5 out of 5 eggsWorks as Advertised

Pros: Good speed and good price.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Though my mother board didn't auto recognize the max settings for this DRAM it ran flawlessly at max settings once they were supplied. I haven't attempted to push it beyond it's rated values.

4 out of 5 eggsGood but...

Pros: Warranty
Price (seems a bit high still but better than individual)

Cons: Memory Modules failed tests when received

Other Thoughts: Bought one of these kits about a year or so ago. No issues at all and everything worked fine. I ordered a second kit a couple of weeks ago when newegg had their sale. Installed the new memory (32GB total) and my PC would randomly reboot.

Did a Microsoft Memory Diag and it came back as hardware problem. Tested each DIMM slot (8) with known good stick(s) of memory and no issues. Tested each stick of memory (old and new) and 2 of the 4 new sticks failed tests using M$ Memory Diag and MemTest86+. One failed the MemTest86+ test so bad that memtest actually crashed when testing one of the bad sticks but not before saying that the tests failed.

I haven't had to deal with DOA memory in a long time. I thought testing was done on every stick these days to prevent problems like this.

Guess i will need to test the new 4 replacement sticks when they arrive.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Please send the memory in for RMA exchange and we can send you a new kit. If a couple modules are not working to specification, a replacement can take care of that right away. It is not guaranteed two kits can work in a single system, but feel free to give it a shot. With 32GB installed, the computer will be capable of anything you put it to. For any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsGreat RAM

Pros: Confirmed that it works perfectly under the advertised speed and timings. Most RAM being sold at 1866 has a CAS latency of 9, but this one is lower at 8. Improves performance slightly, but you'd never notice it in real world performance. Heatsinks are low profile, so it shouldn't get in the way of large CPU coolers. Ran Memtest for a few hours and it didn't find any errors, which is always a relief. Quad channel kit will provide Quad Channel if your chipset supports it; my memory bandwidth doubled from dual channel.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Due to how memory profiles work, most motherboards (if not all) won't automatically set the correct 1866 speed and timings. Initially, it will default the speed to 1600. In order to activate the lower timings and 1866 speed, you need to enable the XMP profile in your BIOS. This will automatically activate the advertised timings and speed with no problem. If for some reason XMP profiles won't work or your motherboard doesn't support it, you need to go into the BIOS and manually enter the correct timings and speed. It requires more time, but you'll achieve the same results.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic

Pros: Low CAS - runs at tigher timings than most other RAM at 1866Mhz. No problems getting it to run at advertised speeds with an ASUS P9X79 (LGA2011 quad channel mobo).

Lifetime warrany :)

Cons: Recent price jump of RAM. Only a few real-world applications/games will have a noticeable performance increase over 1600Mhz RAM.

Other Thoughts: Recently retired some Kingston hyperX 1600 in favor of this set. That RAM was good but this set is better.

The anodized blue of the heatsinks meld nicely with the blue used by ASUS.

First G.Skill RAM I've bought but I think I'm sold on G.Skill for the future unless Kingston comes out with some RAM that's inexpensive and a hundred times faster and just as reliable.

5 out of 5 eggsquick and easy

Pros: It's the only ram around that comes with an xmp profile for CAS 8 at 1866mhz. It also fit under my big noctua nh-d14 cooler. It's xmp profile worked with my z87 board and 4770k perfect. Stuck ram in, booted into bios, set xmp to 1866. All is well, seems like a great product.

Cons: I wish Newegg would have shipped it in a study box instead of a paper envelope, nothing was wrong though luckily.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty Slick RAM

Pros: The latency on these things is ridiculous!

Snazzy Blue color.

Easy install.

Lifetime Guarantee!? Nice.

Cons: The ASUS board I'm using recognized the RAM as 1600 as opposed to 1866. It also auto set the timing to 9-11-11-28 or something like that. So, I did have to go in and manually set that. Twice. After I updated the BIOS, it forgot, so I had to do it again. But that's small potatoes, and more of a comment on the board than anything else. These things are great.

Other Thoughts: I think I'm going to use G.Skill for all my Memory needs from this point on.
