5 out of 5 eggsPerfect upgrade from the standard 4GB

Pros: Moving form 2x2GB sticks to 4GB sticks was a huge upgrade due to the doubling of bandwidth but also due to the massive amount of ram. I have had 0 bytes of page outs and 0 bytes of swap used since upgrading. Not having to page data to the hard drive to continue working with a number of programs open makes everything run as smooth as it should. Whether you like to game (in OSX or Bootcamp into Windows) the memory helps dramatically. I also used it with Premier, Photoshop with dozens of photos over 10MP and never even stuttered unlike with the 4GB. I always knew it was something I was going to do and did not want to pay Apple $200 to only get 4GB more or another $600 to get the 16GB I have now.

Cons: The price jumped 15 dollars overnight while I still had it in my cart. That was my fault.

0 problems with the memory. I have had gskill before, I have friends that have been using gskill exclusively for over 4 years now and their warranty and RMA is excellent if there ever is a problem so if there ever is a "con" it will be taken care of promptly.

Other Thoughts: Recommended for ANYONE with ANY Apple product where you can upgrade the ram yourself. For the everyday user that does not run a couple resource hungry applications while still having everything else open, I would recommend the 4 or 8GB kit (Total of 8 or 12GB depending on which kit you get)

5 out of 5 eggsMid 2011 27" iMac Upgrade. Awesome!

Pros: Installed to run various Virtual Instruments on my mid 2011 27" iMac. Running OS X 10.7.5 & a 2.7GHz i5 processor. Was having issues with Superior Drummer using the original 4GB memory. After installing this, Not A Glitch. Removed old Ram, plugged in new & fired up perfect. Have only been running for a few days but will edit if anything negative happens in the future.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: For the price this was a no brainer of an upgrade! VI's with high sample/voices run smooth now.

1 out of 5 eggsDidn't Work

Pros: Arrived when expected.

Cons: Wasn't compatible with my mid-2011 IMac. I installed it correctly, and the mac recognized the memory was installed, but it wasn't the correct type, and therefore useless. (I believe this is because it was PC3-10600/10666 instead of just PC3-10600 as advertised)

Other Thoughts: The memory was also slightly too large, and didn't allow the RAM "doors" to close completely, even though I pressed it in to the slot with an adequate amount of force and heard and felt it click in.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you had issues. This memory is designed specifically for the 2011+ Apple iMac, so it is strange you are having problems. The memory is definitely the correct type, so that is not an issue. With regards to fitment, all modules are standard size, so it is not likely that the modules are too large. To make sure the modules are secure, you can install the memory several times, or try different slots to see if it can fit better. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsAffordable. Performance. Enough Said.

Pros: This is very affordable when you compare that you'd pay about $300 from Apple to have it. Quick and simple to install. iMac reads it right way, faster performance, and now I can allocate more resources to Photopshop, etc. Thank you NewEgg.

Cons: I just recently installed it, so far so good.

1 out of 5 eggsDO NOT BUY!

Pros: NOTHING

Cons: Does not work with mid-2011 iMacs!! iMac will not boot when installed, it just beeps. Tried all 4 chips individually, in pairs, and in multiple configurations to troubleshoot, this memory doesn't work. New egg tried to charge a restock fee as well when I returned it.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you had issues. This memory is indeed compatible with the mid-2011 Apple iMac, in fact, it is designed specifically for 2011 and newer Apple iMacs. Please double check installation and make sure you have the latest firmware for the iMac. This memory should be plug and play, so if you continue to have issues, send them in for RMA and a replacement should work flawlessly. For any further questions or concerns, feel free to contact us directly.
