3 out of 5 eggsOne bad stick on arrival

Pros: I've had G.Skill product in past builds and never had an issue. Giving them the benefit of the doubt (3 stars rather than 1), and assuming this was just a fluke. System was running beautifully for about 20 minutes. Have ordered thousands of dollars worth of product from Newegg over the years......this is the first defective item I have ever gotten from them.

Cons: Put together new system and after loading Win 8.1 and just getting my new rig warmed up, started getting intermittent blue screen of death with random error codes (ie MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, BAD_POOL_HEADER, SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED, DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONE_PAGED_AREA). I was miffed by all the varying error codes, but after doing some Googling, I started to focus in on the RAM. Pulled out the 3 & 4 sticks and just-like-that, the system ran flawlessly. Quickly narrowed it down to a single bad stick out of the 4.

Other Thoughts: Newegg issued RMA right away, but a little miffed about having to pay to ship it back and insure it so I wouldn't be out 300 stabs if UPS lost it on the way pack. Should a manufacturer's defect really have ended up costing me additional money? Now I have a $2000 paper weight sitting on my desk waiting for Newegg to receive the returned product and resend the replacement product. I know life happens, and things don't always work out the way we plan, but frustrating nevertheless.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Set of RAM

Pros: Wow pretty much sums it up. 32GB of RAM used in a GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-Gaming 5 mother board. Built this out for and Adobe/video capture project and this just makes things run silky smooth.

Cons: None

3 out of 5 eggsDIMM failed after 7 months

Pros: Very fast RAM.

Cons: I run sys_basher periodically to determine if my RAM is reliable. Desktop systems don't have ECC so there is no way to know if you have a RAM problem unless you run a diagnostic like sys_basher (availble in the repos for Fedora and Enterprise Linux 6 and 7). I bought this RAM in May, it passed sys_basher at that time. Over New Years I ran sys_basher on all of my systems (I have 10). One of these DIMMs failed badly. I ran sys_basher repeatedly (it's an overnight run) and if failed consistantly. I moved the DIMM to another socket just to make sure it wasn't a motherboard problem, the errors moved with the DIMM. I replaced the DIMM with a spare, now the system passes sys_basher.

Other Thoughts: DRAM is not nearly as reliable as people think. I've had several DIMMs fail on me, altough none has failed as badly as this DIMM. Unforunately desktop systems have no error detection or correction, if you want that you have to buy a server, so the only way to know if you have a problem is to run a diagnostic. On Linux systems the program to use is sys_basher, I don't think there is anything as good on Windows boxes (Memtest86 isn't nearly as comprehensive).

Dear Customer

Glad to hear the memory is working very fast in your system. This is a high capacity, high performance memory kit that should be very reliable in any new build. The RAM specifications are above standard, so make sure to configure settings in BIOS/EFI. With the proper values input, the RAM will perform extremely well and stable. Visit the G.Skill website for RMA procedure. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsGood stuff

Pros: Has run stable from day one for over a year now. I was impressed when 4 sticks worked straight out of the bubble wrap without any BIOS tweaking. ( ASRock Z87M Extreme4 MB).

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Not a peep after a year of constant use.

5 out of 5 eggsDifferent but love it

Pros: Insanely fast
very stable
great clearance for my CPU heat sink
ram heat sink color matches my LED color/theme

Cons: Was having some issues getting it set up in my Asus Sabertooth Z87. I'm thinking it was the motherboard not the ram. Even after I updated the BIOS to the latest version it refused to read both of the A slots and would not post until I took them out and only ran the 2 B slots.

Other Thoughts: I had a friend come over who knew more about Bios settings/programing and between the two of us and 3 hours we managed to get it running although (still not sure what we did) in an odd way... For some reason the MOBO wants to read the ram in a raid-ish setting so instead of the 32 gigs at 1600mhz. The benchmark tests and CPU-Z are both saying that its running16 gigs at 3800mhz.... still... not sure what we did but its running stable and insanely fast

5 out of 5 eggsOUTSTANDING MEMORY FOR ESXi!

Pros: Blazing speed, looks great

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I've been using this memory in my ESXi 5.5 home lab for just over 1 year. It performs so well I have ordered another kit to upgrade me to 64GB since my lab has grown. ZERO errors with Memtest, and blazing speed, even at factory 1600 clock speed!

4 out of 5 eggsGot a bad one

Pros: Great ram overall

Cons: I just got a tad unlucky and I got a bad stick, causing random blue screens.

Other Thoughts: probably too late to rma, looking for a way to just get one of these individually but can't seem to find it on newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product with Great Support!

Pros: -Product performs exactly as specified
-Looks awesome
-Lifetime warranty - you can't beat that

Cons: -There are no legitimate cons.

Other Thoughts: I started to experience Stop Errors related to memory a couple months back. I narrowed the issue down to one of the four sticks in this set. I did my research (mostly with memtest86) and sent an email to G.Skill customer service. They gave me an RMA number and replaced the whole set in just around a week. I bought my memory in July 2013. The process was hassle free and I'm impressed at how G.Skill stands behind their product. I'll never buy anything else.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well with Haswell

Pros: I've built two Haswell systems in the last few weeks, one with a Gigabyte motherboard and one with an ASRock motherboard. On the Gigabyte board I first tried Corsair DRAMS but I couldn't get the system to pass the sys_basher memory tests at any clock rate. I then switched to then replaced the RAM with these G.SKILL DIMMs. Even at DDR1600 the system passed sys_basher's 5 hour memory test. I then built a second system with an ASRock board and also used 32G of G.SKILL RAM. It also passed sys_basher's memory tests. sys_basher is a Linux system test tool, it's available in the Fedora and EPEL repositories. To run a memory test do

sys_basher -m -t 1024 >& log &

That will test all of the RAM save 1G.
