3 out of 5 eggsMemory Died @ 3 years

Pros: Worked fine, no issues with build & BIOS setup using preset profiles. for operation @ 2133 MHz.. Cost competitive for my system rebuild. Nice looking.

Cons: Unfortunately, this memory failed Feb 2014 (3 years later). Replaced with NewEgg N82E16820231563 G Skill comparable set which is now 50% of price of previous. Also very nice looking Blue this time & reused pprior memory cooler w/Blue LED. Need to contact GSkill to return MEM (gave write errors in MemTest & Windows-> corrupted my OS on HDD).

Other Thoughts: First time I've experienced a memory failure. Have always used Corsair before. I'll give them another chance.

4 out of 5 eggsAMAZING! (when you can get them)

Pros: AMAZING! Super fast, stays cool with the fans, just absolutely unbelievable performance.

Cons: Took some time configuring with my motherboard to keep them stable. (probably something to do with the mobo)
ALWAYS OUT OF STOCK

Other Thoughts: The memory was insane! really great! I had planned to buy another set for a build I was doing for a friend but.... They were NEVER in stock. I checked every single day. (more then 4 times daily in fact) I never had the opportunity to purchase this RAM from Newegg for my friend. Please G.Skill stock Newegg with more of these so I can buy them for the next 5 build's I have waiting on my list!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory is working well in your system. Unfortunately as with any high performance, high capacity kit, they can be very limited in production. We would love to produce as much as demand, but sometimes supply can't be met. As a result, when you see good memory, you will want to purchase it immediately. It can become out of stock right before your eyes. For any questions or issues, please feel free to contact us directly.

3 out of 5 eggsStock?

Pros: Awesome memory! Great Fans! Super Impressed!

Cons: It went out of stock and never came back into stock.
I had to buy this RAM from another site unfortunately.
Very upset that I couldn't buy this RAM form Newegg.
-2 Eggs for never being in stock.

Other Thoughts: I was going to refer to buddy to this exact RAM but considering it's been out of stock somewhere close to a month now, i tihnk I'll redirect him somewhere else...

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear the memory has been out of stock. Unfortunately high performance kits, especially of high capacity, are very limited. So when you see them in stock, you should purchase them immediately. Once they run out, we may not have them for weeks or months, depending on supply. We do stock NewEgg on a daily basis, so please check daily for status. For any questions or issues, contact us directly for assistance.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid performance, but a lot of work to get it

Pros: Dependable brand with powerhouse performance, 16gigs at 2133mhz! Cant ask for more, this memory is HOT (in every semblance of the word.)

Tortures and benches show these sticks (WHEN PROPERLY CONFIGURED) to pack a punch. Noticeable differences in Pro Tools (I run multiple VI's) and Photoshop performance.

Cons: Configuration. When I first installed these modules and turned on the user profile I had no problems booting to Windows and confirming the speeds for these modules. I thought at this point, "Wow! That was easy!" But, as any home builder should know and do, I had to confirm stability. Prime95 blend testing confirmed that in fact, there was nothing easy about these sticks.

I know G.Skill likes to think you can just enable them XMB Profile and everything is perfect but its just not true. Sorry G.Skill.

This RAM requires work on your end, thats just how it has to be (and the reason for a 1 star decrease). So boot to bios, adjust the voltages and run your tests; its going to be a long night.

Other Thoughts: Im a bit on the fence with these modules. On the one had, the performance is fantastic... however, on the other hand, these modules require quite a bit of work to get configured properly. If I had to choose one side or the other however, Id say I approve.

Now that comes with stipulations. See, if you are a bit tech savvy and unafraid to get in there and make adjustments to DRAM voltages and VCCIO (and obviously also have the time to test them!) then you can get these modules running at advertised specs within a reasonable amount of time.

But if you are only looking for a 16g setup that will work out of the box I really would have to recommend looking elsewhere.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. We are sorry to hear some tweaks were required for full stability. For the easiest configuration, we recommend using one of the motherboards we have listed for compatibility. The motherboards we list have been tested and approved with our memory, so setting up BIOS will be hassle free. With some other motherboards, although they are the same chipset, it may not over volt enough or something of that nature to cause instability. The limitation lies within the motherboard or CPU to support this memory. As you know, this memory is proven pack a punch, you just need to make sure your other hardware can support it. For any questions or issues, please feel free to contact us directly.

3 out of 5 eggsNot recognized properly by motherboard

Pros: Looks nice.
Comes with fan.

Cons: Computer recognizes the memory as 1600MHZ.
Not sure if it is MSI BIOS problem or these memories.

System highly unstable even at 1600MHZ.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you are having issues configuring the memory. All DDR3 motherboards can only default up to DDR3-1333 or DDR3-1600 CL9. Any memory above this must be manually configured in UEFI/BIOS, or the XMP Profile must be enabled. With the latest MSI BIOS, please enable XMP and try again. If the system is unstable, test one module at a time to see if one may be bad causing issues. Should the problem continue, please feel free to contact us directly and we will be glad to help make your system stable.

2 out of 5 eggsUnstable

Pros: 7.9 WEI rating?

Cons: Constant BSOD that I originally thought to be an issue with my OCZ Vertex 3 Max IOPs SSD. I tried turning off my OC, older HDDs, a different SATA II SSD (Patriot) and still had the same issue. I eventually put my old DDR3-1600 back in and I'm stable again.

I'm returning this product to NewEgg for a full refund.

4 out of 5 eggsGood product

Pros: Runs higher than i expected with X.M.P Profile 1 Enabled. With just the profile 1 it runs at 2142 no FSB or Voltage changes

Cons: The fans are huge had to buy zalman fans for lower profile.

Other Thoughts: The fans are only a problem if you are not running the stock cpu cooler

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory is working well in your system. With a Sandybridge platform, this memory can work extremely well with just the XMP Profile enabled. We specifically designed this memory with the Intel platform, so it will have the best performance and stability compared to other memory kits. With regards to the memory cooler, we will try to improve future models with a lower profile. If you have any questions or issues, please feel free to contact us directly.

1 out of 5 eggsGot a bad batch

Pros: Good price for the specs. Good effective heat spreader designs. 4 Gigabytes per stick.

Cons: I got a batch that will not run at 2133 speeds or XMP memory profile one on my Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD7-B3 Motherboard with stock i7-2600k processor. I tested each stick individually with windows 7 memory diagnostics but that was pointless because windows was already failing to boot and locking up with all kinds of scary looking screens of death. It runs and passes the memory diagnotsics at 1866 speeds and XMP profile 1 timings and voltage. I updated the bios to the newest version F3 and still it will not run at 2133. I messed with various voltages and could not it to work but from reading various gskill forum posts they say you should not have to touch any voltages. Just setting it to XMP profile 1 is suposed to be it and other users of my motherboard have confirmed this fact. So all logic points to a bad batch of ram and dissapointment for me.

Other Thoughts: I am in a bad spot with this because to RMA I have to send in all the sticks and they have to be received before they will ship me new ones. This is after they take time to process and test the sticks. So I either have no computer for several weeks or I put back in my old motherboard and DDR2 which means my raid array is destroyed and I have to do another system reinstall which I just got done doing followed by one last system reinstall after the ram has finaly returned to me. I am sorry but I am not going through all of that and then taking the chance of a second bad batch. Corsair Dominator GT cas 8 DDR3 2000 will be taking the spot. It is only 2 gigabyte per stick so 8 gigs of ram vs 16. However 16 is overkill anyway and the Gts have tighter timing with cas 8. Good luck with your ram choice!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear the memory did not work properly. Please send it in for RMA and the new kit should work better. All G.Skill memory packages are backed by a lifetime guarantee for these types of situations. If for whatever reason your memory does not operate to specifications, or becomes defective after a couple days, weeks, or years of use, we can exchange them for new replacements without question. If you have any further questions or issues, please feel free to contact us directly and we will be glad to assist you.

5 out of 5 eggsStable & Fast

Pros: Inserted all 4 modules into my ASUS P8P67 Deluxe ( BIOS Version 1503) and selected XMP Profile #1 and OCd to 4.4GHz (initially), made minor adjustments to DIGI+ VRM and absolutely no problems (been about 2 weeks now). Have run Prime95 and AIDA64 with no crashes. WEI 7.9

Cons: The fan blocks the USB 3.0 connector. However, my large CPU cooler is part of the problem.

Other Thoughts: Fan looks great and is quieter than expected. Very happy with the purchase.
