4 out of 5 eggsG.Skill Fast and Cool, but RMA sometimes necessary

Pros: Looks well (doesn't really matter to many customers), good fit, fine compatibility, flexible and precision adjustment timings, good and standard packaging, and fine reputation of the company.

Cons: While it is fairly easy to interact with the company, the RMA system is questionable at this time. Must submit a certain form and await response, which could take a few days. No direct exchange, i.e. provide credit card number and have replacement shipped out immediately. So, when you send out your four sticks because one went bad; you're left without RAM unless you have some extra or buy more. One stick of four started faulting after 14 months of non-overclock, standard timings settings usage. First GSkill RAM Failure in over 8 years.

Other Thoughts: A big and successful company like GSkill could easily upgrade its RMA system by allowing customers to provide credit card number to guarantee payment if assessment of bad memory is wrong. I am in midst of RMA that looks to take a couple of weeks being GSkill is on the West Coast and I on the East. If things go faster, I'll gladly update this assessment. Would be nice if customer service was a bit more energetic and kind when interacting with customers....Dude (don't like that term personally).

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory was a good fit and works well in your system. This is a high capacity, low latency memory kit that is great for most builds. With 16GB of DDR3-1600, you should never experience any lag or delays even during long periods of memory intensive tasks. With regards to the RMA process, we have tried many methods in the past to minimize downtime (such as accepting credit cards), but other issues arise that in the end causes more problems and delays to the RMA process. Rest assured the typical turn around time is 1-2 days, so you will receive new replacements very quickly. We apologize for any inconvenience. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsWorks with ASUS P8Z77-V LE PLUS

Pros: ASUS P8Z77-V LE PLUS recognized memory at default settings upon installation. Reset in BIOS to XMP setting (only one setting available)..

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Upon installation, BIOS defaulted to the following settings:
Speed...................1600 Mhz
Voltage.................1.5v
CAS# to Latency...11
RAS# to CAS#......11
RAS# Precharge...11
tRAS......................28
rRC........................39

Reset in BIOS to XMP:
Speed...................1600 Mhz
Voltage.................1.5v
CAS# to Latency...8
RAS# to CAS#......8
RAS# Precharge...8
tRAS......................8
rRC........................8
Timing...................2T

Turned off computer, removed power cord, and used wrist "grounder" during installation. Memory clearance not a problem with installed Antec H20 620 liquid cooler or other motherboard components. Did not require clearing CMOS prior to installation.

Memory shipped in well packed NewEgg box. Have noticed on YOUTube videos other folks actually touching the 240pin connectors when unboxing. Not a good idea.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat memory upgrade

Pros: Works great on my ASUS P6T motherboard with a Core i7 920. Installed it 9 months ago - went from 6gb to this. OS has no problem taking full advantage of the total 16gb, which I do frequently by leaving a lot of programs open.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsPlays well with AMD

Pros: I've had this memory for over a year now and it simply ROCKS! Runs at advertised settings with no issues at all.
Compatible with AMD

Cons: None at all

Other Thoughts: Finding 16GB of memory that will run 8-8-8-24 @ 1600 can be expensive. I did have to set timings manually in the bios but I expected that.

1 out of 5 eggsCouldn't get it to run as spec'd in a haswell system

Pros: GIGABYTE Z87X-UD3H motherboard properly detected, via XMP, the advertised 8-8-8-24 settings

Cons: Get frequent freezes and BSODs when all 4 sticks are installed, even at 11-11-11 timings. Running a single 4GB stick works fine at 8-8-8.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsG.SKILL Ripjaws Z

Pros: Great speeds, full Quad Channel with good timings. Good compromise compared high end over priced stuff, and much better/faster than the cheaper "value" type ram being about $20 more.

Cons: Slightly tall heat spreaders, might block or touch your HSF

Other Thoughts: this ram does work with Asus P9x79 motherboards!

5 out of 5 eggsDelivers

Pros: Runs at advertised speeds, posted with no issues to specified levels. Will probably look to run a RAM disk as I ordered two kits for 32GB of RAM. This is my first G. Skill RAM and so far I have been very impressed

Cons: None so far, will update should they arise.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It's G.Skill, great quality. I don't doubt that the RAM will have great performance as well.

Cons: My own fault, but like many others who have purchased this before, the RAM is not compatible with my motherboard.

5 out of 5 eggsNot Compatible w/ ASUS P8Z77-V-DLX

Pros: I'm sure it's great for X79 boards... GSKILL always has great memory. Doesn't deserve to dock eggs for fault of my own.
This memory would be awsome if it was compatible with the motherboard I ordered... I should've paid closer attention to the fine details from the MOBO website for compatibility. I ran memtest... It was fine.

Cons: Not compatible.

For all the so-called "enthusiasts/experts"...
(If the shoe fits) Don't dock points off of products for your own lack of research... Just admit you were wrong as I have stated above...

Other Thoughts: MB: ASUS P8Z77-V Deluxe
PS: EVGA Supernova 750G
GFX: EVGA GeForce GTX650Ti
CPU: i7-3770 3.4GHz
