5 out of 5 eggsG.Skill Fan

Pros: Installed on a ASRock B75 Pro3-M w/i5-3350P. Enabled the XMP Profile in the UEFI and presto! SPD presets to relaxed CAS9. No Hiccups.

Cons: If I had to RMA, I'd be writing a Con but nothing to report.

Other Thoughts: Purchased various G.Skill RAM sets and my last prior purchase that was close to this amount was a 8GB (4x 2GB) of these Ripjaw series on a i7-860 setup.

Made for following system.
OS: Win7 x64 Home
Case: APEVIA X-DREAMER4 Pink
HSF: COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO RR-212E-20PK-R2
CPU: i5-3350P
Mobo: ASRock B75 PRO3-M LGA 1155 Intel B75
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 2x 4GB DDR3 1333 CAS7
Video: ASUS GTX650TI-OC-2GB DDR5
DVD: ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS Black SATA 24X
HD: 1TB Samsung SATA
PSU: CORSAIR Builder Series CX430 430W

4 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: Looks cool with the heat spreaders. And it came with a STICKER!!!

Cons: Wasn't much of an upgrade, sure it had a lower latency, but my system didn't really speed up much. WEI rating stayed same as before. Going from 8Gb of Kingston ValuRAM (4x2Gb).

Other Thoughts: So I took some of my old 1333 memory and now I'm up to 12 GB....pretty good.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear you think the memory looks cool. The low latency RAM doesn't necessarily make the computer a lot faster, it allows the memory and CPU to communicate in a quicker manner. To utilize the full performance of the RAM, keep in mind you must manually configure settings in BIOS/EFI, or enable the XMP enhanced performance profile. A common misconception is that the performance specs will be automatically detected, but that is not true. So unless you input the settings for the memory to run at the rated specifications, the memory can be just like any other RAM, which may be why you did not notice much of a difference. This is a great memory kit, so you should be very pleased with the result. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

Thank you

1 out of 5 eggsReceived two different models

Pros: Memory works in dual channel even though I received ram with two different bandwidths, timings and model numbers.

Cons: Would not work with my current ram which is why i bought it.

Other Thoughts: I use CPU-Z to test all the memory i buy. I bought this to upgrade my system which had Gskill 4GB dual channel kit 2 x F3-10666CL7D-2GBRH 667mhz 7-7-7-21. (asus p7h55m-d evo core i5 661 clarkdale) It should work fine, right? seeing as how its the same model and specs and everything just different sizes... Well it didn't. With all 12 GB installed the system lags horribly, takes forever to post and get to DT and CPU usage goes up to the ceiling causing instability and lag. It does still boot though (sometimes) so i guess that's something.... CPU-Z showed all the ram at CL9 and around 670mhz.. odd...

After that I tried just the new ram 8GB alone and it works fine only its at ~690mhz and 9-9-9-24-180-2T (not the 667mhz 7-7-7-21 advertised) and upon further inspection i realized that I the model and specs of one of the 4GB sticks was correct:

PC3-10700 (667mhz) 7-7-7-20 Gskill F3-10666CL7-4GBRH

While the other stick was:

PC3-12800 (800mhz) 9-9-9-24 Gskill F3-12800CL9-4GBXL

which is why i get the slower timings and the slightly elevated DRAM freq and I suspect is why i cannot use this with my existing ram. OH WELL. I got faster ram for the price of slower ram BUT at the expense of not being able to use my other 4GB which i wanted to do. Still not sure how it works in dual channel though because i thought the ram had to be the same for that.

The worst part is that I'm not sure if I'll be able to RMA this item. Have to crack the case open yet again to see if they are even labeled correctly. I'm hoping the labels show the difference because i'm not sure newegg is going to just take my word that this is wrong or even know what CPU-Z is. Sigh....

Dear Customer

We can surely help you with this. Memory can operate in dual channel as long as two or more modules can communicate properly. This is why it is imperative to have perfectly matching memory out of a single kit. Each memory kit is pre-matched, tested, and guaranteed from factory to be able to communicate smoothly in multi-channel motherboards. When mixing two seperate kits, it is fine to attempt multiple settings for both kits to be stable, but keep in mind there are instances the two kits will not work at all in a single system. In your particular case, it is strange one module is showing a different value. Feel free to send the memory in for RMA exchange and a replacement kit should be consistent.

To determine whether the new kit is causing a problem, test it at the rated specifications. DDR3-1333 CL7 is above standard, so it is necessary to manually input DRAM settings or enable the enhanced performance profile (XMP) for the system to recognize the performance values of the RAM. The memory should be stable with one, or both modules installed and set to DDR3-1333 7-7-7-21 1.50V. If you encounter stability issues, please feel free to contact the G.Skill support team. They are readily available to assist you, and make sure your computer is running fast and smooth with G.Skill RAM.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Stuff.

Pros: Bought one of these kits for an i7 3770k+Asus Z77 build. Timings and frequency were great for the price. The rig posted like a champ, BIOS detected all the latency and frequency settings, memtest passed without a hiccup. It's been running games and applications smooth and stable now for a week and shows no sign of stopping.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: It's not the fastest memory by any means but for a semi-budget gaming build, this memory is certainly one of the best performance kits in the price bracket.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat memory

Pros: Fast. Easy. Inexpensive. No problems in BIOS or windows.
Good for OC.

Cons: I couldn't afford more.

Other Thoughts: It actually posted at 15% faster speeds on initial installation using default settings. A BIOS update "corrected" this and it posts as rated. (The system seems to run more smoothly now, but that probably doesn't have anything to do with the RAM.)

5 out of 5 eggsFast!

Pros: Fast ram, 8GB is all you really need for medium computer use.

Cons: None, not 1600MHz?

Other Thoughts: I bought this specific ram because Asus said it would function in dual channel, which it does not, but that's not the ram's fault. It works perfect otherwise, and is great.
