5 out of 5 eggsNo problems

Pros: purchased 10/5/2012 for $76.38, I have no idea why the price went up so high.
I haven't any problems. all four sticks working just fine, Probably didn't need 16gb worth but I like to have a little extra of everything. I've used these stick in a best buy computer, sold that and built my own comp and used these sticks on a Asrock Z77 Extreme 4.

Cons: Cons would be for future buyers having to pay $100 more than what I did

2 out of 5 eggsNot built to last

Pros: They do what they're supposed to do if you take it easy on them.

Cons: They don't seem very durable to me.
Lasted for about 15 months before dying.

Other Thoughts: Purchased in March 2012 and were working fine until I ran my PC mining litecoins for 2 days straight while traveling. When I returned, my PC (win 8) was continuously crashing with all sorts of different error messages. After ruling out the video card and restoring my PC to normal clocks (not overclocked), I finally swapped out this RAM for my old Corsair 8GB set and it's been smooth sailing since.

Dear Customer

We can surely assist you with this issue. This memory kit is above standard, so manual configuration or enabling of the enhanced performance profile is necessary. Without the proper settings, the system may be unstable and the memory may seem defective. Once the DRAM Frequency, timings, and voltage is correctly input, the computer should run very fast and stable. In addition, not every CPU can fully support full slots of DDR3-1600, so further tweaks may be necessary. Contact the G.Skill support team and they will be glad to make sure the RAM is working flawlessly. All G.Skill memory kits go through the most rigorous tests for quality control, so you don't need to take it easy on them, they will be very reliable.

Thank you

1 out of 5 eggsDo your own testing

Pros: nice looking heat sink

Cons: Don't trust G.Skill's testing (memtest86+ verified 1 of the 4 modules was bad). I have two beefs:
1) G.Skill's "hand-testing" evidently means a very quick read/write check and no stress testing.
2) Yes, the memory has a life-time warranty, but G.Skill wants all 4 modules RMA'd, which would leave you with a down machine for a number of weeks.

I should only be expected to RMA the bad module for G.Skill to verify my testing ... if they don't think a single module replacement will play nice with the other 3, then they should send a new 4 pack and have me send back the other 3 at that point.

It's also worth relating that I have a friend who recently had a similar experience to mine with G.Skill memory (different kind of modules), so I don't think I will be using G.Skill memory again.

Other Thoughts: Stress testing installed memory takes a good bit of time, so you would hope you could trust the manufacturer to be almost 100% trustworthy, but I have two cases in hand of failed G.Sink memory in my own little universe, which says this may be a characteristic of this company's memory.

I am particularly put out because of the time lost to ferreting out the fact a memory module was bad . I installed this memory on a new build (ASUS mb) and all was fine initially, so I proceeded to put in Win 7/64. About 2 weeks in BSOD while in sleep mode. From that point, the problem sporadically recurred. Memory was the last thing I suspected - so I messed with the more likely suspects: BIOS settings, graphics and other drivers, and a virus attack. It takes a lot of time to rule out that kind of stuff. It's obvious now that the bad module was causing the occasional BSOD. Believe me, the next time I build a system, I will take the time to do my own memory stress testing (memtest86+ is freeware - very easy to setup and use - just let it run overnight).

Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you had such issues. G.Skill has the highest quality control standards in the industry, so failure rate is very low. Even so, it is still possible to receive defective modules. Since memory kits have to pass through several hands before reaching you, the end-user, we can not control handling in those cases. For this reason, all G.Skill memory kits are backed by a lifetime warranty. At any time a module is not working properly, we can have it replaced immediately. Direct from manufacturer, you will see that the modules are guaranteed free from defect as they are new freshly tested kits. The G.Skill RMA process is the fastest, it is possible to receive new RAM in a couple days, NEVER several weeks. Send the memory in for RMA exchange and we will show you the true characteristics of our company. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsInstalled on Optiplex 980

Pros: Recognized with no problems when installed

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: Although the G.Skill ram's speed is faster than the recommended ram for the Optiplex 980, I knew that the GSkill ram should still work in the computer and it does.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid performance

Pros: *Priced well for high-performance RAM
*Zero setup issues with a new build = it just works
*Low-profile heat spreaders do not interfere with CPU cooler(s)

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: While overclocking this RAM may be possible, I find no reason to do so in a Core i7 build. The system is already blazingly fast, and OC'ing could easily lead to instability.
I'm not a heavy gamer, though, so reasons for OC'ing RAM may admittedly be lost on me.

I see now how easily the current "upright" CPU coolers can interfere with using RAM with tall heat spreaders, and this RAM does not get in the way of a huge Thermaltake HSF, or vice-versa.
The entire system remains very cool at low fan speeds, perhaps due to the HSF on the CPU drawing air across the RAM on its way out of my system case.

This RAM has performed flawlessly in my recent system build, and I would not hesitate to purchase G.SKILL memory again in the future.

5 out of 5 eggsFast, Stable

Pros: Good Latency
Low-Profile Heat Spreaders
Orange Heat Spreaders (personal preference)

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: A big THANK YOU to NewEgg for the Memory Finder (1st tool under Shopping Tools, left hand side, main page)!!!!!

Helped me find RAM that was perfectly compatible with my 2 year old motherboard.

I've used G.Skill in my last 2 builds and couldn't be happier. I wanted to bump up from 4 GB to 16 GB to ease up on the strain a bit and this was perfect.

Awesome product, awesome seller.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat for price, but not a great product

Pros: Great memory for price. GSkill has always delivered bang for the buck. I own a handpicked custom memory set from Gskill and have always loved their product.

Cons: Set that i purchased off of newegg started giving me memory errors and crash a month after initial setup. tried all the recommended settings from Gskill forum but still can't get a fix to the situation.

Dear Customer

We can surely assist you with stability problems. Please contact the G.Skill technical support team with hardware specifications and they will be glad to assist you. Once you get through with them, your computer will be fast and stable. With four modules of DDR3-1600, it can be stressful for some CPUs, so further tweaks may be necessary. The support team will have these details, so feel free to contact them. With 16GB of high speed memory, you should be pleased with the result.

5 out of 5 eggsG-Skill Will Not Disappoint

Pros: Fast and dependable!
It's low profile with a beautiful color scheme.
7.9 WEI

Cons: Sorry all big ram manufacturers out there, you've got competition.

Other Thoughts: Decided to go with G-Skill instead of Corsair because my build was color coordinated (black and orange) so this set of ram was perfect and didn't disappoint :)
