It's Not the Fastest, Until It's TridentX!
Memory Frequency World Record at DDR3 4404MHz
TridentXBreaking the highest DDR3 speed world record at a staggering 4404MHzMHz in 2012, the G.SKILL TridentX series is known as the world's most powerful and fastest DDR3 memory available on the market. Named after the powerful weapon of Poseidon, Greek God of the Seas, G.SKILL TridentX is imbued with extreme overclocking capabilities waiting to be unleashed in your system.
Removable Heat Spreader Fin
The G.SKILL TridentX series features a removable heat spreader fin to improve your cooling options. With the heat spreader fin, the increased surface area keeps the memory cooler. Alternatively, with a system that already has a sufficient cooling solution, the fins can be removed to accommodate massive CPU coolers or other customized cooling solutions.

The G.SKILL TridentX heat-spreader comes with removable top fin design. It allows overclocking enthusiasts to have more flexible options of memory cooling systems, as well as to reduce the height to fit with large CPU coolers.
Extreme Performance
Extreme overclockers and PC enthusiasts look no further, G.SKILL's TridentX DDR3 memory will push your system to an unimaginable limit. Not only available at ultra high frequencies of 2400MHz, 2600MHz, 2666MHz, 2800MHz and 3000MHz, but also available with extremely low timings at 2133MHz CL9, 1866MHz CL8, and 1600MHz CL7!
Intel XMP Support
TridentX All G.SKILL DDR3 memory comes with the latest Intel XMP standard developed for the Intel platform. It provides PC enthusiasts an entirely trouble-free overclocking experience to boost their 4th Gen Intel® Core™ processors with Intel 8 series systems for extreme levels of performance, while retaining system stability.

Lifetime Warranty
All G.SKILL memory products come with a lifetime warranty and the G.SKILL technical team is always ready to provide consumers with complete technical support via online forums, telephone, and email.
TridentX Editor's Choice at Techpowerup
If you follow my posts on the forums, you'll find that I consider myself one of Corsair's biggest fans, but those feelings were thrown completely out of whack when I received this kit from G.Skill. The G.Skill F3-2666C11Q-16GTXD kit managed to completely amaze me with its quality and clocking ability, and I fell in love after checking its price. You cannot find a 4 x 4GB 2666MHz kit for less right now unless it's been put on sale. This kit manages to overcome any performance deficiencies with flexibility and great overhead. At stock, I managed to beat out my trusty Corsair Dominator Platinum kit with a little bit of tweaking. Overclocked, the G.Skill F3-2666C11Q-16GTXD kit managed to go just as high without a boost in voltage. That is just outright fantastic.
TridentXEditor's Choice at Neoseeker
G. Skill's 2400 MHz Trident X kit put on an impressive display of performance, easily overcoming the competition in all but four of the benchmarks used. Unfortunately, the memory was bottlenecked by the processor -- limiting the overclock to a 104 bclk and leaving us with a final overclock of 2218MHz and timings of 10-12-12-31 2T. Paired with a 3rd generation Intel processor, G. Skill's 2400 MHz Trident X kit would have benefited greatly from the increased bandwidth and has the potential to hit 2500MHz with some fine tuning.
TridentXGold Award at OverClockersClub
G.Skill's Trident X line-up comes with kits that range from the 2400MHz kit we are looking at to a 2800MHz kit for massive memory speeds and the associated bandwidth that is a hallmark of higher speed bins. It seems that G.Skill is most definitely targeting the budget overclocker with this set of Trident X modules. A $99 price tag for 2400MHz-rated modules is a welcome sight after seeing huge price tags just a few months back for cas8 and 9 modules binned above 2133MHz. The Trident X are modules that perform well and deliver some overhead for a little bit more tweaking and come with G.Skill's lifetime warranty. Excellent looks aside, the Trident X would make a good addition to any system and have the flexibility to be cooled in multiple ways.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I now have 16GB of this RAM and I couldn't be happier with it's performance. The heat sink that comes with the RAM did not fit underneath my Noctua D14, but they are easily removed and then they fit perfectly.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsMy Asus Z97-Pro(wifi ac)

Pros: Once they posted, getting to rated speeds is just clicking xmp in bios. Now I have to figure out how to run them at 2400 and stop my mobo from auto overclocking the processor.

Cons: Originally wouldn't post and I had to update the bios with a usb drive in order to see anything on the screen. Luckily, my motherboard has a button to do this automatically once you plug in the usb. My negative experience I believe was attributed to Asus and not G.Skill.

Other Thoughts: Initially I was really worried why everything wouldn't get me into bios, and actually thought I had a defective board or ram.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great memory that has provided me with consistent error free performance. I've had this memory for just about 5 months now and it has not given me one problem. Popped it right into my ASUS Maximus VI Hero board and selected an XMP profile in bios. Runs nice and fast.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsTrident X

Pros: nice fast ram ...looks great and feels solid .sits taller then regular ram even with heat spreader removed may have trouble with certain heatsinks.

Cons: does not run at 2400mhz on a Cross Blade Ranger motherboard even though the board is compatible with it. Still tweaking the UEFI though, may get lucky. Still speedy ram and would recommend.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Ram

Pros: Looks great, runs fast

Cons: The fins on the top of the memory module didnt fit with my oversized cooler (thermalright ib-e extreme / Asus Hero VI). They do detach, but still wouldnt fit. I moved the fans on the cooler to a pull pull and was able to get everything to fit. Not GSkill's fault per se, but worth keeping in mind if you go aftermarket for your CPU cooler

Other Thoughts: Turn on XMP in your motherboard bios if you want full performance out of these modules!

3 out of 5 eggsDefaults to 800Mhz

Pros: Heavy duty heat spreaders, colors match other components

Cons: Defaults to non-xmp profile at 800MHz, heat spreaders are a bit sharp on the edges, Unstable at PC3-19200 speeds

Other Thoughts: I just got these memory modules and installed them on my brand new Gigabyte Z97x Gaming 7 m/b with a clean install of Windows 7 64bit Pro on a Plextor M.2 SSD. First boot defaulted to 800mhz (PC3-12800). CPU-Z shows "Max Bandwidth" as PC-12800 at 1.5v and only reaches 1200mhz at 1.65v.

Rebooted and chose XMP Profile #1 (1200mhz, 10-12-12-31). My computer froze half way through running the Windows Experience Index assessment. Rebooted and chose Profile #2 (same 1200mhz freq with different sub timing). Launched a game only for the program to freeze again.

I was forced to back off the frequency to 1066Mhz and so far so good. I left the timings alone.

According to CPU-Z under the "Max Bandwidth" it shows PC3-12800 (800Mhz) and not the PC3-19200 as it claims to be. Are these truly PC3-19200 chips or just overclocked 12800s?

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

We will be glad to clarify some things and help you with this issue. The "Max Bandwidth" is referring to standard values; in other words, the maximum value the RAM can default to with AUTO settings is DDR3-1600 CL11 1.50V. This is the same for any motherboard or CPU. To enable the performance values, you must enable the XMP Profile or manually configure settings. Since you had issues with the XMP Profile, test one module at a time to see if they all pass. If the modules all work fine separately, they should be able to work together. Check that all XMP values are input correctly in BIOS/EFI. VCCSA Voltage is an important value to double check since you say DDR3-2133 is working fine, but you experience instability at DDR3-2400. The CPU memory controller is stressed and possibly not getting the necessary boost it needs.

1200MHz * 2 = DDR3-2400

MHz is the real bus frequency, multiplied by two (Double Data Rate) = DDR3-2400

RAM is unlike other hardware, it is not pre-overclocked from factory, so anything above DDR3-1600 must be clocked by the user. For all further questions or concerns, please contact us directly and we will be glad to help.

Thank you
