Overview
It's Not the Fastest, Until It's TridentX!
Memory Frequency World Record at DDR3 4404MHz
TridentXBreaking the highest DDR3 speed world record at a staggering 4404MHzMHz in 2012, the G.SKILL TridentX series is known as the world's most powerful and fastest DDR3 memory available on the market. Named after the powerful weapon of Poseidon, Greek God of the Seas, G.SKILL TridentX is imbued with extreme overclocking capabilities waiting to be unleashed in your system.
Removable Heat Spreader Fin
The G.SKILL TridentX series features a removable heat spreader fin to improve your cooling options. With the heat spreader fin, the increased surface area keeps the memory cooler. Alternatively, with a system that already has a sufficient cooling solution, the fins can be removed to accommodate massive CPU coolers or other customized cooling solutions.

The G.SKILL TridentX heat-spreader comes with removable top fin design. It allows overclocking enthusiasts to have more flexible options of memory cooling systems, as well as to reduce the height to fit with large CPU coolers.

Extreme Performance
Extreme overclockers and PC enthusiasts look no further, G.SKILL's TridentX DDR3 memory will push your system to an unimaginable limit. Not only available at ultra high frequencies of 2400MHz, 2600MHz, 2666MHz, 2800MHz and 3000MHz, but also available with extremely low timings at 2133MHz CL9, 1866MHz CL8, and 1600MHz CL7!
Intel XMP Support
TridentX All G.SKILL DDR3 memory comes with the latest Intel XMP standard developed for the Intel platform. It provides PC enthusiasts an entirely trouble-free overclocking experience to boost their 4th Gen Intel® Core™ processors with Intel 8 series systems for extreme levels of performance, while retaining system stability.

Lifetime Warranty
All G.SKILL memory products come with a lifetime warranty and the G.SKILL technical team is always ready to provide consumers with complete technical support via online forums, telephone, and email.

TridentX Editor's Choice at Techpowerup
If you follow my posts on the forums, you'll find that I consider myself one of Corsair's biggest fans, but those feelings were thrown completely out of whack when I received this kit from G.Skill. The G.Skill F3-2666C11Q-16GTXD kit managed to completely amaze me with its quality and clocking ability, and I fell in love after checking its price. You cannot find a 4 x 4GB 2666MHz kit for less right now unless it's been put on sale. This kit manages to overcome any performance deficiencies with flexibility and great overhead. At stock, I managed to beat out my trusty Corsair Dominator Platinum kit with a little bit of tweaking. Overclocked, the G.Skill F3-2666C11Q-16GTXD kit managed to go just as high without a boost in voltage. That is just outright fantastic.

TridentXEditor's Choice at Neoseeker
G. Skill's 2400 MHz Trident X kit put on an impressive display of performance, easily overcoming the competition in all but four of the benchmarks used. Unfortunately, the memory was bottlenecked by the processor -- limiting the overclock to a 104 bclk and leaving us with a final overclock of 2218MHz and timings of 10-12-12-31 2T. Paired with a 3rd generation Intel processor, G. Skill's 2400 MHz Trident X kit would have benefited greatly from the increased bandwidth and has the potential to hit 2500MHz with some fine tuning.

TridentXGold Award at OverClockersClub
G.Skill's Trident X line-up comes with kits that range from the 2400MHz kit we are looking at to a 2800MHz kit for massive memory speeds and the associated bandwidth that is a hallmark of higher speed bins. It seems that G.Skill is most definitely targeting the budget overclocker with this set of Trident X modules. A $99 price tag for 2400MHz-rated modules is a welcome sight after seeing huge price tags just a few months back for cas8 and 9 modules binned above 2133MHz. The Trident X are modules that perform well and deliver some overhead for a little bit more tweaking and come with G.Skill's lifetime warranty. Excellent looks aside, the Trident X would make a good addition to any system and have the flexibility to be cooled in multiple ways.

5 out of 5 eggsXMP to 2400 easy

Pros: Got it up and running @ 2400 10-11-11 on a msi pc mate z97 within a few minutes of installing.

Cons: Not the biggest fan of the design, would rather have the smaller Ares series heatsinks. But the Ares series is CL11 and didn't want to deal with instability trying to get them to run lower.

Other Thoughts: Been using this ram (2x4gb) @ 2400mhz pretty much 24/7 since august of 2014 with zero issues.

2 out of 5 eggswas okay

Pros: None

Cons: I've had this memory for over 4 months now and all the sudden. One day I was playing a game and It started crashing and So I decided to run mem test and I got like 264 errors from both sticks. It was running great and very fast but not sure why it's failing all of the sudden now.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We will be glad to help with this issue. If memory test is detecting errors, send the RAM in for RMA exchange and we can have a new kit out to you shortly. To determine whether a module is defective, test one stick at a time. Once you receive new replacements, make sure to enable XMP/DOCP in BIOS, or manually configure settings for the system to recognize the proper performance values. Without doing so, the RAM may not operate properly, and it can error over time. Should you need any assistance with this, please feel free to let us know. Visit the G.Skill website for complete RMA procedure.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great

Pros: - Looks nice in my system
- much faster than my old ram

Cons: maybe I just suck at setting clocks, but my mobo likes to downclock them for whatever reason. probably my fault.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Popped these in my system and ran memtest for 4 hrs without an error. Set up everything in the bios. I'm a big fan of Gskill memory. They are installed on an EVGA Z87 FTW mobo with an i5 4690k @4.7Ghz.

Cons: None

3 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Amazing low latency performance! Really it's all the same. It's nice you can get memory these days and not have to worry about performance. Concentrating on aesthetics is much more easy this way!

One thing that is nice about these sticks are, they have removable heat sinks and you will see no increase in heat. So if you have a clearance issue these open up that door.

Cons: You will not get a huge overclock with these.

Other Thoughts: It would be nice if Newegg had an extra egg rating system. A rating just for Newegg and a separate one for the part itself. So that leads me to having a issue with shipping. My package never left the warehouse. After four days I called customer service and got it all straightened out and Newegg was very professional and reimbursed me for my 3 day shipping. So that was good but I still had to go through the process. I wouldn't take anything away from this product just not a great Newegg experience.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Glad to hear you like the low latency performance of this memory kit. The standard for DDR3 is DDR3-1600 CL11, so this kit at DDR3-2400 has a lower latency than standard RAM. With regards to the heat spreaders, they are very heavy duty as they are designed for extreme overclocking. Even without the red fins, the modules will remain nice and cool under any circumstance. This is a high performance memory kit that is perfect for any new platform and CPU. The high speed can maximize the processing power of any processor on the market, and the high capacity will allow the operating system to remain nice and smooth under any condition. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsOutstanding Memory

Pros: I like This memory so much I purchased more to upgrade my system to 16 gig of RAM

Cons: None that I can see so far, and I have had it running in my system for over a year in very high load levels.

5 out of 5 eggsEXCELLENT memory

Pros: I've run these as my performance enhancer on an A10 setup of my own design (put it like this, the A10 is a fantastic chip with the right accompanying hardware.)

Price was high (my company's a Crucial reseller, but we couldn't get anything from them in red, and the system in question was themed black and red) at the time I was looking, Newegg was the only one with this speed memory in stock and ready to ship for a gaming system in black and red...

Cons: Expensive. At the time.

Other Thoughts: Couldn't get our friends from Taiwan to resell this to us directly in larger quantities.
