2 out of 5 eggsErrors after 3 months

Pros: Good price, worked well at first.

Cons: After 3 months errors/crashes began and testing with memtestx86 showed one stick was bad.

Other Thoughts: Calling the technical support department I found their RMA process does not offer an option to cross ship the replacement and also the entire set needs to be returned rather than just the defective one. Having to purchase/borrow additional memory for the RMA period just adds to the negative impression I now have of G.Skill.

I will purchase from Crucial, Kingston, or Mushkin in the future since they all offer cross ship replacements for RMAs.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Glad to hear you got the RAM at a good price. It is unfavorable a module has gone bad. Please send it in for RMA exchange and a replacement should work flawlessly. Unfortunately, we do not offer cross shipping, but you can return partial kits. It is highly recommended to exchange the entire kit so you can receive a new kit back; this ensures optimal performance. Once you receive the new kit, make sure to enable XMP/DOCP/EOCP in BIOS/EFI, or manually input settings since this RAM is above standard. Without the proper memory configuration, the system may be unstable and it is possible for the RAM to corrupt over time. Should you need any assistance with this, please feel free to let us know. The G.Skill support team can make sure the RAM runs fast and stable in your computer.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsGreat deal, great buy

Pros: Cheap black friday deal for 32 GB RAM. Running on a gaming system combined with two 560 Ti's and an i-7 3770k. These can handle high intensity games, run programs in the background and still have room for anything else. Also works great for audio, video, or picture editing (Photoshop and such love the space).

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Works with the ASRock Z77 Extreme 6 even though it's not listed on ASRock's compatibility list, when run with a supporting CPU.

2 out of 5 eggsIt worked great for two months

Pros: It looks cool, it's fast, and it looks and feels quite solid

Cons: After 2 months one of the modules decided to commit seppuku and stop working properly, but instead of just crashing, it started flipping bits randomly and SILENTLY.

It took me a few days to figure out what was going on, until finally memtest86 confirmed that one slot was bad :(

Maybe this is why it's called a GAMING RAM instead of a work ram or a "run your phd thesis with me" RAM

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Glad to hear you think the RAM looks cool and it was working fast in your system. This memory kit is above standard, so please make sure to configure settings in BIOS/EFI. As with any performance memory kit, it is necessary to manually input the DRAM Frequency (DDR3-1600), DRAM Timings (9-9-9-24), and DRAM Voltage (1.50V), or enable the XMP/DOCP/EOCP profile in BIOS (if supported by motherboard). Doing so will allow the memory to run as intended. Without the proper configuration in BIOS, the memory may corrupt over time. In addition, not all CPUs natively support 4 modules at DDR3-1600. In some cases, additional tweaks are necessary to stabilize the CPU memory controller. Should you need any assistance with this, please feel free to contact us directly. We will make sure the RAM is running fast and stable in your computer.

For defective RAM, simply complete the RMA procedure online, and we can have new RAM sent to you immediately. Please visit the link below.

5 out of 5 eggsMore then impressed...

Pros: Excellent for tweaking.

I managed to get them running @ CL7 1T timings with some voltage increase.
They ran perfectly.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: Was always skeptical of Gskill, but after trying these modules out I now will always keep them in mind when buying new memory.

5 out of 5 eggsSeems to Work Properly

Pros: 32g of matched memory. No doa issues/faults (which is a minor miracle these days). The come with their own heatsinks, which is also common practice but hey...they're on there properly. :-)

Cons: none that I can tell thus far.

Other Thoughts: I've had the memory installed for about 4 months, and the computer has only seen regular usage (gaming and surfing) for 3 months. Here are the vitals:
Win7 (64)
AMD FX-8350 8-core 4.01ghz
ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 AM3+ AMD
OCZ Vertex Plus R2 VTXPLR2-25SAT2-240GB
Western Digital WD Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200
SAPPHIRE 100311-3L Radeon HD 6970 2GB 256-bit

5 out of 5 eggsMore then impressed.

Pros: Works out of box with XMP settings in bios. Very good overclocking memory, was able to achieve CL 7 1T timings at stock speeds and a bit of a voltage increase, more then I expected considering the CL 9 rating.

Cons: Cant really think of any, well maybe the heatspreader on one of the modules was not stuck right when I inspected the memory. I applied some pressure and it stuck fine. No big deal.

Other Thoughts: Always used more well known brands such as the big K or "mushky". So was kind of weary of Gskill. But now that has changed, they offer just as good memory or even better for a lower price aimed at enthusiasts.

5 out of 5 eggsFast and stable

Pros: Works really well with LGA 2011 AsRock Extreme6 MoBo. No issues whatsoever.

Cons: The packaging is kind of terrible. 4 sticks of RAM in a thin plastic case with no protection of any kind from outside impact due to shipping or storage damages.
I wish heatsinks were larger, but i guess it's designed for an add-on RAM fans

Other Thoughts: This particular RAM is not officially supported by AsRock, at least it's not listed on the website, but works fine anyway.

Paired with i7-3039K CPU and Nvidia Quadro 4000, it's fastest workstation i ever owned :)

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing for tweaking!!!

Pros: Works perfect out of box, just set XMP in bios.

Then the fun part comes when overclocking, for those of us without unlocked multipliers we have to adjust RAM speeds in concern to fsb speed. I had this gskill @760 MHz and tweaked for tight timings and I must say this is the best overcloking ram I have ever seen, I got it @ 7-8-8-15 1T with 1.8v, rock solid stable and an overnight pass of memtest 4.20 no errors.

Cons: None that I could think of, except maybe the heatspreaders didn't seem to be too stuck, I had to press down hard on them to get them in place right.

Other Thoughts: Best RAM I ever owned, was always skeptical of Gskill and preffered the old school big K1ng or Mushky brands, that has changed now, Gskill is more economical and better for tweaking :)
