5 out of 5 eggsJust What I Needed

Pros: Fast memory, low voltage, great price

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Perfect drop-in replacement for my HP DV6 series laptop. It's now maxed out at 16GB and this is low-voltage so it should work at tighter tolerances and/or lower voltages

5 out of 5 eggsworks with early 2011 MBP

Pros: Bought and installed this for my wife's MBP... Apple claims the max memory capacity/speed of the early 2011 MBP to be 8GB of DDR1333, even though the hardware supports 16GB of DDR1600. Good thing I don't trust Apple. Benchmarks before and after reveal a moderate boost in RAM performance which proved that the system not only recognized but actually utilized the ~300 Mhz speed boost. The system also recognizes 16GB, but to be sure I stressed tested it by running the following programs all at once ( to see if the system would actually utilize over 8GB of RAM in Activity Monitor ). I ran: Google chrome with 10 tabs including one streaming video that was being tab casted, Adobe illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Open Office word document, Itunes (playing music), Spotify (streaming music), Sketch Up, Maps, Activity Monitor, and finder. These programs, used 10GB of RAM (which was enough for me to confirm that the full 16GB was actually being utilized) . During the test the MBP never froze, there were no Pinwheels, everything still ran buttery smooth including both video streams (tabbed, and casted). I'm impressed, especially because with the OEM memory it was difficult even to run open office and Chrome at once.

I also noticed the fan running a bit less, or at least taking a slightly longer time to need to fully kick in during heavier usage. I would expect a slight increase in battery life as well, but I haven't tested.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Most of the Mac user forums pointed to other brands, but as a PC builder I knew G.SKILL was where I'd get the best quality (not even factoring in value). Highly recommended!

5 out of 5 eggsNice Dell E6430 Upgrade

Pros: Works well in E6430 with 3rd Gen i7-3720QM Quad Core.
Was recognized immediately.
Price was good with NewEgg discount code.

Cons: None yet and I really don't expect any.

Other Thoughts: I was unnecessarily concerned that the CAS 9 might not work in my Dell E6430. G.Skill advertises this RAM is for 4th Gen Intel processors. Mine is considered 3rd Gen. This RAM kit installed easily and was recognized immediately by my Win 8.1 Pro E6430, Quad i7-3720QM with 1TB SSD.

Pros: Easy to install, my 27" imac retina booted right up.

went for the factory 8 to 32 and seems to be doing fine.

Cons: none really, does as expected.

Other Thoughts: Im not into overclocking or this or that... i just put the 32gb in my imac retina and they work. Thats good enough for me.

2 out of 5 eggsMemory was DOA, awaiting new RMA memory.

Pros: Recognized by MBP 2012 as 16GB @ 1600 MHz.

Cons: Bad set of memory, sent in for RMA. Will adjust review once the replacement is tested.

Manufacturer Response:

.
Dear Customer

The memory kit is not DOA. Most likely you will have the same issue with the replacement RAM. Apple computers / firmware does not support non-standard hardware. The DDR3-1600 standard timing is CL11, as a result this DDR3-1600 CL9 memory kit is not compatible. Exchange for G.Skill F3-1600C11D-16GRSL and it will work flawlessly. For any further questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsG Skils F3-1600C9D-16GRSL Apple Compatible

Pros: Low price at Christmas; excellent latency and speed.

Cons: none really

Other Thoughts: I removed my crucial 2 x 4 gb chips, and popped these in. My Macbook 2011 i5 saw them immediately at 1600 not 1333...giving me 2 x 8 gb or 16 gb. Combined with the Samsung 1 tb and 500 gb SSD drives I got between Black Friday and Christmas there are no more upgrades to my Macbook Pro.except give it to my wife and get one with a retina display.
