5 out of 5 eggsAnother great G.Skill Kit, Excellent Support

Pros: This memory offers high density 8gb modules in a Dual-Channel configuration at speeds and timings that can be very difficult to achieve on your own! The quality control on these kits is excellent, and if you experience any problems with getting the memory going support will continue to assist you until you get it set up right.

Cons: In my case it was a difficult upgrade, my ASUS Sabertooth Z87 was not detecting the settings correctly at first under XMP and I was getting instability. It took G.Skill support a while to nail down the exact problem, but once they did I fixed it and the kit now performs flawlessly under 24 hour burns in P95 and gaming workloads with ease. When you get a high performance kit like this be prepared for it to take some tweaking sometimes, especially if you're also overclocking (and you should be)!

Other Thoughts: I got this kit as an upgrade for my system that was running a Ripjaws Z kit with 1866 CAS 9 @ 1.5v

This kit offers twice the capacity and a noteworthy speed increase over the last one, and it is apparent in heavy multitasking that the increase in capacity and speed makes a difference in the responsiveness and quality of life with the system. G.Skill support is helpful and knowledgeable, and they simply will not rest until you are satisfied with your purchase and your memory is good to go.

1 out of 5 eggs100% Failure Rate

Pros: Please read below.

Cons: I work in the IT field, so I kind of know a little about what I'm going to say. For a stick of memory to fail and take a computer down is rare. If it doesn't fail in the first 90 days, it will last for years. I bought 4 sticks of this memory for a computer build, and all 4 sticks went bad within 2 years. That is a 100% failure rate. Given that the failure was outside the warranty coverage, there is nothing that can be done. The memory purchased was spec'ed by the motherboard/CPU, was not overclocked or used in anyway that would have voided the warranty. I can only guess that there are quality control problems, inferior quality materials, or inferior manufacturing process. However it works out - if you are looking for memory that lasts longer than 2 years, keep looking.

Dear Customer

We will be glad to help with this issue. This is a high performance memory kit that requires manual BIOS configuration, or enabling of the XMP Profile (if supported by the motherboard). Without the proper configuration, it is possible for the RAM to error and corrupt over time. Luckily, you purchased G.Skill and we fully stand behind memory products with a manufacturer lifetime warranty. Since you are having issues with the RAM, send them in for RMA exchange and we can have a new kit out to you immediately. Once you receive the new RAM, input the necessary settings and the RAM should last much longer than 2 years. Should you need any assistance with this, please don't hesitate to contact us directly. Visit the G.Skill website for complete RMA procedure. With G.Skill, you get the best quality product, price, support, and service.

Thank you

2 out of 5 eggsOne bad module already

Pros: Large capacity for home use.

Cons: One bad module already in 6mo under extremely low use.

Other Thoughts: This was in a system that automatically turns on once a day every day for about 6hrs and then shuts itself off. After the 5th month the system would occasionally try to start up and continually hard reset. I pulled it apart and re-seated the components and the problem went away for 2 weeks. The problem returned and I've got it nailed down to a specific DIMM. The system is now left running with half of the memory that it originally had...

Surprisingly this is the first time I've ever had bad memory in my home setup. Pretty good track record considering.

I also have another system with the G.Skill Z series in it that is still going strong after 3 years, so this is probably an isolated incident.

Dear Customer

We will be glad to help with this issue. It is strange a module failed so quickly. This is a high performance memory kit that does require special settings in BIOS, so make sure to do so in order for the system to run properly. With a supported motherboard and capable CPU, enable XMP Profile in BIOS and that will allow the motherboard to detect all the necessary adjustments from the RAM. Once the RAM is set up correctly, the system will perform extremely fast and stable. If you believe a module has failed, send it in for RMA exchange and we can have a new replacement out to you shortly. Visit the G.Skill website for complete RMA procedure. For any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsRocks solid and fast

Pros: Easy to install
Over clocks well
Stable
fast

Cons: So far so good ... No problems found

Wish there was a field to rate the shipping and condition of the packaging. This is twice i have ordered fragile critical computer parts and was surprised to see they have been shipped in soft pack envelopes. the condition of the soft pack envelope was mangled and had mutable folds and dents in it. I guess I got lucky that the Ram was not damaged inside even with the lack of proper packaging on NewEggs part.

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory was easy to install and it performs great. This is one of the top memory kits on the market. 32GB of DDR3-2133 can fully unleash the best CPUs on the market. For AMD APUs like the A10-7850K, the system memory is also used as graphics memory, so integrated GPU performance is highly dependent on the frequency of the RAM. The integrated GPU also shares this bandwidth with the CPU for normal application use, along with the RAM capacity. As a result, maximizing memory bandwidth and having sufficient RAM directly increases performance by reducing any bottleneck. This is the top G.Skill RipJaws X memory kit, so you don't have to worry about any problems about limits. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't work, support is scripted

Pros: Hopefully newegg will take it back

Cons: Barely works; at best machine now feels ancient

Other Thoughts: Bought this expensive memory to upgrade a relatively modern system from 16 to 32GB because the motherboard was on the 'supported' list. Yay, G.Skill, for publishing the list. Better if it meant something, though.

The other "plus" were the several very positive comments about G.Skill support. In the deed, the memory initially didn't work at all and support responded to my first query (within a day) with a suggestion to "boost VCCIO". That didn't help, so I got "test the modules one at a time" reply in just a couple of hours. Still no help, and absolutely no response from tech support now that they've apparently given all they have.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you had issues. When having memory problems, there is a certain way to trouble shoot problems and identify the issue. It is a systematic approach to cover all bases, otherwise it can be very easy to overlook some things and continue to have difficulty determining the issue. After you tested each module individually, were they able to work at DDR3-2133? Did one module not work as well? This step helps determine whether it is a problem with a memory module. If all modules work fine individually at DDR3-2133, or with XMP profile enabled, then most likely they should work together and you can move on to determine whether it is a problem with BIOS/EFI settings with four modules, or if it is a problem with a piece of hardware such as the motherboard. To help solve your problem, we need your cooperation to complete these steps. It is the only way we can help since we are not physically present in front of your computer. This is a very good high performance memory kit that will provide great results for any system that can support it. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsMore than I ever needed

Pros: Took a few tries to get it up to the full 2133 advertised speed, but now that it's there, absolutely no issues. Pity I didn't know that Windows 7 Home Edition only allows for 16gb useable ram, so I had to upgrade to Professional ($89 from upgrade on demand) to make use of the full 32gb.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Not really a con, just an observation. Even running a dual monitor setup with Star Trek Online on one screen, Firefox and VLC playing a HD movie, I've never topped more than 13gb ram usage. For most people, this is probably more ram than you currently need, but at least I won't need to buy more any time soon...

5 out of 5 eggsNo Problems

Pros: No problems installing into my ASUS P8P67 DELUXE.

Fresh install of Windows 7 Pro picked up all 32 GB. I haven't had time to look into overclocking or test performance, but no issues so far.

Cons: Not a huge fan of the packaging. A small bit of plastic broke off the packaging when removing the RAM. Probably my fault, not a huge problem.

No problems with the RAM itself.
