3 out of 5 eggsGood but Won't Run as Advertised

Pros: Memory works, does not run hot, able to handle everything thrown at it.

Cons: Will not run as advertised. No matter what I do I can't get the memory to run at the advertised speed. I have tried everything I can think of, it just won't run at 1866. I even did a memtest to ensure the memory wasn't bad. Memtest found 0 errors.

Other Thoughts: When forcing BIOS to run the memory at 1866 and increase the voltage to safe levels my computer would start, post (single short beep), and start loading windows. While on the windows loading screen the computer would force restart, and continue to do so until entering BIOS and reducing the clock speed below 1866.

Dear Customer

We will be glad to help you with this. Please contact the G.Skill technical support team with hardware specifications. Not all CPUs can natively support DDR3-1866, so additional tweaks may be necessary. Since memory test found 0 errors, most likely the RAM is good and the CPU memory controller needs a boost to stabilize DDR3-1866. Once you reach the G.Skill support team, they will make sure the RAM runs completely stable at the advertised specifications. For all further questions and concerns, feel free to let us know directly.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsGaming RAM

Pros: Fast clock speed, solid heatsinks, looks cool.

Cons: A little pricey.

Other Thoughts: Have had these sticks for just over a year now and I love them. They are really fast and work great.

I did have one stick go bad a few weeks ago, but the RMA process through gskills website was awesome. I got a replacement stick with no hassles in about a week. Highly recommend.

4 out of 5 eggs1 Bad stick

Pros: Nice looking, 1866MHz, 16GB set.....not much I can say, couldn't use it

Cons: 1 bad stick in set. I have had bad memory once in 21 years. I am very disappointed it happened this time. This was my first PC build since 2010 and it needed it going quickly for work. MemTest showed thousands of errors in about 5 minutes. Newegg RMA has been easy and quick but my new PC is just sitting there,,,,

Other Thoughts: I have used a lot of G.Skill memory and this is my first bad stick. It happens, I just wish it didn't. I hate paying to return defective parts!

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear you like the appearance of the Sniper series RAM. We sincerely apologize for the defective module, a new kit should work much better. RMA turn around time is very fast, so your computer should be up to full speed shortly. With 16GB of DDR3-1866, it will maximize the processing power of your CPU, so your computer should be capable of anything you put it to. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

4 out of 5 eggsG.Skill 11 Month Review

Pros: Fast, Value

Cons: RMA required after 10 months

Other Thoughts: I have this paired with an asus sabertooth 990fx r2.0 board. Memory has to be hard coded into the bios to reach promised speeds, otherwise it'll default to something like 1333mhz, at least it did for me. Not a big deal, just something to be aware of.

Reason for follow up review, is that somewhere around the 9 month mark, I started receiving random BSODs. Memtest revealed faulty memory when both sticks were running together. I contacted G.Skill, and they immediately issued RMA, no questions asked.

RMA process was quick and easy. Cost me $3 to send from Chicago to Walnut, Ca w/tracking, and I had the replacement memory in my hands 4 business days later.

Ran memtest overnight, and this time error free with replacement sticks. BSOD have completely disappeared.

G.Skill stands behind their product, no questions asked, and for that, I would purchase from them for my next build. Also, I would not hesitate to recommend to any friend.

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory kit works well with your ASUS 990FX motherboard. This 16GB DDR3-1866 kit can fully unleash the performance of most AMD CPUs on the market. The specifications are much above standard, so you are correct in that manual BIOS configuration is required to run at the rated speed. If assistance is needed, don't hesitate to contact the G.Skill technical support team.

Glad to hear you were able to get the memory replaced in a timely fashion. We understand how important it is to have your system working properly, so the G.Skill RMA process is set up to have the fastest turn around time in the industry. Once you receive the new kit and configure settings for the RAM, the computer should be back up to full speed in no time.

Thank you for supporting G.Skill

5 out of 5 eggsWoot

Pros: Fast ram, dropped it right in and it recognized it. I shouldn't need to upgrade for a few years. I recommend it so far.

Cons: Nothing as far as the ram goes, the sticker that came with it is red, and it doesn't match my case lol.

4 out of 5 eggsScientist for bioinformatics

Pros: I received the first module of 16gb and easily set it to 1866mhz in the bios on my MPOWER Max mobo.

Never had a problem and have been running stably.

Cons: I needed even more RAM as I do intense bio-informatics software applications and ordered a second unit. Only one of the DIMMS was working and I didn't realize it. I had system stability issues etc.

I ran memtest86 and one of the new DIMMS was faulty generating over 30,000 errors in 15 minutes. Currently doing an RMA. Unfortunately this is delaying my work by up to two weeks.

Other Thoughts: I would give this 5 stars if I received only working units. However I guess not all ram is perfect all the time right?

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory works well in your system. It is strange a module is defective, but don't worry, we can replace it right away. The G.Skill RMA process is quick and hassle free, so your computer can be up to full speed in no time. Generally it is best to only use a single kit of RAM in each system, but hopefully your two kits can work well together. For all further question or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's Ram tough

Pros: It works , it fits , it runs cool and it looks good . G skill as been my go to ram for years . Never had a bad stick , but if I did get one G skill would take care of it with no delay , or oi I've heard .
It OC well and runs cool

Cons: It's not free ?

Other Thoughts: Works well , runs cool looks good , what more do you need . Oh yeah , it's sure to fit , unlike some ram with the huge heat spreaders , these low profile heat spreaders work fine , no worries about fit if you have a big air cooler

5 out of 5 eggsSo far very good.

Pros: The installation was as follows: Remind your Bios it's an 1866 pair of sticks. All done. Have no need at this point to OC so can't comment on that. Ran a couple of Benchmarks to see if it achieved its own specs. Passed nicely. Also the price was a nice surprise after shopping for a couple of months. Still reasonably priced for its quality as of this writing.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: N/A
