4 out of 5 eggsHappy Face

Pros: I got this stick of RAM for free with a Christmas-Deal back at the end of 2013, and it's worked (almost) flawlessly the entire time. Fast, quality memory.

Cons: About 5 or 6 months ago, I'd randomly get crashes due to memory failure. No blue-screen, no crash reports, nothing. I fixed the issue just by dusting out the RAM stick with some canned-air, but I don't know for sure if that was even the problem. Either way, that's the only problem I've ever had with this RAM.

Other Thoughts: Great RAM, I'm glad I got it for free... RAM is expensive!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Thank you for you G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear you got this memory stick for free and it is working great in your system. 8GB of DDR3-1600 is perfect for any system builder or gamer. To further enhance performance, add another of the same exact memory module and the system can run at full speed in dual channel mode. With 16GB, you will have a high performance workstation that is capable of anything you put it to. If you ever have issues with the RAM and need assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us directly to let us know. We will make sure G.Skill RAM is working smoothly for the lifespan of your computer. That is the G.Skill guarantee.

2 out of 5 eggsOnly stable at 1333MHz like everyone else is saying

Pros: -Stable and quick at 1333MHz 9-9-9-24, 1.5 volts. I got 27.5ns latency, about 9GB/s read uncached and 8GB/s write. That's good enough for me.

Cons: -Freezes my computer randomly if run at 1600MHz 10-10-10-30 @1.5 volts.

Other Thoughts: I bought this thinking that I could set the timings, DRAM freq, and voltage like the replies to these newegg reviews suggest. I figured people really weren't configuring their settings correctly. I have set everything the way it should be and I have even experimented with higher latencies but I still get random freezes. Over 3 days my computer froze 9 times. I switched the DRAM freq to 1333MHz, timings at 9-9-9-24 and now it's been crash free for 3 days.

1600MHz freezes when I'm all I'm doing is looking at a facebook post.

1333MHz won't even freeze when I'm all-at-once running 100% CPU with a crypto miner, running a gamecube emulator, running a counterstrike server, running a counterstrike client spectating the bots, and running a python script with multiple threads each making network requests. 1333MHz is the way to go.

I will be contacting support to ask if a higher voltage at 1600MHz may fix the freezing issues. I don't want to push it right now without their advice.

Dear Customer

Glad to hear the memory is working well in your system. If you have issues reaching the rated specifications, don't worry, we are here to help. With a capable CPU and compatible motherboard, DDR3-1600 should be no problem at all. Contact the G.Skill support team with hardware specifications and they will make sure the RAM is running at full speed in your computer. Also, if you purchase another module, your computer can run in dual channel mode and you will notice a significant performance gain. For any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to let us know.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsG.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB 1600

Pros: Can really perform. Very good OC capability. Cheap but quality memory.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Quick review. I read a number of reviews stating the G.Skill memory is a quality performer (exceeding expectations at the price point). I tried these and am sold on them. I have 4x8 GB 1600 MHz that easily bumped to 1800 Mhz without changing my XMP profile. Surprisingly, after tweaking the timings and voltage I was able to reach 2200 Mhz stable on my Maximus VI Formula. I watercool all components except these RAM sticks (cooled with the G.Skill turbulence) but I will watercool these soon.

I'm running these daily using the XMP profile at 1800 Mhz for normal processing and gaming but knowing I can push these with ease is pretty reassuring.

I was considering more expensive RAM for my new build but am glad I went with these.

5 out of 5 eggsReliable!

Pros: I have been using this ram for well over a year. I have not had any problems with it whatsoever so there is not a whole lot to say other than this is very reliable. If I had a lot to say, it would probably mean that there was a problem.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: you can save those extra slots not used for 2 x 4 ram so you can buy more cause you have more slots left!
