5 out of 5 eggsGreat Set of RAM

Pros: *Attractive red heatsinks that are also low-profile
*16GB of capacity (more than anyone needs unless doing content creation)
*Runs rock solid in Prime95 blend test so it doesn't have any stability issues
*Ample speed and timings unless you're using an APU
*Lifetime warranty with G.Skill
*Great value

Cons: *Red heatsinks may not suit everyone's taste (but there are other color variants of this product)
*It doesn't run at 1.2 or 1.35 volts (now I'm just nitpicking)

Other Thoughts: Overall it's a great 16GB RAM with no issues. I don't have much else to say about it...

1 out of 5 eggs1 stick defective

Pros: Initial pricing was good. Performed well until one stick began to fail.

Cons: Failure on 1 stick begin less than 2 months after I installed the ram. I do light gaming but mostly use my computer for internet browsing and playing movies. My PC will crash when 1 of the 2 are inserted. I ran memtest86 on both sticks independently in each slot. 1 performed flawlessly regardless of the slot installed and the other produced errors within 15 secs in both slots. I have never purchased G. Skill before and I cannot recommend them at this point.

Other Thoughts: Its nice that Newegg offers a RMA time of 1 month on this memory. Hopefully the company has something a little more promising to say but my computer is not functional if I have to send in both sticks. Guess I will have to go with another brand such as Corsair.

Dear Customer

We will be glad to help. This memory is above standard, so please make sure to configure settings in BIOS/EFI. Without doing so, it is possible for the RAM to error and permanently corrupt over time. If the motherboard supports XMP/DOCP, and the CPU is natively capable of DDR3-1600, enable the memory profile and that will allow the motherboard to adjust all settings for the RAM. Since now one module is causing problems, send the memory in for RMA exchange and a new kit should work much better. Visit the G.Skill website for complete RMA procedure. The G.Skill RMA process is quick and hassle free, so you can receive replacements in no time. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid RAM

Pros: - Cheap
- Looks good
- Fast (OC'd to 1866 c9 out of the box)

Cons: - nothing yet...

Other Thoughts: The pictures make the kit seem plastic-y but it's actually metal. For those getting 1333, make sure to enable XMP.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Ram

Pros: PRICE!!! Bough 16GB kit for 98 USD. The same RAM in NZ it would cost me 210 USD more than a double price!!!

SHIPPING AAA++++ Newegg.com has really surprised me. I have got it in less than a week by DHL! I will definitely buy other things from here in the future!

Cons: Red :) I wanted blue color but it costs 20$ more...

Other Thoughts: Some not really intelligent people said that its 1333 not 1600...BUT IT IS 1600 I checked, you just have to enable XMP Profile thats all.

3 out of 5 eggs1333 to 1600

Pros: nice ram , easy to use.

Cons: i buy this 16Gb ddr3 running at 1600.

it show me at 1333 in the bios.
We can overcloak it at 1600 , but its bad , first time i see thats in my life for ram.
1600 must show 1600!
this is not really 1600mhz. This ram is 1333 mhz.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

We can help clarify some confusion. The DDR3 standard is DDR3-1333 CL9 1.50V and DDR3-1600 CL11 1.50V. This RAM is DDR3-1600 CL9, so it is better than both. In order for the RAM to boot and be compatible in most motherboards, the default boot up specifications are DDR3-1333 9-9-9-24 1.50V. In order to utilize the performance values of the RAM, enable XMP Profile or manually input the settings for the RAM and it will run at the rated speed. This is the same for any high performance RAM. DDR3-2400 will not boot up at DDR3-2400, it will boot at one of the standard specifications above. If you would like more information about this, please contact us directly and we will be glad to provide further details.

5 out of 5 eggsMake sure to run Memtest86+

Pros: Good specs, 1600Mhz 9-9-9-24, and a great value. Even though the first set of memory was bad, newegg was great at replacing it free of charge. Be sure to always run Memtest86+ on new memory, the first set I got was producing read errors after the 6th pass. This test takes some time, so let it run overnight for a couple of days.. its worth it.

Cons: Defects happen, I just ended up being one of the unlucky ones.. but newegg came and made it right.

5 out of 5 eggsG.SKILL Ares Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-1600C9D-16GAR

Pros: Low profile, attractive heat spreaders and easy to install. I upgraded my 8GB Ripjaws to the Ares 16GB. Install was great, and I was easily able to clock them up to the spec'd 1600 and timings in BIOS. I really have no complaints at all. I've used nothing but GSkill since I've started system building 6 years ago and I've never run into a problem.

Cons: None at all!

Other Thoughts: 16GB is still more than the average/moderate user and gamer will need at this point in time, but when Newegg has a sale and you can get an upgrade at a great price, why wouldn't you buy?!

5 out of 5 eggsSolid RAM

Pros: Product arrived quickly and easily installed into motherboard. Performance has been very good so far.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I picked these up on a shell shocker deal for 100 bucks. Couldn't beat that price for 16GB of RAM.
