3 out of 5 eggsUnstable at 2133, but solid at 1866

Pros: Look good. Work nicely at 1866.

Cons: I bought these to make a low-end gaming PC with a AMD APU. I know that APUs work better with higher speed RAM, so I paid a little more to get 2133 capability. Unfortunately, when I run the RAM at 2133 (with a variety of timings attempted), my system goes very unstable - basically, whenever I do anything video intensive (like, say, playing a game) I get about 15 minutes of play before my screen goes completely black and my system is completely nonresponsive.

Everything is rock-steady at 1866 (and has been for 1.5 months now), so I know it's the RAM. I e-mailed G.Skill tech support to get some suggestions for how to make it better, but never got a reply. Like I said, they run fine at 1866 and it's more than fast enough for my needs, so I'm not horribly upset, but just a warning that they might not be the most stable at 2133 for you either.

Other Thoughts: As others have said, they're a little tall, so don't buy them if you're worried about space above your RAM slots.

Dear Customer

Glad to hear you think the memory looks good and they work nicely in your system. We can surely help you reach the rated specifications. Not all CPUs can natively support DDR3-2133, so you may have one that needs to be tweaked in order to fully stabilize DDR3-2133. The common solution is to raise the CPU-NB Voltage to boost the memory controller and that should allow the system to be stable with high speed RAM. Should you continue to have issues, please feel free to contact us directly and we will be glad to assist you. If unable to reach us via email, telephone and forum support is also available for your convenience. Once you get a hold of us, we will make sure the RAM operates at maximum performance. With regards to heat spreader clearance, the modules are 38mm tall, so they will clear most large aftermarket CPU coolers, but they may have issues in small form factor cases. We can confirm or answer any questions you may have.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Ram

Pros: Easy to acheave 2140 MHZ on my AMD Asus Mobo with uef bios.

Cons: None. Heat sinks are tall and may interfere with some CPU coolers...

Other Thoughts: Windows 7 - 64bit can not use more than 8 gig of ram. Anything more is just used for prefetch for future CPU use , and is wasted. Buy faster Ram and don't get more than 8 Gig. I monitor performance and ram use in computing never exceeds 8 Gig...

5 out of 5 eggsQuick RAM

Pros: This RAM helped my system get to a 7.4 on Windows experience index for memory operations per second.

Even though package doesn't specifically state it this Ram does work well with AMD FM2 processors.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: When installing this RAM check your memory speed in your BIOS to make sure it is set to 2133. Mine was at 1600 on initial install. It's a quick fix but if you overlook it you will have slower RAM for no reason.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as Advertised

Pros: Had no problems getting these to advertised speeds on the GIGABYTE GA-F2A88XM-HD3.
They had a noticeable impact on the performance of the A10-6800k I pair with them.

Cons: I don't like the 1.6V necessary for the higher clock speeds. I wouldn't call it a con, as it is obviously listed in the specs.
The fins on the heatspreaders interfered with mounting a Hyper T4 in the system. I can't imagine they make much a difference besides aesthetics. Again, they're clearly not advertised as low profile so I can't fault them for it, I just don't see why they couldn't have been.

Other Thoughts: They worked and clocked to advertised speeds and timings. I had no issues during stress tests. These are affordable and reliable, as I've come to expect from G.Skill RAM. If I need something similar I will be keeping these in mind.

4 out of 5 eggsOverclocker's

Pros: Price and speed are very nice. No problems installing them. Plenty of real-world testing done with these exact models of memory. There are many site comparisons and custom rigs done by people who are willing to get you any info you need or want.

Cons: I wish I could have clocked them higher but I will need better heat management first in the computer. I would have liked to get 16 gb instead of 8gb but I have not ever came close to even using half of it so far.

Other Thoughts: Using ASUS A88XM- Plus mother board. Recognized its lower 1600 settings and booted fine. Changed to JEDEC timings included for 2134 Mhz. computer ran but experienced occasional display issues. Primary timings for me the worked was at a decent 9-10-9-26 from default 11-11-11-30. Speeding up the memory definitely made A10 GPU snappy. Those AMD chips really like fast memory. My over-voltage on my memory was 1.6v. I could get 9-9-9-24 to work for a minute or two, but I never pushed the voltages or other settings higher.
The Asus motherboard, OCZ Vertex 460 ssd, and AMD A10-6800K Richland are all working flawless together. M$ sent an update yesterday that ended in 355, it crashed the windows 8.1 and gave random system errors all day. I ended up reinstalling win8 and turning off update so it will be manually applied in the future.

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear you think the price and speed is great. This low voltage memory kit is perfect for gamers and overclockers looking for maximum performance. They can be used at a low voltage for long term heavy usage, or you can crank them up to run at a higher frequency or lower timings. The RAM is very flexible and can be tweaked based on your usage/purpose. With the AMD A10 CPU, and the RAM at DDR3-2133, the GPU and system will be plenty fast for today's power demanding games. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

4 out of 5 eggsit's ok

Pros: Cool looking
Stable
Low price

Cons: Bearly no overclock ability
Bad memory timing

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear you think the memory is cool looking, and it is working stable in your computer. This memory kit can definitely be overclocked. Make sure to increase DRAM Voltage and/or timings to push DRAM Frequency higher than it is rated for. The timings are not bad, this is a low voltage kit. For 1.50V, the timings must be higher or the frequency must be lower. Only 1.65V kits will have a lower timing, so take your pick. If you raise DRAM Voltage to 1.65V with this kit, it is easily capable of lower timings such as CL9. if you have any questions, or would like help with overclocking, feel free to let us know.

5 out of 5 eggsI didn't even consider a different brand.

Pros: Competitive price for known quality. I have never had GSkill memory fail me.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This is my sixth consecutive build with GSkill Ripjaws. Memory is the easiest shopping I do when I build...I just buy Gskill Ripjaws in the size and speed I want. Easy, done, move on to the next item.
