Tremendous memory

For everyone with a decent AMD motherboard and not terrified of entering BIOS to adjust settings this memory delivers more ...

This memory kit is a great value and would perform quite well on INTEL machines. I also think it looks pretty neat.

5 out of 5 eggsVery happy with this RAM

Pros: Installed on my ASUS P7P55D-E Pro board and it showed up as 1333. Easy fix, went into BIOS and set to 1600. No problems booting first time. I recommend this RAM for anyone who has an ASUS board and it trying to figure out why it isn't listed on their supported memory list. I'm not sure why that it, but it seems like they have the wrong list of RAM for these boards.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Whatever you do, DO NOT select the Egg Saver shipping!!!! I didn't even bother to check the shipping method on these when I selected Free Shipping. I'd been getting all of my parts in like 2 days until these. Ordered on Tue, received the following Tue. That was horrible having to wait that long for the last part needed to boot my brand new built system! That shipping method is lame!! The thing is it took 7 days from socal to norcal...please!!

5 out of 5 eggsQuality RAM

Pros: Good RAM... with an AMD board had to manually configure RAM in BIOS but was able to get 4 sticks running at 7-8-7-18 @ 1.6V with no stability issues through several Memtest passes. Haven't tried to push it farther yet.

Cons: Not really a con but for AMD, adjusting in BIOS is a must if you don't want to miss out on performance. Probably not the best choice if you're not willing to mess with it.

5 out of 5 eggsNice RAM

Pros: Just works at advertised speed.
Looks cool too.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: i5 760 and Asus P7P55D-E Pro.

Mainboard will set it as 1333Mhz/1.5V by default. Must manually change it to 1600/1.6V in the bios.

It can be overclocked to 1800/1.65V 9-10-9-24, but getting it to 2000 is another story. I can get 2000 out of this RAM, but can't get it work stable enough. I am going to try few more tricks when I have enough time, to see if I can get stable 200Mhz out of it. My current setting is 167Mhz 7-8-7-24 at 1.6V, with CPU multiplyer of 21 = 3.5GHz, and max temp at 100% load is arround 60C with Zalman performa cooler.

3 out of 5 eggs8-8-8-24-2T/1T

Pros: It boots up. At DDR3 1600 8-8-8-24-2T, Windows Experience Index gives it 7.5

Cons: Won't reach 7-8-7-24 as advertised. Could have gotten a cheaper set at 8-8-8-24 if I wanted that speed. It was, however also stable at those timing at 1T, if that's your thing. The system won't boot at advertised speeds, it stops at bios with "Cmos checksum error" and erases every setting I changed in the bios. Boot order, cpu overclock/voltage settings, power settings, everything goes back to default.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you are having such issues. Unfortunately this is a problem with AMD chipsets as not all CPUs are capable of DDR3-1600 CL7. Tweaking CPU settings may help support it, but otherwise you will need a 6 core CPU to operate these specifications. This problem is the reason why this memory is stated for Intel. If you have any further questions or issues, please feel free to contact us directly.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome RAM

Pros: At first I wasn't too impressed but having read some information on RAM bandwidth and bus bandwidth. This RAM is indeed meant for Intel CPUs, I on the other hand have an AMD 720BE. For those chips you should (although you might get lucky and not need to) manually set your timings to 8-8-8-24-2T @ 1600. You may get down to 8-8-7 or even 8-7-7. I found my system most stable at the 8's-24. In my research the bandwidth for this RAM is about 20+GB/s my HT/Bus speed only reaches about 15+GB/s. As you can see this RAM at least on an AMD setup unless you OC the HT (hypertransport) doesn't keep up with the RAM so therefore the RAM has way more bandwidth than needed. So having said that I am noting that recently I tuned the clock speed down to 1066 and tightened up the timings to 5-5-5-15-1T. The RAM worked great at 1333 with timings set to 7-7-7-20-1T as well. Although its hard to see a difference 1T timings are better than 2T (2N on some boards).

Cons: Wish my bus speeds used up all the available bandwidth of this RAM but thats not the RAMs fault and this is by far some of the best RAM I have seen. I love Gskill RAMl, always been stable for me over various platforms.

Other Thoughts: As stated above most people should just save money and go for ram with lower Mhz but tighter latency timings. Latency in the computer world is generally more important than the raw speed. I may test tighter timings as the memory tester i'm using is saying that my efficiency is only 69% which probably means I might even get lower timings such as 4-4-4-15-1T which I think is the lowest timing my motherboard will go for DDR3.
