Tremendous memory

For everyone with a decent AMD motherboard and not terrified of entering BIOS to adjust settings this memory delivers more ...

Not designed for my system

This memory kit is a great value and would perform quite well on INTEL machines. I also think it looks pretty neat.

5 out of 5 eggsnot what i thought

Pros: bought 2 of these about 2 years ago and still works

Cons: i cant fault the memory for my own lack of research.
didnt realize this memory is made SPECIFICALLY for intel CPU's with integrated GPU and tried using it with a 1055t on MSI 890FXA-GD70. it worked but i had to adjust the timings manually and it still seemed slow.

Again no fault of the memory's, just had to make sure to pay attention next time, replaced them with 2 sets of the new Ares memory that just came out.

5 out of 5 eggsRequires C stepping for AMD CPUs

Pros: Very fast timings and very decent speed. Although now there is memory that runs at 1866 mhz, 2000 mhz and perhaps faster.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Additional note, this may or may not run reliably on AMD C2 stepping CPUs higher than 1333 mhz due to the memory controller, which is built on to the CPU, being more compatible only up to 1333 mhz. It may run fine, though, since CPUs all vary, depending on the yield and batch it was in, with some batches being slightly better than others. CPUs wiht C3 Stepping memory controllers are capable of running faster Mhz than the JEDEC standard of 1333, such as these at 1600 mhz, memory, with more reliability. But you can somewhat, and maybe completely compensate, for 1333 Mhz rating with faster timings on B stepping CPUs.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good RAM

Pros: This is VERY good ram, very few run at CAS 7 for this price. I've had mine since 2010 and have had absolutely no problem.

Cons: None that other ram have.

Other Thoughts: Unpleased, this is RAM for experts. This is not RAM for novices. Unpleased, the JEDEC standard speed for DDR3 memory is 1333 Mhz. ANYTHING above that is OVER CLOCKING the memory. All motherboards DEFAULT to the JEDEC standard of 1333. ALL motherboards require manual BIOS settings to over clock it. No motherboard is going to automatically overclock RAM. That is why this memory is for people who know what they are doing and have the EXPECTATION that this is going to take some manual settings. Buying this RAM is a GIVEN that you will have to get your hands dirty manually setting it. Just be glad there are companies like G.Skill who make RAM to be able to get the MOSTEST MAX performance by making RAM like this. By the way, I had a different ram brand before I bought this that caused blue screens. Replaced them with these and have been sailing HIGH since April 2010. AMD Phenom II, 965 BE, MSI 79FX-GD70 motherboard, with these MAMA-JAMA G.Skill Ripjaw Babies!

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate - added another set six months and still going

Pros: Price to performance is unbeatable. Running at spec.

Cons: Not really a brand problem but adding more rams do slow you down a bit. I stopped messing with the timing and the original ones seems to work best. There's may be a tiny little tweaking allowance.

4 out of 5 eggsGood RAM for the Price

Pros: The RAM was a good purchase for the price. I bought two sets for my new computer build and have really liked the performance. They were one of the cheapest low latency DDR3's that I could find.

Cons: Make sure you update your BIOS. I bought an ASUS P8P67 (REV 3.1) motherboard and had some trouble with these until I updated the BIOS to the most recent version. They would work good when I had two sticks in the board, but everything would blue screen if I put 4 in. Once I updated the BIOS everything worked great and all 4 sticks passed a 12 hr memtest clean.

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear you like the memory and you got a good deal on them. This is surely a high performance kit due to its low latency at DDR3-1600. You should be very satisfied with the results.

When having issues with any type of hardware, always check for the latest BIOS/firmware/drivers and such that can improve compatibility or performance. Especially new products, it is very common for updates to be released to solve issues. If you are having a real problem, chances are you are not the first to experience it, so a fix/update may already be available to solve it. For any further questions or issues, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsRock Solid OC Performer

Pros: Just added another 4GB set to an existing set of the same manufacturer/model, and once again works flawlessly - dropped in, used same timings/setting as before, and no issue running OC'd @ 1701.

Cons: I was trying to think of something witty to write, but as George Costanza used to say "I've got nothing!"

4 out of 5 eggswi 5.9

Pros: runs at set specs. have yet to o.c. see no need to yet, tight timings a plus

Cons: u might have to set it at rated speed but that should be no problem.
