5 out of 5 eggsFantastic RAM

Pros: I double my RAM from 4 GB to 8 GB's on my Dell laptop running Windows 8 Pro 64 bit.
Wow what a difference, runs so fast, stays cool.
I love it.

Cons: I don't have room for two more, this is great RAM

5 out of 5 eggsG-Skill works, like usual :)

Pros: I've been using G-Skill for the past 7 years on all of my rigs, and they have yet to let me down, never a dead stick. Runs cool (not that it matters for my X220) and no boot issues. I would recommend these modules.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: Glad that they got rid of the useless memory heat sinks, the last stick of DDR2 that I bought for my EEEPC definitely didn't need it... and probably would have been a smidgen cheaper with out as well.

5 out of 5 eggsMore of a difference than expected for Alienware M17X - R2

Pros: Upgraded from stock 4GB to this pair in an Alienware M17X - R2.
I7-620, Samsung 840 SSD, ATI 5870M
I was very surprised how much of a difference this made. Installation took less than 2 minutes. Bios recognized sticks with no issues. I was not expecting to see a large difference, but wanted to give it a try since I was seeing framerate issues in Starcraft 2 Heart of the Swarm in both gameplay and movies. A couple posts I found listed memory as a bottleneck, which I didn't believe but was willing to try for as cheap as these are. This ended up being the bottleneck in my system, with no more issues being experienced, and I verified SC2 didn't patch. Also tried Ghost Recon and Crysis 2 and noticed similar results.

Cons: As an indirect result, my GPU appears to be the bottleneck now so is running hotter. I don't fault the memory for this. My fans are kicking on sooner and HW Info 32 saw much larger spikes in graphics card temps when playing games.

Other Thoughts: Spend the extra few dollars on this to get the more aggressive timings. 9-9-9-24 made a huge difference over stock timings in my M17X.

5 out of 5 eggsNo complaints

Pros: Works as expected

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I got this to upgrade a Lenovo ThinkPad SL510 with 2 GB of PC3-8500. This memory was a big improvement.

Pros: Timings: stock 10-10-10-28 vs what hese are 9-9-9
Price
NewEgg Services

Cons: No heat speader

Other Thoughts: Installed on an Alienware M17x laptop with no issues.
Memory was recognized right away and improved boot time by a few seconds.
Product came in earlier than estimated.
The M17x was the version before Dell bought out Alieware (for people who are concerned with this info).

3 out of 5 eggsWorks, but not sure if in dual channel

Pros: Multitasking improved, windows sees all 8 gigs with no issues and windows index for ram goes up.

Cons: Cpu-z and other similar programs dont see the ram running in dual channel. They dont even state if they are running in single channel either. So i am not even sure if the sticks are running as intended in a dual channel mode. Other than that the ram works fine.

Other Thoughts: I have the gateway nv55s36u with the a6 3420m apu. Due to how the graphics on the laptop works getting 8 gigs of dual channel memory at 1333 gives a great amount of performance to games. With this ram i have not seen any performance increase in any of my games. Hope someone from gskill support reply's to this comment.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Glad to hear the memory is working well in your system. With 8GB installed, the laptop will be great for multi-tasking and memory intensive activities. Adding memory capacity alone does not make a system faster, unless it was previously lacking available physical RAM, which is why you may not have noticed a signifcant improvement in gaming. If two modules are installed in corresponding slots for a dual channel motherboard, the memory will run as dual channel. You can use a memory benchmark test to verify this if CPU-Z is not showing it. 3 out of 5 eggsNo menufacture date

Pros: Good performance

Cons: This is my second purchase of G. SKILL memory. I saw someone complaned about ordered G. SKILL but received Nanya chip. Well you should feel lucky if you get Nanya. It's a tad better than G. SKILL. My Wndows performance shows 7.1 for G. SKILL yet 7.3 for Nanya. I don't see manufacture date, nor serial number in G.SKILL chip.

Other Thoughts: I paid 22 bucks for the G.SKILL chip 9 months ago. Now Newegg asks for 29.5. Should've bought more Nanya then.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Glad to hear the memory is performing well in your system. With regards to actual IC chips, it can vary from batch to batch. The RAM itself is produced by G.Skill, but other brand chips can be tested and used for G.Skill brand. Rest assured quality control standards are still top in industry, so the memory will be fast and reliable as with any G.Skill branded memory. The price increase/difference is attributed to the recent jump in global market pricing. G.Skill does not control pricing, in fact, we prefer the lowest price possible so we can share great RAM with G.Skill users. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Replaced 4 gigabytes of elpidia ram in my lenovo ideapad y560. Computer was running a little slow when I would play a game and multitask. Installed this and it runs great.

Cons: Couldn't get it free.

Other Thoughts: GSkill is my go to company for ram outside mushkin.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Worked w/o issue on an HP dv7 Pavilion.

Cons: I broke some of the stupid plastic clips holding the back panel on the dv7. The newer models have few or no screws holding them together, so take your time. Guitar picks work great for this type of stuff. And if for some reason you have to pull it off more than once (like me) be prepared, b/c 2 times is 1 time too many.

Other Thoughts: I was a bit torn between 2 products for a recent repair on a HP dv7, but this one won out. I've had to use GSkill tech support in the past and know them to be competent and prompt; that's what I want. I've noticed the price has been edging up, but you get what you pay for.
