3 out of 5 eggsDidn't match my older pair

Pros: Worked by themselves, not defective. Matched the motherboard vendor approved memory list.

Cons: Tried to add another pair of sticks to a existing pair on Asus M5A97. The product identification matched exactly. Could not get the BIOS to successfully register and use both pair. Could use either pair alone but not both together. Was unwilling to drop timing below nominal.

Other Thoughts: This is said to be very hit or miss. Next time will use a larger pair in the first place.

Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you had such issues. Unfortunately, with multiple memory kits the rated specifications are no longer guaranteed. Although the model is identical, the actual components may not be. Each memory kit is perfectly matched, tested, and guaranteed from factory to work in a single system. For optimal performance, it is imperative to only use a single kit of RAM in each computer. With a 16GB kit, the RAM should run flawlessly. With the AMD platform, it can be a little tricky to set up ultra low voltage DDR3-1600. If you would like help with this, please let us know and we will be glad to help.

4 out of 5 eggsBuy the size you want in 4 years

Pros: Reliable, can be overclocked a bit but that's not my thing.

Cons: Not a con but typical - couldn't find another pair to bring my system up from 8G to 16G using four sticks - tried two sets of seemingly identical sticks but no go.

Other Thoughts: Buy for what you'll want in a few years - or else be prepared to toss the first pair out and use a larger pair.

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory is reliable and working well in your system. To upgrade to 16GB, it is best to replace the RAM with a 16GB kit. The original 8GB can be used in another system, or it can be sold with relative ease as the G.Skill Sniper series is very popular and in demand RAM. The model of the RAM kit represent what the RAM is capable of, it does not imply that it is compatible with another of the same model. RAM is a special piece of hardware in that not every one will be the same. It is not a mass production item that is stamped and copied by machines so each item is exactly same. In fact, all G.Skill memory kits are hand picked and tested to ensure the utmost quality assurance. Expect the higherst quality at the lowest price. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

2 out of 5 eggsNot compatible, haven't received RMA #

Pros: It works, after I tweak the voltage settings in the BIOS.

Cons: Although it was listed as compatible, this low-voltage kit is not compatible with my motherboard (ASRock Z75 Pro3 LGA 1155). This same problem has happened to others.

To prevent blue screens and lock-ups, I have to increase the memory's voltage in the BIOS.

Other Thoughts: March 23, 2014 - I contacted G.Skill about returning the memory.
March 24 - G.Skill e-mailed, "Attached please find the RMA Form. Please fill out the information and email back to us. Once the completed form has been received, the RMA# will be emailed to you within 24 hours. If you do not receive any response in 24 hours, please feel free to contact us."
Mar 29 - I e-mailed the completed RMA. I also asked if G.Skill would cross ship since the kit I was replacing was more expensive than the replacement I would receive.
Mar 30 - G.Skill e-mailed, "Unfortunately, we do not offer a cross shipping option. I apologize for the inconvenience."
Apr 8 - I e-mailed G.Skill "I sent my completed RMA form on March 29th, but I have still not received an RMA # :( Could I please get an RMA #?"

As of April 12, I have not received an RMA # from G.Skill. Pretty disappointed in the customer service. I have given up on G.Skill's e-mail support for now, so I thought I'd see if they would contact me via Newegg.

Dear Customer

Glad to hear the memory works in your system with a voltage boost. This is perfectly fine and will not damage the RAM or any other hardware. With regards to RMA, check your SPAM folder for emails. Once the RMA form is completed online and you receive confirmation, you should receive further details within 24 business hours. The response includes email attachements, so some email systems may detect the message as SPAM. You will definitely receive a response if you got a confirmation immedaitely after submitting. If not, let us know and we will be glad to help. The G.Skill RMA process is quick and hassle free so you can receive new replacements shortly.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: MemTest86 passed without errors

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I've always used G.Skill in all my builds due to reliability. MemTest86 ran without any errors. Low voltage, slim profile, and even looks good. What more can you want?

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Pair

Pros: Put these in a build for my nephew 2 years ago. Still running strong in an ASUS M5A97 with AMD FX-4170. He does a lot of video as he is an aspiring director.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: I wish I had some extra money to buy him two more.

3 out of 5 eggsGood Ram but one stick was dead

Pros: Easy to install and the one stick that worked ran fast.

Cons: Had to troubleshoot to find out one stick was dead. Didn't boot with both stick in, booted with only the good one in slot 1, but didn't boot with the bad one only in slot 1.

Other Thoughts: Having to RMA, but already ordered another 2x4gb set in addition to the RMA'd ones hoping they work. I have had good luck with G.Skill and am keeping the faith so far.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you had a problem with a module. To determine whether a stick may be bad, test one module at a time to see if one performs differently. If so, send it in for RMA exchange and a replacement should work flawlessly. The G.Skill RMA process is quick and hassle free, so you will receive a new kit in no time. Once you receive both 8GB kits of RAM, make sure to configure RAM settings in BIOS/EFI for the system to run at full speed. Should you have any questions, or need help setting it up, please feel free to contact us directly.

4 out of 5 eggsGood RAM, but not 100% plug-n-play reliable

Pros: Good speed, good price.

Cons: I bought 3 sets for 3 exact builds. All MoBos updated to current BIOS. One build failed Memtest v5.01 test #10 in about 4 bits with multiple errors. So I'd say the system was about 99.99% reliable.

I had to either lower the speed to 1400 from 1600, or boost the voltage to 1.35. I chose the latter. Never tried it with 1.30 volts, but at least 1.35 volts passed numerous tests.

Other Thoughts: Luckily I was able to solve this issue by a simple voltage boost. I did not want to deal with an RMA process.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear you got the RAM at a good price and the speed is good for your system. Low voltage memory kits like this one may not be fully compatible with some motherboards or CPUs, so some tweaking may be required for the system to be completely stable. The RAM specifications are abve standard, so it is definitely not a plug and play memory kit. It is necessary for the user to manually input the DRAM frequency, timings, Voltage, and possibly some CPU settings. Raising the DRAM Voltage is one method to deal with some issues, and it sounds like it did work for your platform. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat!

Pros: Low voltage means low wattage.
2x 4gb plenty for gaming or plenty of browser tabs.
Black color goes with any color scheme.
XMP support automatically configured (Asrock z87m Extreme4)

Cons: None I've encountered yet.

Other Thoughts: Not sure if I'll have to install 1.25v RAM in all slots for this system from now on. Though I doubt I'll mind since these sticks have been great so far.
