1 out of 5 eggsResponse to Manufactures response

Pros: Ran at 1866

Cons: In my earlier review I noted that I bought 16G of this memory(4x4G) Two of the sticks refused to run faster than 1866 regardless of what I did. I contacted the Manufacturer and was provided information to allow me to tweak voltages in an effort to get it to run at advertised speed. It refused to run above 1866. The other two sticks ran at 2133 but I had numerous crashes. I realize as a Manufacturer you are trying to do damage control when some one gives you a bad review on your product but I have been playing with computers since the TRS-80 and building them for many years and this is the first time I couldn't get memory to run at the advertised speed. Funny how all my problems went away when I changed to a higher priced brand of memory.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you had such issues. The advertised speed of the RAM is no longer guaranteed with multiple kits of RAM. In most cases, it is necessary to downclock frequency for the system to be perfectly stable. In the future, only use a single kit of RAM in each system and you should not have any problems. Each kit is guaranteed to operate at the rated specifications, so if you purchase a 16GB kit of DDR3-2133, it will do just that. There are cases where separate kits work fine together, but that is luck of the draw. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

Thank you

1 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: Manages to run at 1866

Cons: I bought 16G of this memory to use with my new Kaveri build. Two of the sticks refused to run higher than 1866. The other two seemed to run at 2133 but when I played games I got frequent crashes. I thought it was a cooling problem and pursued additional cooling to no avail. I belatedly noticed that my board was listing this memory as 1866 rather than 2133. When I replaced the memory with another more expensive brand the new memory listed as the proper speed and the problem went away. Don't know if it was a Q.C. problem or if the memory was falsely labeled 2133 when it was only 1866 or perhaps my board just didn't like it. I managed to send two of the sticks back but got stuck with the other two because I couldn't find all the packaging. I will avoid this brand in the future.

Other Thoughts: Tried to save a buck by going with this brand and got burned. Karma

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

We are sorry to hear you had such issues. Performance RAM does not automatically default to rated values. The DOCP/XMP Profile must be enabled, or manual setting is required for the RAM to run at full speed. In the future, if you have any problem, please contact us directly and we can show you how to optimize your system. There is no problem with the RAM and it is not mis-labeled. With a capable CPU and compatible motherboard, we are more than glad to show you how to set things up properly. Once you are done, the computer will be fast and stable.

5 out of 5 eggsHi mom

Pros: G.Skill earned my business years ago. It is the only brand i buy. I popped these into a new A10-7700 build, went to bios and set them to 2100. Easy as that, no fuss at all.

I did some reading on the A10 chips and seen the gfx scale really well with faster Ram so went with these.

Cons: There are no cons. It does what it advertises and has a lifetime warranty.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Memory

Pros: Fast out of the box. lifetime warranty

Cons: Can't overclock at all without reducing timings - pretty sure these are 1600 mhz chips that are overclocked already.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory is working fast out of the box. There is no such thing as "overclocked already". DRAM is not like a graphics card that can come pre-overclocked from factory. The DDR3-2133 CL10 specifications are the values we tested the RAM to be stable at. In order to achieve these values, a capable CPU and motherboard is necessary. You can find the qualified motherboards list on our website under each memory kit. With compatible hardware, enable the XMP/DOCP settings, or manually input the values, and the system should work flawlessly. If you have issues overclocking with other hardware, or if you are not sure how to configure settings, don't worry, contact the G.Skill support team and they will be glad to assist you. Once you are through with them, your computer will run at full speed.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid RAM

Pros: Extremely good RAM. Easily clocks to more than 2133Mhz, no need to for extreme overvolting. No compatibility issues, and easy overclocking.

Cons: None-it's good RAM.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory is working extremely well in your system, and clocking very nicely. This is a high performance memory kit that works flawlessly for motherboards and CPUs that can support extreme frequency. With a compatible motherboard and CPU, enable the memory profile (XMP/DOCP) in BIOS/EFI, and the system can run at full speed. This feature allows the motherboard to automatically detect and configure the rated specifications of the RAM. Overclocking has never been easier. For any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent RAM

Pros: It works.....thank goodness.

Cons: It wasn't under $70 and I'm poor OK !

Other Thoughts: Upgrade when you can, donate it when you can't upgrade it. Upgrading an older Athlon II x2 245 from 2GB DDR2-800 with a new ASUS M5A97 Pro R2.0....auto detected @1600_CL11_1.6V, best performance\efficiency achieved @1333_CL7_1.5V. Will update if my experience changes for the worse (gosh, i hope not). If you have trouble with the height, use Item#: N82E16820231653 instead or in the two slots closest to the CPU (if you have this kit already). When i buy an FX8320, I'll tell you how 2133MHz goes with these.

4 out of 5 eggsupdating my initial review

Pros: works at advertised timings, attractive heatsinks, fast memory

Cons: first set had to be rma'd, ran stable at 1600 but no amount of tweaking would get it past 1600. replacement set works great

Other Thoughts: I bought 2 more sticks to fill the A1 and A2 slots to bring me to 16GB :) hopefully i get a good pair

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear you like the appearance of the RAM and the memory works at advertised timings. This is a high speed, high capacity memory kit so you should be very pleased with the result. DDR3-2133 will fully unleash the performance of any CPU on the market, so you do not have to worry about bottlenecking. With 16GB installed, the computer will be capable of anything you put it to. Even during high load situations such as multi-tasking, the operating system will remain nice and smooth since it has sufficient memory. Gone are the days of lag and delays. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us directly.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks flawlessly @ 2133 and 1.6V

Pros: Works @ 2133 Mhz @ 10-12-12-31 with XMP profile 1.3 on my Z87-GD65 in dual channel mode.
Heatsinks are nice and cool.
:Looking forward to set some aggressive timings.

Cons: None so far except that I had to manually turn on XMP from BIOS.

Other Thoughts: The TridentX is priced higher than RipJaws X.
Memory price has shot up from last year.
