5 out of 5 eggsPerforms Great!

Pros: This is my second rig using G.SKILL ram and I will continue to buy G.SKILL ram, it is very well made.

Runs at 1866 MHZ, got 32 gigs of this in a machine and I'm loving it.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsJust Right

Pros: Low profile, looks great, perfect match for an A10-5800k and ASRock FM2A85X Extreme6 mobo. Even better since I grabbed it on sale.

Cons: Had to manually set the memory profile / speed selection in the UEFI. Not enough to knock an egg off though.

Other Thoughts: Ran MemTest86 for a couple of hours as part of new system build burn in. During 2nd past, test #7 found 1 bit in error. After some quick research seems to be related to the fact I ran the test in parallel across all 4 cores and is probably a memory bandwidth issue. However, to be fair, at the time the memory test was run I did not have the memory profile / speed selection set to 1866 in the UEFI; so, that might have been the root cause.

4 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: At the time I purchased these, early april, they were one of the best price to GB ram sticks available.

Aesthetically pretty.

The aesthetics doesn't make them really tall like ripjaws, so they can still fit under big heatsinks if your ram is right next to your processor

Cons: Motherboard had trouble recognizing these as 1866 for a long time. Im not actually sure how I fixed it, after about 2 days of going into the bios 100 times to manually set them up at 1866 and save, only to come back and see they are running at 1300ish, eventually it finally saved.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear you think the RAM is aesthetically pleasing and you got them at a great price. The G.Skill Ares series RAM is only slightly taller than standard DDR3 module sizing, so they will clear and fit under most aftermarket CPU coolers. To reach the rated specifications of the RAM, make sure to manually input DRAM frequency, timings, and voltage, or enable the enhanced performance profile. Once that is complete, your computer should run fast and stable. Depending on CPU used, further tweaks may be necessary as well, so if you experience any instability again, please feel free to contact us directly. The G.Skill support team will make sure the RAM is running at maximum performance in your computer.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsAs advertised, Good speed and capacity

Pros: Two 8GB sticks at 1866. Priced competitively. Standard size heatspreaders, so there should be no clearance issues with large CPU heatsinks.

Cons: First few OS suspend commands took a while to resume; after that, no issues whatsoever.

Other Thoughts: I have been buying GSkill for years now, and will continue to do so. Good ram at a good price. Customer service is prompt and informative. There are rarely any shiny extras, but that isn't a priority for me.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Perfect out of the box. I have had problems in the past with memory, but this purchase is terrific. Works as promised with no problems in a high end build. AMD 8350 8core processor. For those who like the interior of their computer to be attractive, this is the most attractive RAM I have owned.

Cons: None and I don't expect any.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat so far

Pros: Motherboard instantly recognized both sticks on dual channel and it has been working fast and flawlessly since install

Cons: none at this time

Other Thoughts: If only PC games had an option to raise RAM usage in their Menus. Most of my games don't even make these things budge!

5 out of 5 eggsPleased.

Pros: Great price point with a 1866 performance.
This is my second set that is now installed on the same TA990FXE Biostar motherboard for a total of 32G. I think this reflects quality in my honest opinion, but then I just might have been lucky.

Cons: None at this time.

Other Thoughts: This DDR wasn't listed on the approved/tested list for the TA990FXE Biostar motherboard. The initial set worked flawlessly, but had to make changes for it to work at 1866. Second set, I had to set the timings manually as the "auto" settings did not work as it did with the initial set. Note - this is not an issue with the DDR, but a note that it works. "Burn In" still needs to be performed. I doubt there will be any issue's. Guess I am lucky. ;)

5 out of 5 eggsGood to Go

Pros: - Inexpensive (even better with the $20 off promo)

- Awesome low-profile AND blue (WOMG!)

- It's G. Skill...need I say more?

Cons: - Have to do some manual configuring to get the clock speed to 1866MHz

Other Thoughts: Wasn't exactly thrilled that I had to manually adjust the DRAM configurations to get it to the speed I paid for, but it really wasn't that big of a deal.

Used it in my 990FXA-UD3 from Gigabyte. Not sure if I had to manually adjust because of outdated drivers for my mobo or not, but it only took a few minutes to get everything up and running.

I would say go directly to the manufacture's website if you need a hand, but it's impossible to find anything on that website (shoot me an e-mail G. Skill if you want someone to do a redesign/responsive design for you :D). Do a Google search and you'll be directed to the G. Skill forums.

All in all, I'm a happy purchaser and would recommend this to anyone looking for inexpensive 2x8GB in hopes of upgrading to 4x8GB in the future.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as advertised, great price

Pros: Clocked to 1866 no problem in my GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 motherboard using specs from manufacturer website. Paid less than $100 shipped.

Cons: Seems to have limited overclocking ability but no reason to drop an egg.

Other Thoughts: None
