5 out of 5 eggsLots of RAM.

Pros: Fast RAM, and lots of it! Lower profile than other G.Skill products. Lifetime warranty included.

The orange heatsinks match the ones on my motherboard perfectly!

Cons: None yet!

Other Thoughts: Unlike a couple of reviewers here, I received a fully working kit with no bad sticks.

4 out of 5 eggsLots of RAM

Pros: After getting and RMA (see Cons) from Newegg, this memory works great. I never have any shortages. At this time 16GB should be plenty for virtually everyone.

Low profile, and so should fit under most CPU heatsinks.

Cons: Same experience as Human_Fx22

The first kit I received had 3 good modules and 1 bad.

A little on the hot side.

Other Thoughts: The bad module in my first kit did not prevent the computer from booting, and even passed a full memtest 86+. However, Intel Burn Test and Prime95 (on high memory usage) both failed.

Also with that kit I experienced multiple freezes/crashes/blue screens. Luckily, none of these problems are present on the replacement kit.

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the new kit is working well in your system. With 16GB installed, your system should be capable of anything you put to it. Multi-tasking, editing, streaming, can all be done at the same time. It is unfortunate the first kit was bad, but that is why all G.Skill memory kits are backed by a lifetime warranty. Whether a module is throwing errors or completely dead, you can receive a replacement in no time. With G.Skill, you will always have good working memory in your computer.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggs16 Gig Perfection

Pros: The second time's a charm and after getting a very quick RMA exchange from New Egg, this set works well completely passing all of the Windows 7 Ram tests on startup. There were no blue screen crashes which occurred prior due to a faulty Ram stick.

Having tested the set prior when only 3 of the 4 worked, then testing it with the fully working replacement set, the difference is truly evident. It shows mostly with extremely large Photoshop files no longer caching to the hard drive via virtual memory, better known as the paging file size, or scratch discs. It is important to note though, that despite having large amounts of ram, getting rid of the paging file in Windows, even the 64 bit versions, is not advised as some legacy programs do need it.

Cons: Even with the heat sinks, the Ram does get hot in the cramped Dell OptiPlex small form factor case.

Other Thoughts: Though I use my Mac for all my professional graphic design work, running Photoshop CS5 on my OptiPlex 780 with 16 gigs of ram and a new graphics card feels extremely quick in terms of moving around large files, hi-res retouching, opening, and even saving files.

3 out of 5 eggs3 of 4 Worked

Pros: The price and overall build look excellent. I've ordered G. Skill Ram from New Egg 3 times before, each time with great success.

Cons: Having had great success with G. Skill ram, I was bound to have at least 1 bad Ram stick. In this case, the Dell Bios Ram check found 1 of the 4 sticks to be bad. I know it's not the Ram slot in the Dell as there was 8 gigs (2g x 4) of G. Skill in there prior which ran all the test perfectly.

Other Thoughts: This 16 gig Ram kit was the final part of my 3 Ghz Core 2 Duo Dell OptiPlex 780 Small Form Factor upgrade process. Having just added a 500 gig Western Digital Hard Drive, a 1 gig GDDR5 Sapphire 6670 Low Profile card, Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate, and a PCI Wireless 802.11 card. For those looking to upgrade the ram on this particular Dell, contrary to popular belief on many forums, the 780 SFF can indeed handle 16 gigs of ram.

Right now, only 12 of the 16 gigs passed the memory test. Oddly enough, the system booted with 16 gigs, when I did the Windows Experience Index test, it showed 16 gigs out of 16 usable and when it came to the memory part of the test, I had my first blue screen since owning this Dell. It was a memory crash. Using the bios to test the ram, the same thing happened again. In testing each one individually, 1 of the sticks was definitely damaged.

It would be nice to simply contact G. Skill and send back the damaged ram stick, rather than all 4, risking a bad one agai

Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear one module is bad causing problems. Please send it in for RMA exchange and a replacement should work flawlessly. All G.Skill memory kits are backed by a lifetime guarantee for these types of situations. For any reason your memory is dead on arrival or becomes defective after a couple days, weeks, or years of use, we can have it replaced without question. We recommend sending in the entire kit, as they are a matched set, but we do understand some times it can be difficult to go without a computer. As a result, we do allow single module replacements, but keep in mind that you may have to RMA again if the replacement module does not work well with the existing. For any further questions or issues, feel free to contact us directly.
