1 out of 5 eggsNot a good choice

Pros: low cost

Cons: Bought two of these. One was dead on arrival, the other reported slower speed than advertised.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Glad to hear you got the RAM at a good price. Performance RAM is designed to boot up at a standard frequency / timing, so it can be used in any DDR3 computer. The DDR3 standard is DDR3-1333 CL9 1.50V. In order to enable the performance values of the RAM, enable the XMP profile or manually input the specifications and the memory can run at full speed. DRAM is unlike any other computer hardware, it does NOT automatically boot up to the performance value. There is no "factory overclock" as with a graphics card. Any clocking and overclocking must be manually configured by the user. With a supported motherboard and capable CPU, the XMP/DOCP profile may be used to detect these values. But in any case, it is not plug and play. If you would like help with this or have any questions, please feel free to let us know. The G.Skill support team is readily available to assist you and make sure your computer is running fast and stable.

Thank you

4 out of 5 eggsWorks fine

Pros: It's ram, works just fine.

Cons: Misleading a bit since the original 8G stick from G.SKILL I ordered is actually natively reported to the BIOS as 1600, while these sticks are actually only 1333 with overclock rating of 1600.

Had a lock up one hot day with them at 1600, but they run fine at 1333 as well until I can get some better cooling, but this isn't G.SKILL's fault!

Other Thoughts: I could have sworn that I ordered the exact same RAM that I already had in my box that had slightly better CAS timings, but thats what you get for not double checking! :) Otherwise they work great, just keep a cool case!

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the RAM is working fine in your system. All performance memory kits will default to a lower value such as DDR3-1333 CL9 1.50V. This allows the RAM to be compatible with older systems that may not be able to boot up at DDR3-1600. The feature does not negatively affect the RAM in any way since the SPD profile is not the actual specifications used. To enable the performance values of the RAM, the XMP Profile is used. So as long as XMP is enabled, or settings are manually configured, the RAM can run at full speed. With an additional 8GB installed in your system, your computer will be capable of anything you put to it. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsGreat RAM, Easy to Install

Pros: This is great RAM. Fast and runs cool, the included heat spreaders do their job perfectly. I ordered 4 of these for a new gaming build and they all worked perfectly out of the box, no DOA.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Be sure to change your RAM timing settings in your BIOS to get the 1600 speed. Else the BIOS will only recognize them as 1333.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I received two sticks (2 x 8GB) for basically $10 when I purchased two Samsung Evo 850 500gb SSDs. My 5 year old MSI 890GXM-G65 Bios immediately recognized them as DDR3 1600. I not yet tried to OC these sticks, but with the new SSD and the Memory, I've for the first time scored a Windows 7 Experience index of 7.9 (which is the max you can score). I'll post more after I have time to overclock this memory.

Cons: None at this time

1 out of 5 eggsDead on arrival

Pros: None so far

Cons: Ordered a sweet PC bundle, and I was super stoked to put it together when it arrived. Installed windows, and once it booted up I got blue screened instantly. Restarted and it happened again, and again. Ran a memory test and there were almost 2000 errors detected on the ram. DOA. Not happy about this at all since I have projects that I need to finish for clients, the whole reason I bought this PC was to speed up my workflow so I could work from home, and this is a major set back. If the new one comes and all is good I will update my rating, but for now 1 egg is what it gets.

Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you had issues. This memory is above standard, so make sure to configure settings in BIOS or enable XMP/DOCP Profile. Without the proper set up, the system may be unstable and the memory may seem defective. Also, make sure you have the latest BIOS. Should you need help with set up or have any questions, please feel free to let us know. We will make sure the new module is working fast and stable in your computer.

Pros: g-skill is a very good ram

Cons: when i bought the Combo: 1594327
amd mother board,1 stick g-skill 8gb and amd Desktop Processor

GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX need 2 sticks to work .the combo should come with 2 stick not 1
now I have to wait next month to buy new stick

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. The system can work with one module installed. Two sticks are necessary for dual channel, but the system can run in single channel just fine with one stick. You can install everything and have the computer running and read to use. If choose to buy another stick, performance will be improved so it will be a nice upgrade. Should you need any help with set up or have any questions, please feel free to contact us directly.
