3 out of 5 eggsGood until it died

Pros: Worked just fine (for a while). Fast. Not too hot.

Cons: Died after 3 weeks. Could have been replaced by G.Skill because of it's lifetime guarantee, but I decided I wanted a higher amount and went with something else.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

We apologize for the inconvenience. It is strange the memory became defective so quickly. At any convenient time, send it in for RMA exchange and a replacement will work flawlessly. This is one of our most popular kits as it is plug and play performance. The high capacity will allow you to operate any program free of lag and delays. It is also low voltage, so along with the heat spreader, high temperature is certainly not a problem. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us directly.

3 out of 5 eggsGood at first....

Pros: Worked well while it worked.

Cons: Had two sticks die on me after about a month and a half. Was not heavily used in that time.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Please send the memory in for RMA and a replacement should work better. All G.Skill memory kits are backed by a lifetime warranty. Whether the memory is defective after a couple days, weeks, or years of use, we can have it replaced without question. Rarely does two modules go bad, so hopefully this is an isolated case. For any further questions or issues, please feel free to contact us directly and we will be glad to assist you.

5 out of 5 eggsOver a year with 7-7-7-20 *update*

Pros: These things take my OC like a champ. Got them to 7-7-7-20 with my ole school q8400 @ 3.2 ghz from 2.66.

Cons: Never had a problem with them. Maybe watching the price drop to half of what I got them for?

Other Thoughts: The settings have been set for the life of the ram, I did pair them up with an intel dp45sg which is suppose to be a bad board but I never had a problem with it. The oc was fine too. WEI is 7.4 with my set up.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat RAM, but...

Pros: The RAM works great, installs and works great with the BioStar TP67XE. It's fast, runs really cool, and was a major performance upgrade for me (old DDR2 RAM).

Cons: With the RAM itself, none so far. It feels like really good RAM, good price in my opinion, and worth the buy. There are some issues, though. See: Other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: The shipping on this stuff sucked. I ordered this RAM the 23rd and just got it last night (the 28th). It was supposed to be three day select, it actually was shipped and left the warehouse on the 23rd (same day), so it should have gotten here Saturday if it was really three day shipping. This is partially NewEgg's fault because I ordered all the parts for my new build at the same time, all paid for at the same time, and the RAM had to be shipped from TN where the rest came from CA. This delayed the build and was rather inconvenient with my work load and limited time. But I also lay the bulk of the blame on UPS for having subpar (to put nicely) delivery service. It would be nice if NewEgg could tell you WHERE your parts are coming from BEFORE you give them your money...also, spend extra $$ on the better/faster shipping if you actually want your stuff in a timely manner.

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear you like the memory and it is working well in your Sandybridge platform. Although this is an entry-level DDR3 performance kit, it will still be a major improvement over DDR2 especially with the new CPU and chipset. With regards to shipping, we are sorry to hear shipping took longer than estimated. Please contact NewEgg directly to express your concerns so they can get the proper feedback to improve. Should you have any further questions or issues, please feel free to contact us directly.

1 out of 5 eggsNo Play Nice!!!

Pros: Price
Looks Good(?)
Easy RMA w/Newegg

Cons: Poor quality control - I ordered this kit. Figured it would be a simple, quick and cheap bump from 4GB to 8GB. Not so.........Installation on a MSI P55M-SD40 Mobo (OEM version of P55M-GD45). Flashed BIOS to latest update. All memory settings in Auto Detect. Booted into windows and as soon as I refreshed the WUE I got BSOD. Rebooted into BIOS, checked settings and all was good. Then the system would only boot to the Windows Loading screen and then hang. Then would just POST and go no further. Tried booting one stick at a time in DIMM slot 1, and found one stick that was bad. RMA'd that kit for another..............(See other thoughts)

Other Thoughts: ........This time ran Memtest86+ on each stick separately before installing the whole kit and got loads of errors on another one of the sticks. RMA'd for refund this time and bought this:

CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9

Installed the Corsair kit and I couldn't be happier. Simple plug-n-play like I was looking for to begin with. All timings are correct and got a 7.9 rating in WUE, and running absolutely stable......."Dance with what brung ya"

I really wanted to like GSkill, but for memory that is supposedly "100% tested to ensure top-level product yield and quality", 2 bad kits in a row leaves them highly suspect in my mind.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We are sorry to hear you received a bad module. In the future, feel free to RMA to G.Skill. Any kit directly from us should not have issues. Two bad kits is extremely unlikely. All G.Skill memory kits are backed by a lifetime guarantee for these types of situations. For any reason your memory is dead on arrival or becomes defective after a couple days, weeks, or years of use, we will exchange it with a new replacement without question. If you have any further questions or issues, please feel free to contact us directly and we will be glad to assist you.
