either). I think I may have to stop buying G.Skill ram.

Dear Customer

We can surely assist you with this problem. The correct memory model for your Apple MacBook Pro is the G.Skill FA-10666CL9D-8GBSQ. With the latest EFI and iOS, you should have no problem at all. Since you are having issues with the existing RAM, complete the RMA procedure online, send the memory to us and we can have a new kit out to you. A new kit should work much better. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked for a while

Pros: Lifetime warranty, which I unfortunately needed to use...

Cons: - 1 out of 2 module set went bad
- Bought Spring 2012 - started giving me BSOD's first occasionally around the year mark (which was very infrequent), then frequently at the 1 3/4 year mark.
- I'm now w/o a PC for 3 weeks (even though 1 module was still good) to give G.Skill time to receive, process RMA and ship back replacement memory.

Other Thoughts: G.Skill should offer an advance replacement program like on hard drives! I would have gladly forked over a charge card to keep my PC operational.
I haven't had computer memory (laptop or desktop) give up the ghost on me over 12 years in my 35 years of building various systems...

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

We apologize for any inconvenience. At any time you experience instability, test each memory module individually to determine whether one may be bad causing problems. If one performs differently than the other, send them in for RMA exchange and a replacement will work flawlessly. It is recommended to exchange the entire kit, but you can send in the defective module only to keep your system up and running. The G.Skill RMA process is quick and hassle free, we understand how important it is for your computer to be working properly, so the typical turn around time is one week. Visit the G.Skill website for complete RMA procedure. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsNoticeable Improvement

Pros: I own a Lenovo Thinkpad E520 with the Intel I5 and simply put, 4GB of ram was not sufficient to even play Minecraft. I swapped it out for this set and noticeably saw improvements running multiple Chrome tabs and Minecraft at once.

Cons: This didn't really speed up my computer overall, but I didn't expect that. Otherwise I have not come across any cons just yet.

Other Thoughts: Windows 8 instantly saw the change in RAM and didn't require any change in settings or drivers.

5 out of 5 eggsConsistent, reliable performance more than two years and counting

Pros: Reliable performance under demanding conditions.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I've had these memory modules in my HP laptop for more than two years running demanding applications like Folding@home for days on end and I have never had an issue with them. They just work.
