5 out of 5 eggsGood Stuff

Pros: Got this RAM in 2011, and it's been in three systems so far. Had to RMA the first set due to a bad stick, but had a quick replacement in a matter of days. Currently running it at 1866 on an Asrock Z87 mobo with a i7 4770K. Still does the job just fine.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Cheap, at least in 2011, picked it up for under a bill.

5 out of 5 eggsGame saver

Pros: Works great.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: My core i7 came with 12 Gb of ram and a GTX 660 video card. Games started to lag and actually crash the machine.
Read that ram might be the problem so I got 16Gb (4x4) and the machine works great.
The quality of the Ripjaws X far surpassed the generic ram that came with the machine

5 out of 5 eggsRunning 32 GB for 2 years, works great.

Pros: Loaded 8 sticks of this into my LGA 2011 asus mobo almost 28 months ago. Has worked great the entire time.

RamCache with this lets programs run 10-15 times faster than writing to SSD. Very solid memory.

Cons: The price of this exact memory purchase is almost exactly double what it was 2 years ago. Not a con for the memory but it is a drawback for building high memory systems.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat memory

Pros: Bought these 3 years ago when the price was on sale for about $109. I heard about potential issues with the memory and CPU cooler (Cooler Master 212) not fitting, but they both fit just fine.

Cons: Couldn't find one in blue when I looked 3 years ago. It's the only red thing in my very interiorly blue PC.

4 out of 5 eggsGlad I got them when I did.

Pros: These memory sticks are very stable and reliable on my Asus Z58 Gen 3 motherboard. They support XMP profiling for better automatic overclocking, have good heat sinks on them and are quad channel for possible future upgrading.

Cons: Being a CAS 9 timing isn't that great for overclocking and they tend to crash with software overclocking. These are best overclocked doing manual overclocking. The current price is the biggest con in my opinion. I got these about a year and a half ago and at the time they cost almost half the price of what they do now. It seems like computer memory is a lot like the stock market, one day they're inexpensive and the next day they double in price.

Other Thoughts: I'd highly recommend these memory modules for stable performance and future proof upgrading, but if you can find a higher amount of memory that better and faster for a cheaper price then by all means do it. I only gave these 4 stars because the price to performance ratio now isn't that great now, but if they still were at there old price I'd give them 5 stars.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory is working very well in your ASUS motherboard. This memory kit can definitely be overclocked and achieve outstanding results. The low voltage can be increased along with timings to reach a higher speed. It is never advised to use software overclocking; overclocking should be done manually by an individual that understands how to overclock in general, and the type of hardware being used. With regards to price, unfortunately, that is not something we control. Price can fluctuate based on global supply and demand, so when you see good RAM at a good price, make sure to get it as soon as possible. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

Thank you
