5 out of 5 eggsWorks flawlessly

Pros: This was a perfect match for a mid-2012 MacBook Pro that originally came with 4GB (2x 2GB) of memory and desperately needed more. This memory was instantly recognized and has been working flawlessly ever since.

Cons: Like some other reviewers here, I found the timing/latency to be surprisingly high compared to memory that I've purchased in the past. However, doubling the memory and maintaining the max frequency that the board supports (1600MHz, in my case) was what I was after, and it is definitely an improvement.

Other Thoughts: Buying this memory has saved me from buying a new MacBook, plain and simple. I highly recommend this to anyone who is experiencing slowness and is looking for a cheaper alternative to a new machine!

3 out of 5 eggsPower users, go with 16gb!

Pros: Memory was recognized right away. Never gave me any errors. Seemed to be decent quality. Not "WOW!" speed, but it was enough to get me by for over a year...

Cons: Being a power user, this memory just proved to not be enough for me. Just bought the Kingston 16gb, which I hope will take my MacBook to the level I need it to be at... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=20-239-995

See below for more details.

Other Thoughts: I have a Macbook Pro 13" Mid 2012 (2.5GHz Intel Core i5). I am in the graphic and web design business, so I frequently use Illustrator, Photoshop, and have several tabs open in several browsers, with some Developer consoles open for CSS editing. I also have Parallels with Windows 7 installed, and every now and then I also use Camtasia or iMovie for video editing. As you may know, those are all hardware-intensive programs. I thought upgrading to 8GB would be enough for me. Unfortunately, I realized after about a month that it was just not enough. However, it was just enough to get by for over a year. Now, finally, I am at the point where I need to upgrade again. (Apple says MacBooks max at 8GB RAM, but the reality is that they can go up to 16GB, depending on when you bought it.)

For power users like me, trust me... just skip straight to buying the 16GB. I don't have the 16GB installed yet, as I just purchased it from Newegg today.. But, all the reviews I read in forums and on this site say that having 16GB fixed their problems, even with people that already had 8GB. So, I'm fairly confident that it will solve my issues as well.

Hi Christopher

Glad to hear the memory was recognized right away and works flawlessly in your Apple MacBook Pro Mid 2012. This is a perfect plug and play memory kit for most users as DDR3-1600 can unleash the processing power of any CPU, and 8GB is sufficient for daily use, multi-tasking, gaming, and more. Though for power users like those working with extremely large file sizes or have multiple programs continuously crunching in the background, 16GB is recommended. Especially for business and professionals, it's always best to have too much RAM than not enough. The price difference for an extra 8GB is well worth the investment to maximize capabilities. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsexactly what I needed

Pros: Twice as much RAM as I originally had in my laptop and that significantly improved performance and load up times for applications, and the speed isn't bad either

Cons: The latency is a bit high but considering I have much better performance I can't complain

Other Thoughts: After spending two semesters in college waiting for a good thirty seconds or more for even native apps to load and not having great responsiveness, installing these RAM sticks has given me the performance I desired

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Memory

Pros: - Good brand name
- Quick memory (1600, not 1333)
- Price is pretty good.

Cons: - Cas latency is 11, but I haven't noticed any difference between this and my gaming pc, which has 16GB Corsair memory with a cas latency of 7, and some other RAM with a cas latency of 9.

Other Thoughts: Overall this was a good investment, along with a Samsung 840 EVO for my Mac Mini (Late 2012)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat RAM

Pros: This ram works great right out of the box with no problems! It was a cinch to install in my MacBook Pro though make sure you check your Mac to make sure you can use SO-DIMMS. The new Retina display Macs and the Air have the ram soldered directly to the main board and are not upgradeable.

Cons: None!

Other Thoughts: I have had it for over 2 months now and it is rock solid. I only wish I had bought a larger size!

1 out of 5 eggsNO GOOD

Pros: Works at first

Cons: RAM is no longer working correctly. My computer has been going nuts with kernel panics and I can never keep my available RAM up even when hardly none is in use.
