5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Excellent, matches the motherboard I purchased perfectly. I will be getting another set to bump up to 16 gbs shortly

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Remember to change your RAM setting in bios, both of my G-skill purchases had to be changed from 1333 to 1600. No big deal though

5 out of 5 eggsGreat RAM After a CMOS Reset

Pros: Solid and stable RAM. Runs at advertised speed at stock 1.5v which is awesome. Some of the lowest timings available for DDR3 1600 RAM. Attractive kit matched my motherboard (GA-790FXTA-UD5) color scheme. Also really cheap. Best bang for your buck if you're looking for DDR3 1600 RAM.

Cons: Too pretty and too fast. Had to take some tweaking to get it to run, but that's more to do with my motherboard and CPU initially not being cool with the new kids on the block. They are good friends now - like Phoebe and Monica. Biggest con is they went on sale 4 days after I bought the kit. But whatevs...

Other Thoughts: RAM didn't immediately play nice with my AMD motherboard (GA-790FXTA-UD5) which does not officially support DDR3 1600 unless you OC. Trouble seemed to stem from old settings stuck in CMOS. The sticks would only run when I set timings to auto. After clearing CMOS and re-setting up everything in the BIOS, and a couple of tweaks here and there, the RAM worked perfectly on my AMD system. Was worried the integrated memory controller on the Phenom II X4 980 CPU was not up to snuff, but after some coaxing the RAM is working perfectly at the stock settings listed above. So if you have issues installing these sticks into your system, try a CMOS reset to see if that helps.

5 out of 5 eggsApology

Pros: Good as it says

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Related to my previous review, I just want to apologize to G.SKILL for alleged problems that I complained to.
There is no problem at all, everything works as it is supposed to.
I was mislead with the previous RAM settings that needed no additional tweaking to be able to run at max speed.
Now, with minor adjustments, everything is perfect.
Sorry once again and thumbs up for G.SKILL!

1 out of 5 eggsNot fair

Pros: I believed it was the price

Cons: Did not get what I payed

Other Thoughts: My friend bought me this ram and brought it to me in Serbia. I have chosen it cause of it's specifications. However, when I installed it and checked it, my bios and memtest are showing that it's working on 1333Mhz instead of 1600. It has sticker with all advertised features, but that is not true. Each memory stick works on 665Mhz instead of 800. My previous ram worked at 1600Mhz, so motherboard is not a problem. Now, cause of my location, I can not turn it back to seller and that is just not right. I feel very much dissapointed.

Dear Customer

We will be glad to help you with this issue. It is normal for the RAM to default at a lower speed. This allows the memory to be used in any DDR3 computer. To enable the performance values of the RAM, you must enable XMP/DOCP, or manually input settings for the RAM. Depending on CPU used, additional tweaks may be necessary, so if you need help with this, please contact the G.Skill support team directly and they will make sure the RAM is running fast and stable in your computer. This is very high performance RAM so we cre certain you will be very pleased with the result.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsExcellence

Pros: Fast, matches my mobo

Cons: Not faster

Other Thoughts: I stopped blue screening ever since I picked these up, although they were really rare, obviously they were RAM related. Food for thought.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's ram

Pros: It is faster than most ram at ddr3-1600, for around the same price. I have only had it for about a week but it has held up so far and looks cool too.

Cons: The way the site describes Cas is a little confusing, and they sell similar sticks for around the same price value even though this stick is 14-28 percent faster, not an issue with the ram itself but still disconcerting.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. This is the best DDR3-1600 RAM on the market. CAS Latency defines the performance level of the RAM, the lower the number when comparing the same exact frequency means it is better. There are other kits that are CL8, CL9, and CL10 that are close in pricing, but pricing varies with NewEgg. It is possible to get a faster kit for cheaper than a slower model on special. For any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsMem Is tight. Definatly change your Bios

Pros: Now my build is solid as a rock. Definitely gunna get the other two sticks. AI suite 3 likes to over clock the memory over the settings suggested and my system seems just fine.

Cons: I got 2 sticks of 4 gigs for my build figuring I would get the other two later. For a couple weeks my new build was crashing for sleeping, for big loads, running my apu at high temps quickly. I still could manage, and figured I made a bad apu/gpu combination or had burnt out the apu temp sensor. Once I checked the comments here I realized I made the mistake a lot of others had here. I didnt manually change the bios to the extreme profile.

Other Thoughts: Theyre Grrrrreat
