5 out of 5 eggsGreat sticks

Pros: My first time using this brand of ram, and so far it does what it says and meets the rated speeds. I originally had this paired with a Phenom II x4 975, but that cpu would only allow max ram speeds of 1333. I upgraded my cpu to an FX-6300 6 core, and its ram speeds are allowing up to 2300mhz, so getting this run at the 1866 rating was as simple at setting it in the bio, has been running like a dream ever since.

Cons: none yet

1 out of 5 eggsNever buy this!

Pros: Fast when it works...

Cons: Right out the box they were DOA, took a long time before new ones was sent.
After that, the new ones worked 1 month and they died again.
Buy kingston instead, have them for 2 years now and never got any problems.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you had such issues. It is near impossible for both modules to be completely dead being brand new out of the package. Each G.Skill memory kit is matched, tested, and guaranteed from factory at the rated specifications. The specifications of this RAM are also above standard, so make sure to use a compatible motherboard and capable CPU. It is necessary to manually input settings in BIOS/EFI or enable the XMP/DOCP Profile for optimal performance. Without doing so, the system may not be fully stable. Should you need help with set up or have any questions, please feel free to contact us directly.

Thank you

4 out of 5 eggs1 bad stick

Pros: Good price/performace/capacity ratio.
looks sexy in my case window

Cons: 1 stick arrived bad but it was hard to identify. Computer would occasionally crash like once a week but i thought it was because of how i use it more than any hardware installed. When i updated to Windows 10 this all changed (my assumption is because windows 10 has more sophisticated memory management) I was getting constant crashes and the dump files pointed to a memory error.
Ran the windows memory test on one stick at a time and found the one that was bad.
G.Skill granted an RMA quickly, but between shipping costs and time its just easier to buy a single 4 gb stick of the same line to replace it.

Other Thoughts: ONly docking 1 egg for the bad stick. It happens sometimes and they were quick to grant an RMA, its just easier to buy a new one and not wait and pay for shipping.

Hi Nathan

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the RAM looks good in your build. The RipJaws X series RAM is surely a stand out in any system, and complements many motherboards. When experiencing strange problems, an initial move is to test each memory module individually to make sure they are error free. Especially with two memory modules, it is easy to determine whether one is bad and performing differently than the other. With a defective module, send it in for RMA exchange and a replacement should work flawlessly. The G.Skill RMA process is quick and hassle free, shipping should cost around $5 via USPS First Class w/ Tracking, so it is cost effective and easy turn around. Once you receive the new RAM, make sure to configure settings in BIOS/EFI, then the system should be fast and stable. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

Thank you

- Isn't blue

Other Thoughts: I think I have used G skill in every build I have made, and this is another product that shows why

4 out of 5 eggsGood looking RAM

Pros: fast memory, works great

Cons: shows it runs at 1866 but only runs at 1600 in my system. had to overclock to get my system to run at 1866.

Other Thoughts: At the price point when i bought these sticks i can't complain really

Manufacturer Response:

.
Hi James

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear you like the appearance of the RAM and it is working great in your computer. The RipJaws X series is one of the most popular on NewEgg ever. The high performance, high quality memory at a low price is unmatched. DDR3-1866 is above standard, so it is not a plug and play memory kit. It is necessary to manually input settings or enable XMP/DOCP for the system to perform as it should. For some CPUs that do not natively support DDR3-1866, additional tweaks and overclocking can be necessary. But once BIOS/EFI is configured correctly, you can expect maximum performance. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: - Reliable, fast, and easy to configure

Cons: - None

Other Thoughts: I've had 8 gig of this series RAM in my computer since January of last year and just added 8 more last week.
Configures easily using DOCP.
For 16 gig configurations (2 sets) you'll need to increase voltage by a small amount.
