5 out of 5 eggsSMOOOOTH

Pros: 64GB easily running at 2133 on an Asus Rampage IV Extreme.

Cons: The mounting bracket for the fans touch the back of the printed wire board of the video card in the 1st PCI slot on the Asus RIVE.

My wallet is lighter...

Other Thoughts: Married this memory with the Asus RIVE and 2 GTX 670's for SLI. On the motherboard, PCIE slots 1 & 3 run at x16 and the other 2 slots at x8. To get the bracket to not interfere with the video card in first slot, I took a dremel and cut off approximately 2/3 of the bottom section that wraps the memory clamp closest to the video card on the motherboard. Now the fans fit like a dream without having to bend or twist the fan's frame.

Pros: 64 GB lots and lots of ram Support is kinda ok.

Cons: I had some issues and I emailed support, seems it takes them forever to respond to email, about 24 hours, however I never called them. Found if I had bad memory I would have to eat the shipping to send it back(-1 egg)... Luck-fully the ram is ok!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory is working well for your system. This is a very high performance memory kit, so manual settings or enabling XMP is absolutely necessary for stable operation. Without the proper settings, the 64GB kit may not be stable. We apologize for any inconvenience, but email response times can take up to 72 business hours, so we ask that you remain patient. For immediate assistance, you can try our telephone or forum for support. For any further questions or issues, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsEggcellent performance to value

Pros: It's 8 sticks of 8GB DDR-3 RAM tested and pre-approved for OC'ing as a kit. The testing to sell it as a guaranteed kit alone is worth the price, never mind OC'ing it. If you've ever mixed RAM from different lots and fussed and fought with trying to make them play nice together, (or tinkered with OC'ing them), you will appreciate having this all pre-verified for you.

Stable and smooth as glass right out of the box.

Aesthetically gorgeous if you happen to be a PC gaming fanboy that shows off his machine.

The included fans are acceptably quiet (and LEDs to boot).

Cons: Only available in one color but that's nothing a can of Krylon BBQ & Stove paint won't fix. I change mine every time I do my nails.

The fan LEDs are only one color, (arctic blue), as well.

Also, as another reviewer pointed out, one leg of the fans blocks the primary PCI-E port if it isn't already being used.

Other Thoughts: If you have to ask what in the world you would use 64GB of RAM for you probably don't need it.
If you do, (or just have more money than sense and need to get your 3-p33n on), buy one of these G.Skill kits.
Setup and installation doesn't get much easier than putting it in an ASUS ROG Rampage IV Extreme. Just pick your XMP profile in BIOS and you are done.

Unless you are simply a perfectionist and are just looking for that ONE little nit to pick, there is no reason you can't make the fans fit over the RAM by first test-fitting and then pre-bending the legs with a pair of pliers.

Seriously, I really had to sit and dwell on it to make even the silly jokes I did in the "Cons" menu. This kit rocks!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great!

Pros: Excellent middle ground between the 1600 and the 2400 kits. Rock solid in my R4E.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This kit replaces the G.Skill Ripjaws Z 32GB kit, which was also rock solid. The 32GB kit was my first foray into using G.Skill memory. After that and, now this, I will certainly continue using them.

Note that my use case is likely very niche. I have SuperSpeed's Ramdisk Plus on Win7 Ult. x64 setup as a 50GB RAMDISK, file backed to a Kingston HyperX ssd. I have RIFT, Diablo 3, and my Steam data on the thing. If you think SSD's are fast, understand that SSD's are glacial by comparison.

It also works very well for transcoding video.

5 out of 5 eggsG.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 64GB (8 x 8GB)

Pros: I bought the 8X8 (64GB) G.Skill F3-17000CL11Q2-64GBZLD memory kit from Newegg, and installed on ASUS Rampage IV Mobo with 1202 Bios, XMP Profile 2. Win7 X64 Ultimate.

My Rampage IV board has I7 3960X with AMD HD RAEDON 7970 3GB GDDR5 ram on card at stock settings for now. The G.Skill RAM kit runs like the proverbial bat out of hades on the Asus Rampage IV. The G.Skill RAM was shipped and arrived ahead of schedule by Newegg. From now on I am using nothing but this high end performance RAM on my machines. The superior speed is nothing less than hyper-ballistic.

a "winsat mem" command on my machine gives a winsat benchmark readout of:
Memory Performance 40051.23 MB/s

If high performance RAM on the cutting edge is what you seek. This G.Skill X.M.P. RAM is the RAM for you.

Cons: NONE

Other Thoughts: I wanted to buy the 2400 speed G.Skill Ram but had to settle for the 2133 kit. Newegg was out of the 2400 at the time of purchase. I am looking forward to trying the X.M.P. 1.3 Profile when it is released. It is my understanding that the RAM is compatable with XMP 1.3

G.Skill in the future, may wish to include a printout of a short tutorial on setting up XMP profiles in ASUS bios to make it easier for first timers to install XMP compatable RAM. The tutorial would increse ease of installation for many customers, because XMP Profiles fairly new and even some computer professionals are not familiar with it.

4 out of 5 eggsHappy

Pros: Finally stable memory! Bought this match set to replace memory I purchased as single DDR3. Installed it in a ASUS Rampage IV Extreme LGA 2011 set to XMP as per G.SKILL’s recommended settings and tested using IntelBurntestV2 max stress level without issue. Worth the price not to have to deal with overclocking issue anymore.

Cons: G.SILL has certified this kit for the Rampage IV but the fans block the first PCI-E slot if used. One star lost because the fan mounting design/bracket is total garbage and that’s most likely where the fans will end up.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory is working fast and stable in your computer. This is a very high performance kit that will provide outstanding results in an X79 platform. Especially with a motherboard on the G.Skill Qualified Motherboard List, maximum performance can be achieved by enabling one option in BIOS. This is a great benefit to using a motherboard on the QML. No need to spend countless hours overclocking, trying different settings, and tweaking voltages. With regards to the memory fan, we are aware of the issue, so we will make revisions in future designs. Should you have any further questions or issues, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsSO FAR SO GOOD

Pros: So far on ASUS SABERTOOTH X79 all 8 modules come up as 64GB, can use XMP Profile #2 on this board, DDR3-2133 WORKS, DID A TORTURE TEST WITH PRIME95 24HRS AND IT WAS FLAWLESS WITHOUT ANY CRASHES. I AM ABLE TO INSTALL APPLICATIONS, RUNS REAL FAST. I will be updating this review once i get my games installed.
DID NOT HAVE TO USE THE MEMORY FAN COOLERS AT ALL DURING TORTURE TESTING.

Please say hi to Alice for me GSKILL!

Cons: None, fastest 64GB memory on the market right now.

Other Thoughts: the other people below who have no luck getting it to run, i'd recommend getting the ASUS boards, they have the better compatibility for it. I quit using MSI A few years ago after some incompatibility issues. I'm surprised Intel boards don't work as great?
Hope others will enjoy the huge amount of memory as i did.

1 out of 5 eggsNO OC with this memory

Pros: Easy to insert in the DIMM SLOTS

Cons: My system is an MSI X79Z-GD45 MB. Will not boot up with more than DDR3-1333; Any attempt to Oc ENDS IN NO boot beyond post. using an intel i73960 at no oc WITH 64 GB of G.Skill mem.

Other Thoughts: I BUILD PCS FOR A HOBBY. 50 or so in the past 20 years.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

With such a high performance / high capacity memory kit, the motherboard BIOS must be capable of using this memory kit. The motherboard is rated for DDR3-2400+, but that means the Intel X79 chipset is capable, but the BIOS/firmware may not be capable of it just yet. Not any DDR3-2133 or DDR3-2400 memory can be overclocked to their rated specifications; you must follow the vendor's list of qualified hardware to match. Through G.Skill testing, the MSI BIOS is not capable with the G.Skill memory kit, so BIOS tweaks are still being worked out. If you would like optimal performance, please take a look at the G.Skill QML (Qualified Motherboard List) for motherboards that are capable of the memory kit.

1 out of 5 eggsCan't run all 64GB at 2133MHz.

Pros: Nice looking.

Cons: Can't run all 64GB at 2133MHz.

Other Thoughts: Received following from G.Skill concerning running this 64GB kit on an Intel DX79SI MB with i7-3930K CPU:

Dear Customer
According to the motherboard spec you have, you might not be able to operate the 64GB kit at 2133MHz with latest bios version installed, we would recommend you return or exchange the kit to Newegg once received according to Newegg Return policy (do not open the package), we have successfully operate the 64GB kit at 1600MHz but not 1866MHz or 2133MHz with full slots and maximum capacity, sorry about that.

Thank you for choosing G.SKILL

Best Regards

Benny Lee, F.A.E
G.SKILL International Enterprise Co., Ltd

Why then is it rated at 2133MHz if you can't run all 64GB at that speed?

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

With such a high performance / high capacity memory kit, the modules will surely be capable of their rated specifications, but other hardware must be capable as well. In this particular case, the main issue is your motherboard. The motherboard is supposedly rated for DDR3-2400+, but through our testing, the BIOS is not capable of DDR3-1866+ with this G.Skill memory kit. If you would like optimal performance, you must follow our QML (Qualified Motherboard List) for motherboards that are capable of the memory kit. For DDR3-1600+, it is not advised to use an Intel motherboard. The chipset may be capable of DDR3-2400+, but Intel will only support DDR3-1600 memory MAX. You can verify this information, and it is clearly the reason why you are not capable of 64GB DDR3-2133 with that motherboard. If you use a motherboard on the QML, you can enjoy the tremendous performance of this memory kit.

If you would like any further information, or have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us directly. We will be more than glad to discuss and provide any details.

3 out of 5 eggsOverpriced for DDR3-2133

Pros: Only way to get 64GB of DDR3-2133 into a PC without using a server motherboard. Also, comes with some nice fans for overclocking. You only buy this memory to use with extreme overclocking along with an unlocked CPU. In a regular, locked LGA-2011 CPU, you won't take advantage of this bandwidth. Other than that, G.SKILL is a reliable name in the memory industry. They're up there in the top 5 brands.

Cons: Overpriced. A very artificially inflated price tag that's so bleeding-edge it will most likely be slashed in half multiple times as LGA-2011 gets closer and closer to complete adoption for high end hardware. It's this high because they have no competition for this memory kit. And yes, DDRS-2133 is expensive, but not this expensive.

Other Thoughts: If you want 64GB in the new LGA-2011 based motherboards with quad-channel memory and eight slots, get two 4x8GB (32GB) kits of DDR3-1600 or DDR3-1866. You'll save a bundle and you won't notice the difference between 2133 and 1600 unless you're doing extreme overclocking.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Each G.Skill memory kit is pre-matched, tested, and guaranteed at factory to operate in a computer. The more modules involved, the more difficult it is to have perfectly matching memory that operates at such a high performance. This is the reason price is much different from smaller kits of lesser modules. It may seem logical and definitely much cheaper to purchase multiple kits, but if it were that simple, we would just sell single sticks and you can purchase as many as you need. Especially with the new X79 platform, 8 slots, it has never been more important to use a single kit of memory.

We do not over price or mark up for any reason. Even with the fact that there is no competition for such a high performance 64GB kit, and obviously there is a reason for that. A 64GB kit is not 8 modules simply packaged together, if that were the case, you would see many 64GB kits available of different brands.

Currently, there are only two versions of the LGA 2011 CPU, and both will be capable of this memory, the i7-3939K (unlocked), and the i7-3960X (Extreme). So if you have this platform along with this memory, you'll have a super computer.
