4 out of 5 eggsWorks decent

Pros: -Fast
-Works and has been for 2+ years

Cons: -Doesn't work at rated speeds

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory has been working fast in your system for over 2 years. This is one of the best memory kits as DDR3-1600 CL6 is very rare. The RAM is much above standard, so keep in mind manual setting or enabling of the XMP Profile is required. The motherboard can not automatically recognize the performance values. In addition, not all CPUs and motherboards can support the low timing, so make sure to use qualified hardware. Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly. If you are unable to reach the rated specifications of the RAM, contact the G.Skill support team with hardware details and they will be more than glad to assist you.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsworks for EVGA 790i Ultra SLI board

Pros: immediate recognition after plug in. ran at 6-8-6-24 1T, 1.5v with rated speed. Also had bios up to date. Friend who knows quite a bit more than me says that timings with intel cpu is not so critical as opposed to amd cpu and boards.

Cons: none so far.

Other Thoughts: am only using two sticks for a total of 4 gb.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Running them @ 2133MHz , 7-10-7-27-34-88-1T @ 1.65v

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: G.Skill's seem to be always underrated , have some older 4GB CL7 1600MHz Ripjaws that'll do 1866MHz 8-9-8-24-34-74-1T @ 1.65v.

1 out of 5 eggsNot able to run at advertised speed

Pros: None

Cons: This RAM is rated 6-8-6-24 but I cannot get it to run any faster than 8-8-8-26 with two kits installed for a total of 8GB.

I'm using it with an i7 2600K and an Asus P8Z68-pro/gen3. I've tried using the XMP profile and manual settings. Neither worked to get anywhere close to advertised speeds. I updated my BIOS to latest version and tried everything again, but it didn't seem to have any effect. I've gone as high as 1.65v but stability seems no different than when at 1.5v. I'm certain overheating is not the issue as well.

I went with all the hype and other reviews when I bought this RAM, and I guess that's all it was, hype. I should have just stayed with Mushkin which has never failed me.

Other Thoughts: I will never buy a GSkill product again.

My specs:
Intel i7 2600K
Asus P8Z68-Pro/Gen3
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (4 x 2MB) 1600 @ 8-8-8-26-2T
XFX Radeon HD 7970 Black Edition
OCZ Vertex 3 120GB SSD (OS & Programs)
OCZ Agility 3 240GB SSD (Games)
Western Digital Caviar Black 1.5TB (Media)
Creative Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Omega Headset
Acer 27" LED Backlit LCD

Dear Customer

This is a 4GB kit, so the rated 6-8-6-24 timings are only guaranteed for a single kit in a single computer. It is not implied that two of these kits can combine for 8GB at the rated specifications. If you need 8GB to operate at the rated specifications, you need to purchase an 8GB kit. For any further questions or issues, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsSocket 1366

Pros: XMP settings work great for socket 1366. 1.5v @ 6-8-6-24 2T. Also works great at 1T.

Cons: Can't count this against the RAM, but hard to overclock on my i7-960. Doesn't like frequencies above 1800MHz, and bumps itself up to 1.7v+ on auto. Makes sense because this RAM is made for socket 1155, where OCing can be done via multiplier, rather then frequency. I would guess that if you have a i7-980 or better this would be some great OCers.

Other Thoughts: The amount of channels this ram is good for depends on your MoBo, not the RAM itself. The ram is rated for dual channel because the sticks are tested with each other in pairs.

5 out of 5 eggsToo fast

Pros: Fast Memory. Divide the wait state by the speed, and you will find this is it.

Cons: Too fast. On my P8Z68-V Pro Gen 3, it functioned fine, except when it came to wake on LAN. Memory error there. I figure that was it after changing all video components, setting switches, etc etc.

Other Thoughts: I would get this again if not for this requirement.

5 out of 5 eggsddr3 2133!

Pros: 6-8-6-24 1T DDR3 1600 @ 1.5v
7-9-7-24 1T DDR3 1866 @ 1.5v
9-10-9-28 1T DDR3 2133 @ 1.5v
7-10-8-27 1T DDR3 2133 @ 1.6v

linx/Prime95 x64 stable!

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: This ram and the Samsung 30nm DDR3 1600 1.35v 2x4gb ram are by far the best budget overclockers!

1 out of 5 eggsBUY AT OWN RISK

Pros: Looks cool

Cons: Will not run at advertised speed w/o crashing. I have worked extensively with GSkill & Asus trying to get these to work at rated speeds to no avail. Finally Gskill tells me to RMA them, the tech and I discuss different memory set options and I decide to upgrade to a better set and pay the upgrade fee. So, then I do all the paperwork; send it in to rma department with some questions. I get an RMA number and NO answers to my questions. So now I am extremely irritated; how hard is it to answer two questions that are INCLUDED with the form you took time to read? I would love to have these guys' jobs & get paid to not help the customer. G.Skill RMA customer service is worthless & I never did get my questions answered.

Other Thoughts: If I could have given this a negative star rating I would have!!! First & Last time I ever buy G.Skill product!!! If you need to RMA......good luck! Going back to Corsair.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you are having issues operating the memory at the rated specifications. This kit is designed for the second generation Intel Sandybridge CPUs/platform, so if that is what you have, enable the XMP Profile and your system should be ready to go. If you do not have this platform, manual settings are required and it may be difficult to reach the rated specifications. For technical questions, please contact the technical support team directly. They will be able to answer any questions you may have. The RMA email is strictly for processing RMA requests. For any further questions or issues, please feel free to contact us directly.
