5 out of 5 eggsItem worked fine in Lenovo y510p Laptop

Pros: Worked out of the box, no errors in memtest

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I would purchase this again.

I replaced two mismatched 3gb modules that had a higher CAS and lower speed assuming I would see a small but tangible benefit. Unfortunately the only measurable benefit was in synthetic benchmarks... and I should have probably expected that. Still, the memory worked with no issues and was picked up as DDR3L 1600 by the bios. Mem-tested over and over again with no errors.

1 out of 5 eggsBroken, and so was the RMA replacement.

Pros: The RMA process was fairly simple, and the replacement was prompt, if useless.

Cons: Both DIMM's failed memtest. And I don't mean they reported errors, I mean memtest hit some exception and couldn't even *start*. I tested them on another laptop (from a different manufacturer) to make sure that it wasn't something odd about mine, and the other laptop just ignored it, like it wasn't even plugged in.

I got an RMA replacement, and the replacement fails with exactly the same behavior. I'd send it back again, but after a few rounds of this, the cost of shipping would exceed the cost of buying another brand.

Other Thoughts: This isn't the first time I've had to send a GSkill DIMM back for a replacement, although it is the first time that the replacement was bad.

Hi Kyle

We are sorry to hear you had such issues. Most likely the RAM was not defective. This performance memory kit is not fully supported for any laptop. When experiencing strange issues, first make sure you have the latest BIOS. Then test one module at a time to see if a stick performs differently than the other. There are two memory modules and the likelihood of both being defective is extremely rare. So if both modules cause the same exact problem, it may be a compatibility issue. If one works fine and the other does not, then you know it is simply a defective stick. In the future, for any issues like this, please don't hesitate to contact us directly. The G.Skill support team is readily available to make sure your laptop is upgraded and working flawlessly with G.Skill RAM.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsGreat, as usual

Pros: The memory does what it is suppose to do and at a low voltage. I have had very good results with all the G.SKILL Ripjaws memory sticks I have bought. All things equal, I will buy a G.SKILL Ripjaws stick over a competing brand.

Cons: Newegg raised the price within the last week!

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well.

Pros: Used it in Gigabyte Brix BXA8-5557 and it works well.
Price is good.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Can't really tell if other RAM would work better or worse, but this works good enough.
No complaints.

4 out of 5 eggsMotherboard/CPU Compatibility issues

Pros: The motherboard I ordered called for SODIMM memory, so I ordered a 8GB kit of DDR3L SODIMM memory rated at 1600MHz. It actually works, and it was a much more elaborate setup, as the memory just slides in and latches down into the board, rather than stand upright.

Cons: While the motherboard says it can accept 1600MHz modules, I was only able to get 1333MHz speeds out of it, even with all of the UEFI settings set on "Automatic" or "Auto-Detect." This was installed on an ASRock H81TM-ITX R2.0 with an Intel Pentium 3220T processor.

Other Thoughts: I would check whether my CPU can support 1600MHz memory speeds or greater from this point on. You know, the main reason for some of the bottlenecking is memory running lower than specifications. Especially when, in extreme cases, part of it is being used as video RAM.
The CPU uses a Socket LGA-1150, so I might plan on upgrading it again if I have to. Newegg often doesn't advertise the supported maximum DDR3 memory frequency when selling CPUs.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi Jeffrey

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear the memory is working well in your ITX build. The specifications of this memory kit is above standard, so you may need to manually input settings in BIOS. For memory timings tCL - tRCD - tRP - tRAS, set them to 9-9-9-28. Once that is complete, the memory should operate at maximum performance. The CPU is capable of DDR3-1600 1.50V, so it may be capable of this RAM. If you continue to have a problem, let us know and we will be glad to help. We will make sure your system is fully stable with 8GB of DDR3-1600.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsUsual G.Skill quality

Pros: Threw them in a Lenovo Z51-70 and passed a couple Memtest passes without issues. Running at advertised speed and CL

Cons: Didn't install themselves

Other Thoughts: I've never had a bad set of G.Skill's and will keep coming back for more.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat upgrade

Pros: Upgraded from 2x2gb kit at a slower speed, to the boost in speed and capacity to 2x4gb. I would recommend this kit if you're looking at a budget gameing PC.

Cons: The only con was that the first kit came defective out of the box, a module had gone bad, but the RMA via Newegg was reasonable and fast, and got me a working replacement. Not worth knocking an egg for.

Other Thoughts: The RAM wasn't explicitly compatible with my motherboard (the AsRock M8 built in z87 Mobo) so I had to dial the voltage in manually, but its been stable ever since.

also, have not overclocked the RAM as of yet, so no info there.
