3 out of 5 eggsClose but no cigar

Pros: Fast RAM, almost as fast as advertised.

Cons: For the most demanding user, it won't quite do 2400 reliably.

Other Thoughts: I've owned this RAM for 11 months and despite many attempts at getting this RAM to work reliably at 2400 I just can't make it happen. I have a Haswell 4670K. I tried raising RAM voltage, raising the RAS/CAS/etc timings.

I'm running the world's most demanding application (prime95) for your RAM 24/7. Any RAM error can ruin days of work. At 2400, I get a RAM error every couple of days on average. I'm now running at 2133 and have had no problem for two weeks. If you are running most any other application, you're unlikely to have problems at 2400.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Glad to hear the RAM is working fast in your system. This is a high speed memory kit that should have no problem at DDR3-2400. Keep in mind not all motherboards and CPUs can support DDR3-2400, but with supported hardware and proper configuration in BIOS/EFI, this memory kit can operate to specification. If the RAM is stable at DDR3-2133, either the CPU can't support DDR3-2400, or some tweaking may be necessary to reach the rated specifications. For assistance with this, please don't hesitate to contact the G.Skill support team. They will make sure the RAM is running fast and stable in your computer.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsExactly as advertised!

Pros: Price
Performance
Aesthetics
Ease of Use

Cons: Causes "MaxxMemm" to crash and am forced to do a system reboot.

Other Thoughts: I had been using 8GB of 1600mhz 10-10-10-27 1.5v RAM before buying this kit. I actually paid more for the 1600Mhz stuff than this performance kit because this was on sale for only $73 at the time of purchase.

My prior RAM was not very good, but not too bad either. RAM doesn't have too much of an impact on gaming performance, and that is all I do, I game. I really didn't need to upgrade my RAM, but an opportunity presented itself and I sold the old and bought the new.

My old RAM had a score of 60-63ms in MaxxMem, so I was curious to test out the new stuff. Unfortunately, my system crashes and freezes whenever I try to run that program, so I just stopped trying to play with it. That is the only time I ever experienced a problem with this RAM.

Other than that, it is a simple install, plug it into the motherboard, go into BIOS, set XMP and you're done.

1 out of 5 eggsExpensive Meh!

Pros: Looks cool.

Cons: Perhaps not for AMD FX series. Windows 8.1 crashes with memory management and failed system call codes. The pass mark results in 2400 Mhz is lower than a typical 1600 @ 9-9-9-24 RAM.
Tried to RMA to newegg but found out that the free gift from AMD (which was an empty scratch to win) is not refundable and will cost me $20. So I am stuck with this thing running at 1600 and 11-11-11-28 which is similar to DDR3 1333. Stay away from this memory if you have AMD FX CPU.

Other Thoughts: AMD FX-8350
M5A99FX r2 Pro
8 G of meh
SSD v300
Windows 8.1 Pro

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Glad to hear you think the memory looks cool. AMD FX series CPUs can support DDR3-1866 max, so this memory kit is much higher than what is supported. In order to run anything above the standard DDR3-1600 CL11, manual configuration is required. Without the proper settings in BIOS, the memory can only run at standard speeds. To get the RAM working better, set the DRAM Frequency to DDR3-1866, DRAM Timings to tCL 8 - tRCD 9 - tRP 9 - tRAS 24, DRAM Voltage 1.50V. Save, exit, and see how that works. If the system is slightly unstable, you may need to boost CPU-NB Voltage +0.1V. Once the memory is configured properly, the system will be very fast and smooth. This memory kit can work extremely well with that motherboard and CPU. Should you need assistance with settings, please feel free to contact the G.Skill technical support team directly.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat ram, great price!!

Pros: Does exactly what its supposed to !1 Great quaity and looks cool too!!

And the price cant be beat!
Always go with gskill!!

Cons: none, except it would be nice if the heatsinks were optional, sometimes case space gets a little tight, and from what ive heard, they really dont need the heatsinks. With cpu cooler wont fit four sticks, but not really a negative, considering ill never need 4 sticks !!!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great !

Pros: Works great with the AMD 7850K APU I used it with even overclocked well providing a little extra boost for GPU portion of the APU. Make sure you Motherboard can accommodate the Memory speeds or higher. Not every CPU can handle speeds but most modern ones will. Turned a cheap setup into a decent midrange gaming machine.

Cons: Not free....

Other Thoughts: G.Skill has become a trusted memory provider. They continuously produce great memory solution as due most providers. If you have not tried G.Skill memory, fear not as they will surpass your expectations!

3 out of 5 eggsthank the stars

Pros: fast ram i like g skills design

Cons: MEMTEST found errors this was after owning them for a while i found out it was the ram failing so im RMAing them to gskill thank the stars for that lifetime warranty

Other Thoughts: can't wait for my new set

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Glad to hear you like the design of the RAM. The G.Skill RipJaws Z series is one of the sleekest styles on the market today. The heat spreaders not only look nice, but they will keep the memory cool to touch even during overclocking or long term heavy load. It is strange a module is causing problems, but don't worry, send them in for RMA exchange and we can have a new kit out to you shortly. Once you receive the new kit, install them, enable XMP, or manually input settings, then everything should be back up to full speed. For all further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat ram for the Price

Pros: Great speeds, while not the fastest they are handling my over clocking perfectly and on the asus mobo I bought with my new system i can expand the 4 sticks @16GB to 8@32GB; doubling the performance if I want to ram cache or ram disk in the future. Also going to point you that this is my first set of memory I've purchased that wasn't corsair and I am 100% ok with that decision after benchmarking

Cons: the sticks are only 2GB a piece and not the fastest frequency available

Other Thoughts: For someone who has to keep price in mind when their building a brand new system I would highly recommend this ram set for the price of starting off on a 16GB (buying 2 sticks) also they worked on the first bios so they get at least 2 eggs just for working out of the box

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Value for 2400mhz

Pros: the performance is outstanding, and all at a relatively great price

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Outstanding bang for the buck value here. This is exactly what I needed for my mini-itx Bobcat APU build.
Tweaked the ram to run @ 1333mhz with timing of cas5-6-5-23 T1 with my E2-1800

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Value

Pros: I like the physical look of the memory, and the performance is outstanding, and all at a relatively great price.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Out of the box, my motherboard loaded these at 1333mhz. However, simply selecting xmp profile 1 put them right where advertised, 2400mhz with 10 cas latency.

I am a 3D technical artist, using 3d applications and game engines. I haven't done any crazy long stress testing, but I have done some full cpu load renders for several minutes without any trouble. Although, I wasn't expecting to see any trouble yet since it's where it's advertised. Had I seen a crash, I'd have to take all stars (eggs) away, at this speed at least. I probably will not attempt any further overclocking of the memory.

Outstanding bang for the buck value here. This is exactly what I needed for my mini-itx Kaveri APU build. Granted, I haven't tried a whole lot of games on it yet, however, of all that I've tried, it's run everything at max settings at 1050p (weird old monitor).
